  I'm pulling two stars for terrible customer service. It's currently 9:21 a.m. and I went in because I need a cashier's check to pick up the keys for my new apartment. They told me I would have to wait an hour because the one person who can provide that service is at lunch. As far as I'm concerned, this is unacceptable. If you provide a service, it needs to be available to your customers during all hours of operation. Completely unacceptable that I now need to go and find another location because my neighborhood Safeway is defunct.
  
  I mean, not my favorite. Haven't recovered from the time I went in at 9 am a Saturday and there was no deli food available. Not a single boars head sandwich to be found. Tried to blame "renovations" but there were 2 empty coolers. They have shut down all but one entrance and have so much security it just feels uncomfortable. I prefer grocery outlet. (DO NOT VISIT THE NEARBY LUCKY!! It's 1000x better here!)
  
  I wish you could respond to other reviews, but you can't. So I'm going to add that if you see five star review from O.M. please disregard it. All of those items are made in house day of, so all the places he couldn't find it isn't because they sold out, it's because they never made them in the first place. So it wasn't going out of his way to make him a fresh one, it was doing his job after having not done it.
  
  This is why you can't really trust any of these reviews. You just have to go and see for yourself. Luckily this is something you can experience without having to actually spend money. You could just come in and check it out for yourself at whatever time of the week you usually do your shopping.
  
  I also wanted to add that I really enjoy the app and because I don't like going in the store most often I order through the app and then go pick it up. I do very much enjoy the convenience of sitting in my car instead of going into the store. And the app has good features when it comes to your discounts and offers, out of stock items, substituting items, and being able to create multiple lists and move them into the cart when ready. And the service itself is good because the shoppers are pretty communicative and they have to bring you the food that they packed, and it's pretty hard to defend bad work in someone's place. So they are always very professional and pleasant. In my experience. So I'm going to add one star because of the app and curbside pickup.

  1. Very bad experience. My doctor ordered a medicine 2 days ahead and i spend 1 hr and still not resolved. I’m not sure why it’s so hard to pick up an order. We do not have to wait , what’s the meaning of ordering in advance?
  2. Spending that hr in front of the pharmacy i had enough time to see the stand or colorful gatorade presented as sugar free. When i looked on the back it showed lots of sugar 21%!!!! That’s how people are encouraged to become a loyal client of the pharmacy in the future?! Fake adds - also chips and other unhealthy snacks are just right there by the pharmacy desk! So be careful, everything it’s a scam without knowing. And the service , well, you judge!

  This place was very confusing to navigate. Couldn’t find my way out because they have a bizarre labyrinth at the front. I get it’s the Bay Area and we have embraced lawlessness but they made it too confusing just to keep the second set of doors closed to curb theft.

  Used to be our go to Safeway but now you feel like a prisoner shopping here with all the security and fences. Why do all the thugs have to steal in the Hayward area? We just drive to the CV Safeways where it’s less crowded and I can shop without feeling like I’m in prison. So sad it’s become this way… this is why we can’t have nice things in the area. Imagine if the rumored Whole Foods opened up across the street and have to worry about all the thefts.

  This store, while maintaining a decent stock and ok customer service, is still lacking in a few departments. For starters, their bathrooms are always messy, and are pretty darn gross.
  
  I was also hurt on one of their carts, cutting open my finger. I feel bad for their staff because they had 2 first aid kits and they were empty. If someone gets hurt there, there is nothing they can do. I had to run over to the CVS next door to get help. I hope none of their staff is ever hurt, or they'd be in trouble.
  
  While they have beefed up security, safety and cleanliness have been left by the wayside.

  MY WORK VAN WAS STOLEN 10:30 am today I came to shop at Safeway I parked behind the SECURITY GUARD which I didn't notice i had done until I came out of the store and didn't find my work van and instead of making sure my truck was safe it got STOLEN and the driver wheel had one of the safety locks for the wheel and they still had the time to steel it and when I looked at the cameras to see if anything could have been recorded the cameras were looking down like if it was planned from the beginning I'm guessing the store is in on the sterling knowingly or unknowingly I also went into the store to let them know my vehicle was stolen and they told me to go make a lap around the parking lot to make sure and we wanted time by doing that so I called the police myself ‍ and THE POLICE STILL HACENT ARRIVED

  I know y'all want to deter thefts but your security is a walking liability. He's posting videos grabbing and roughing up people on Instagram to the account "@securityguardsam" and even responds to comments saying where he works. At the very least teach your security not to be clout chasing while putting your business at risk.

  Very clean, friendly, and much more available than at the Safeway I usually go to near the intersection of Amador and Jackson. Worth driving a little farther to go to this Safeway if you are able.
