My friends were looking to get some wine to celebrate on the Christmas eve, around Napa Valley and we found Blue Quail. They tried and tasted a few wine samples and liked the Chardonnay 2022. It tasted light and sweet. We celebrated well. The shop is pretty well decorated and awarded. The lady in the shop was very knowledgeable and polite. Nice find!

So glad we stopped. Lovely wines and great service. We got a great deal from the sale table too. Can't wait to taste the wild rice.

This place is so cute! We stopped by after a backpacking trip and LOVED it. Rosie ( the bartender) was extremely sweet and knowledgeable about the wine and the family that owns the vineyard. The tastings were priced reasonably and we got 10+ tastings ( whites, reds and champagne). We ended up buying a couple bottles so the tasting fee was waived. The ambiance is so mellow and relaxing. They have plenty of seating outside and inside. Besides wine, the farm also makes spices. They have local honey and pottery - adorable. This place is a must stop in Hopland. I cannot wait to come back.

Such an adorable little tasting room! Absolutely LOVED tasting here. What an engaging and intimate experience with stellar wines and personal service. Came here during a wine tasting event and had an absolute ball. This ended up being my last stop and it was also the most fun. Walked in and was warmly greeted by Serena, John, and a couple of the other patrons that were tasting there. I'm a s***** for intimate dining and tasting experiences, so I soaked up this tasting like a little sponge. This place literally feels like you're hanging out in your best friend's living room, and I mean that in the best way possible. With the cozy little sofa and the cute family photos on the back wall. The only difference is that there's a cute little bar upfront. The real hidden gem is that view of the valley from their back porch. You would never know what lies behind that back door if they never told you. A hidden treasure back there. It just felt like I was catching up with old friends while sitting at the tasting bar even though this was my first time meeting all of these people. We exchanged fun stories about wine and life. At the same time, Serena and John were on their A game when it came to pouring and describing the wines. Since it was the end of the evening, they also enjoyed a few tastes right along with us. I just love that so much. There's nothing like that genuine kind of tasting experience. No push to purchase anything and no pressure. Just a fun, relaxing, and super intriguing experience. But the wine sold itself, of course. When the wine is this good, there's no need to push for a sale. It just speaks for itself. And it was truly sangin' a soothing tune here. So, where to begin with this wine?! How about the Pinot Noir because this stuff is life changing folks. Life changing! As a ride or die Pinot lovin' gal, I knew I couldn't leave home without it. For all of my Pinot lovers out there; you will fall in love with their Pinot Noirs. It's single vineyard and estate grown with lovely floral and earthy notes. So soft, luscious, and so balanced. I could go on and on about it, but this is something that you just have to try on your own. Aside from their Pinot, every other wine that I tasted was delicious as well. Their white wines are winning baby! The Pinot Gris and that Chardonnay were just mmmm. And the fruity and crisp Rosé? I meeeeaan, get out of town!!! Their old vine Zins are quite lovely as well. I'm talking jammy, juicy, and medium bodied. Just exceptional. Can we talk about the price points as well? Felt like I was getting away with murder with these prices. So affordable and the quality is top tier. When it was closing time, it actually wasn't. Me and a few of the other patrons that I met while at the tasting bar hung out and chatted with the Serena and John well after closing. They never once tried to kick us out as they too were just enjoying the moment. This is the true definition on a local gem. If I didn't live so far away, this would for sure be one of my favorite little hangout spots. Simply the best!

Jessica was very knowledgeable and we had a great experience learning about the different wines and the history of where they came from! Highly recommend the tastings.

Love this spot! I visited with some of my family and Teri poured for us, she was so sweet and friendly. We had a lovely afternoon enjoying so many tasty wines. The 21 Gewurz was a big hit with our entire group. The tasting room has a down-to-earth, approachable vibe, and the story of the wines and family just makes you feel welcome and at home. There were also herbs/spices grown on their farm and pottery made on their farm available for sale, all of which looked amazing. I can't wait to go back!

I'd had a couple Rieslings made by other producers with fruit from the McFadden farm so I was very excited to try the wines they're making themselves and am so glad I did.. Charming tasting room; wonderful host (Serena, not to mention and her very sweet dog, Scout); crisp, clean, great-value wines made entirely from organic grapes; and just an all-around lovely time. Oh, and the pottery sold there -- made by an old platoon-mate of Guinness McFadden's who also lives on the farm, if I got all that right -- was insanely beautiful. Well worth a visit!

There are some very good wines and some not. Better whites than reds.

While the McFadden Farm tasting room is in Hopland, the vineyards are in Potter Valley at the family homestead. It's remote, bountiful, and idyllic - pure Mendocino magic. Each July, they host a lavish wine dinner open to members and guests alike. The food is remarkable, including lamb roasted over an oak fire with fresh rosemary and a whole suckling pig with crackly skin and stuffing. Plus salads and appetizers that are as healthy as they are delicious. All of the Blue Quail wines are open, including library and sparkling wines, along with live music and a wooden dance floor for celebrating long after the sun has set over the mountains. If you bring a tent, you can camp for the night and return home the next morning. You can also arrive early and swim in the river at a lovely deep and cool spot near the dining event venue. I have attended many wonderful wine events in Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles, Anderson Valley, the Santa Lucia Highlands, and the Santa Cruz Mountains, but nothing compares to the McFadden Farm summer wine, food, music, dancing, and moonlight celebration honoring an abundant land and the countless hours of labor that make it all possible. If you have a sense of adventure, appreciate authentic food and wine, like to dance to live music, and love meeting great new people, the next summer dinner may well be for you!
