I hate to rate a thrift/vintage store with only one star, but not only is the selection lacking, but the service and value is awful. First,I wasn't allowed in the store because of the no drink policy. Totally chill. But they do not have a table out front or a place to put your drink, so you have to put it on the ground next to the door or throw it out. I went back later without my drink, and the items were expensive for even off brand items (like vintage target brands for over $30). I would recommend cross roads in HB instead.

We went there on Memorial Day weekend, I love the clothes but didn't buy anything even tho I saw a few things I wanted due to lack of customer service. The girl was too busy on her phone to even acknowledge there were people in the store. If I was the owner I would be upset for lost sales. So maybe next time I go out that way I will try one more time.

Tried on 4 pieces of clothing. Came out to show my gf on the second piece. Cashier said "just to let you know there is a line so please be mindful of that". There are 2 dressing rooms. 2 people were in line to try on after me and my gf. We were in for less than 10 minutes. Can't seem to see what the problem was. Only thing I could see was the my gf and I are brown and they were white. So there's that.

As with most thrift stores, American Vintage doesn't have much of a selection for men. If you're coming for women's clothing, you'll have a great time, as there's a wide array of clothing across many vintage and contemporary styles to choose from. This place doesn't suffer from any poor music choice or funky smells, so it's a winner for me, aside from the shallow men's variety and inventory.

My husband and I had a very weird experience at this store. While I was shopping there, my husband went down the street to buy new coffee mug, which he decided to have filled with coffee. On his way back to our car, he stopped into the store to tell me he was done shopping. He was not touching anything, and he was not drinking his coffee, only holding it, and it had a closed lid. The woman working there appeared immediately. She said, "Excuse me," with a dramatic look and loud voice. My husband politely said, "Would you like me to take the cup outside?" Then, instead of her simply saying,"Yes, thank you," and then leaving us alone to walk out, she kept weirdly following us and talking about it. She even started yelling at us as we were walking out the door and kept yelling at us as we walked away down the sidewalk. That was so unprofessional and really, really weird.

I had to get the police involved. The girl overcharged me and then was unable to correct the mistake or refund me the difference. Then she said she couldn’t reach the owner after calling him 5 times to ask him what to do. After that she said that I had to leave the store with the merchandise and I said I’m not taking the stuff because I was overcharged and don’t want to leave until it’s corrected or I’m refunded. She said there is nothing she can do and I had to leave and I said I’m not taking the clothing and she said she would put it outside. So I went around the corner to the police sub station and got the police involved. They went over there and got the owners number from her but when I called it it was a disconnected number. At the moment I have left all the items there and called my credit card to dispute and cancel the charges and will never walk into that store again. Anyone shopping there remember they have unfriendly poor trained staff unable to help if a problem occurs and have a very strict policy of zero returns or exchanges. I highly recommend you steer clear of this place.

American Vintage is the little hidden gem of Huntington Beach! I always come here for cute little tops, glasses and old school band tees. Also super fun during Halloween time for costumes! The girls working are always super sweet and helpful. Shout out to Josie for helping me find the perfect top for a 70s party I'm attending this weekend. Decor and dressing rooms are cute and my favorite place to take pictures! If you're in the area definitely check it out
