They, some how find ways to charge you crazy amounts after you return the car. Even if you return it the exact same way. Take pictures before and after you return it - both inside and outside, both video and pictures. Including the mileage before and after you return it.

I was excited to rent with Avis after receiving the referral and great feedback from a work colleague. I had originally made a reservation with Fox but switch due to my friend's recent experience. The reservation process and pick-up were as smooth as could be. However, later in the day I received notice from my bank that my credit card had been maxed out. After reviewing things, I was charged $31/day for LDW even though this was declined during the reservation process. I even have an email saying "your rental is unprotected". I tried calling the Oakland airport location 5 times but no answer. CS said to call back the next day, which I just did. I was then told that I have to take time out of my vacation with my family to go to an Avis counter to get this manually changed. My current bill is $1,000 more than the reservation, I have wasted time on the phone, and now we have to change our vacation plans to get this resolved. We will never be using Avis again, extremely disappointing.

Was returning a truck for my friends who had to catch a flight. The guy working the counter started out kind but seemed frustrated after he helped other customers ahead of me. Interaction deteriorated significantly once he'd finished helping theand after trying to make a connection and getting awkwardly shut down by him, I began to feel very uncomfortable. Waited in silence outside for the receipt for a good 7-10 minutes where I honestly thought he was ignoring me completely. Ran outside once the transaction was complete to call an Uber and get away asap because the creepy meter turned on being a woman alone with a man in an uncomfortable situation.

Just left this location. Pre-paid for a rental car and was not allowed to pick it up. 12 minutes after 12 and “Karen” was locking the gate. (I put her name in quotes because this is the name she gave me.) I asked her if this was Avis rental car. She asked for the name on the rental then she said we were late to pick up the car. She was closed. She said she called 10 times. (Phone shows 3 missed calls, no message left. We were driving and do not answer unknown numbers.)Why would a rental for the time of a closing be allowed? The location is not easily seen from the road. We had gone by, parked across the street and had to wait for the traffic signal to change to cross the street. I asked since she was still there if she could let us get the prepaid car. She said no she had to pick someone up and the system takes 30 minutes to reboot. She drove away. We waited out front, calling customer service. She came back. I asked how her pick up was since no one was in the vehicle. This kind of customer service is ridiculous. Luckily Avis is granting us a refund and a new pick up location. Stay away from this one in Hayward and “Karen”.

Rented a compact car for one day cost was $89 plus a $200 deposit. After returning the vehicle my card was charged $405 and I didn’t get my deposit back. Was told because the vehicle was returned to a different Avis I was charged so dam much!! MAKES NO SENSE.

The car that was given to me was filthy the seats were filthy. The gear shaft, window buttons and handles were filthy like the inside of the car had not been cleaned/wiped at all. When I informed them they offered me another car which was even filthier. I looked at about 4/5 cars and they were all nasty. Due to covid and covid protocols I couldn't believe that this was how they were renting out cars. I'm 7 months pregnant and was not taking the risk. On top of each car I was assigned being dirty I had to walk back and fourth to the counter about 3/4 times the last car they assigned me wasn't even in the spot I was told it would be in after spending about 5 minutes looking for it and then having a staff look for it. She came and said the car was already rented out and they had to give me another one. That one was a bit cleaner than the rest but had a lot of miles in it. Overall I was very disappointed with my experience this time around with budget rental car. On top of that I was charged a $250 deposit plus the amount of the car which was new to me because any other time I've rented from budget they only place a $200 hold on my card if the rental anoint is under $200 and once I return the car it's released and the amount is taken. If the car amount was over $200 they're would charge the amount of the car never have I been charged $250 plus the rental car amount which is the policy when your using a debit card which I was using a major credit card. The lady at the front said that it has always been that way since she's been working the past 2 years, which I have rented from budget about 3 times In the last 2 years and never was it like that for me. Pictures that I took don't show how nasty the vehicles actually were. I didn't think to take pictures until the last vehicle.

Wish I could give zero stars and wish I read these reviews before I booked my rental car! WARNING...avoid this place at all costs! I will NEVER rent a car from Budget again! My flight to Oakland was 52 minutes. I stood in line for a hour to pick up my rental car. It took longer to get the rental car then the flight. Then they did not have the car that I reserved 2 months in advance. Staff was mediocre and no one was apologetic for the lack of customer service. Get your rental from some one else. Lesson learned. Never again. Budget sucks!

AVOID! The car are super dirty, I dont think they clean the car at all after someone returns it. I use wipes to clean the whole car, it is all black and still dirty.... During the trip, there are spiders coming out from the air filter. I went to exchanged a car once, the car smells terribly. The staff at this location are rude and gave me the wrong type of car. Still tried to argue, saying they never reserve specific car. But there were the car available at the location, i reserved a intermediate car but were given a compact car.I returned the car full tank, on the dot. They charged me over time and gas money! WHATTT? Tried calling customer service, the wait time are long and also the time is not flexible.will not rent from this location and company anymore.

This spot is more of a no frills type of car rental but that's what I prefer. You might miss the turn in off mission of you're driving too fast, but I'd definitely recommend this place! I especially like how they don't try n pressure you into buying a bunch of unnecessary extras like most other large chains. Pricing is great. Picking up my rentals are always quick and easy, same with returns. Plus, I've never had to compete with lines/crowds like at enterprise.

This place is pretty bad about keeping their paperwork for their cars up to date. I have reach out to them to get any information on registration and Uber inspections. They never answer the phone. And they always wait until the last possible minute. This time is cost me a full days pay. Really disorganized and soured my experience. Consider this a heads up renters.

I went there today to pick up a car The store manager was very rude and disrespectful I was hoping to get a Corolla They offer me another car for the same price I told him I will go with this but the car was super dirty and I asked the store manager(prajwal Chaulagain) can you guys take care of it They give me attitude and also I leave the store without a car After spending two hours in the store I couldn’t imagine they are hiring unprofessional manager ( Prajwal Chaulagain) as a store manager.
