What a nightmare. I had the same experience as Vickie S. I got a notice from the IRS that they didn't receive my tax report, tho they DID receive the money. It was almost impossible to reach the East Bay Tax Service; it took about two weeks of trying to reach them before he responded. He claimed he couldn't re-transmit the forms until January 24. He said he'd let me know when he transmitted & of course I had to email him twice to get an answer. He CLAIMS he has now transmitted them. He also claims he transmitted the State forms last year. He claims that the Federal forms were rejected by the IRS & they "forgot" to try again! Good grief! The incompetence is unbelievable! They don't answer the phones, they don't return calls, they don't respond to emails. The most frustrating organization I've ever dealt with!!!

Do not use the East Bay Tax Service. The are not qualified to work for the IRS or any one filing income tax returns. My tax returns for 2018 were incomplete, some information was incomplete and ignored. I usually do a check before mailing my returns and never found a mistake. This time I didn't and now I'm paying extra penalties for their mistake. We have worked with Jerry and Kathy Larson for many years and never a problem. They a well earned retirement. We trusted them completely. I have a new tax preparer for 2019 who seems to know the IRS laws and has time to go over your returns before they are filed. Too bad we are not allowed to post minus stars.

Worst tax people EVER! If 0 stars were possible they would get it. The only reason I went to them is b/c they bought Jerry Larsen's business after he retired so I thought I'd give them a try, MISTAKE! They have no idea what they're doing when it comes to the forms and they charge for additional forms that don't need to be filled out, completely incompetent.

DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS! Only giving one star because I have to. I would give zero if possible. We were loyal customers of Jerry and Cathy Larsen for many years. When they retired we thought the new owners would be professionals but they were the absolute worst! We went to them last March to have our 2018 taxes done. We picked them up and paid for the service on 4/4/19. We were told they were electronically filed. About a week ago we received a letter from the IRS stating that our 2018 taxes were never filed but we have a credit on our account and to file immediately. We went down to the office and it was locked and no one answered the door. We called, sitting right on the step in front of the office. He answered and we told him what happened. He said that if he didn't file that meant we hadn't paid him. I looked at my bank statement online and told him we paid on 4/4/19. He said he would check on it and call us back. A couple of days later my husband went down to the office to try to question him in person. At this time he acknowledged that we had paid but said the IRS wasn't accepting prior years returns until 2/3. My husband then asked if he filed our state taxes. His reply was "probably not". So this morning I called the IRS and confirmed that they are indeed accepting prior year taxes electronically. I then called the California Franchise Tax Board. They confirmed they had also not received our return but like the IRS they had received the check we had sent them for our taxes. They also confirmed that they are indeed accepting prior year taxes electronically. We went down to the office and he tries to tell us they are not accepting prior year returns electronically until late February. I handed him my notes and said I just confirmed that both are accepting returns at this time and I want them filed immediately. He tried and amazingly they were both accepted. He handed us a receipt and thanked me for letting him know they are accepting returns. I said maybe you should be paying me, and maybe you should have done what we paid you to do last year, last year.
