You need to be a student otherwise it will cost you. There are two floors with weights on both floors. There are lots of amenities too so go in and ask. Compared to other open to the public gyms it’s not so crowded.

Students and faculty at Cal State East Bay have this incredible gym in one of the most beautiful spots in the SF Bay Area. How lucky can you get?

Best way to rejuvenate yourself. Free for CSUEB students. They have good facilities for a perfect gym. They have a huge basketball stadium which is used for other sports and they also have cardio in 1st floor. They have massage chairs and lockers rooms. Overall had a good time. Only con is that we don't get personal trainers.

They won't let you in without a reservation and mask still need to be on. Also no support staff on any end.

Great facility and very clean. Not too crowded and can always use the machines I need. The gym is ran by students also which is a plus and they are very friendly.

For those who are new to fitness or those who feel there are missing gaps of how to further their work out, the classes at the RAW Center are an indispensable resource! As a student at CSU East Bay, I severely underutilized the services of the school. Lately, I've decided to take advantage of the what the school has to offer beyond coursework. I've always known that fitness is essential. I've been to gyms in the past and kind of haphazardly created my own plans, but never felt like the exercises or movements were working optimally. I decided to take a chance and take a new TRX class. Noel, also a student at the university, ran the session with energy and great instruction: examples and advice about form, occasional adjustments, and a lot of positive reinforcement. The session allowed me to utilize a lest used piece of equipment, and introduced me to form concepts that I can use in other workouts. Will definitely, return for round 2. Would definitely recommend his, or any class offered at the RAW Center.

The gym is ok for the most part, but there are some things I consider unforgivable sins when it comes to running a business/gym/establishment/whatever. This gym gets a lower rating from me until the staff decides to take 5 seconds out of their busy days to put up a sign at the front desk letting people know the equipment rental room is locked. At least once a week, I have to walk all the way down a long hall, right past the front desk, just to find out the equipment rental room is closed. Then I get to walk all the way back to the main desk in order to check out the stuff I need. I brought up the idea of a sign to the person at the desk just now, and got the ultimate "I don't care" attitude from her. If the staff is so apathetic about helping gym members not have their time wasted, when a super quick fix is all that's needed to address the problem, what else are they slacking on? Put up a sign at the front desk, let people know the equipment rental room is closed. And don't give attitude to members when they make a simple suggestion. It's not that hard. The equipment itself is fine. I was able to do what I needed, weight lifting and cardio wise. The gym can get crowded, but that goes for every gym. The place is pretty nice overall, it just needs to be ran a bit more efficiently. I get the feeling people work here for a few months out of the year to help pay student debt, all the while not giving two craps about how efficiently the place is ran, since the employees won't be around once they graduate anyways.

I purchased a month membership for RAW this summer as I needed a facility to workout during my stay in Hayward. Two floors of free weights, machines, an indoor track and classes to take in the afternoons was ideal. It's great that they offer the community (not just students and staff) the opportunity to purchase short-term memberships. The facility is CLEAN! Stations equipped with cleaning spray & towels are located throughout both floors & studio rooms to clean the equipment after one's use. Also, the staff went around periodically to make sure there was always sufficient cleaning towels or they emptied the baskets of used towels quite often. I also witnessed them clean the equipment & machines consistently. The entire staff for RAW was very friendly and courteous!!!

Overall a great place to workout. The building is extremely clean and they had more equipment than you'd think.

This gym is not for guys. Majority of the equipment are for cardio. The basketball court has no AC, and it is always dusty and sometimes with gums on the floor. The weight lifting equipments are not designed for working out.
