Small, worn, RIGHT OFF THE HIGHWAY but clean and had everything we needed. My young adults slept like babies - would definitely stay here again!

Excellent stay and great hospitality. My wife and I returned from a long day hike and decided to stay in Independence for the night. The Courthouse Motel was available with short notice. A most pleasant lady greeted us. She was very kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely concerned with the quality of our short stay. The deluxe queen room was clean and nicely appointed. I will happily return next time I pass near Independence, CA.

The room was too small for a table and chairs. Also had to drive 15 miles for a bite to eat.

Our experience here was great!Very clean, nice personal touches that display genuine care for the guests. The manager is very kind and quite knowledgeable of the area.A wonderful place to stay while exploring the eastern Sierras.Rooms: Rooms are simple, exceptionally clean, toiletry selection is better than Hampton or similar.Nearby activities: If you are a movie fan, this is the place to visit. The nearby Alabama Hills at the base of the Sierras is great place to explore.Safety: We felt quite safe.Walkability: Hotel is in the center of town and great for walking pets.Food & drinks: Nice fruit basket & crisps presented upon arrival.Noteworthy details: The hotel proprietor is very kind & caring. She made us feel very, very welcome. Our room was simple yet nice. Our room was very clean with a thoughtful assortment of toiletries. On this trip we stayed in many large chain hotels. Some quite upscale, but none made us feel so appreciated as the fine manager of Courthouse Motel and none was as clean. We will definitely make this our place to stay when passing through Independence.

Super friendly people, clean and convenient on the west side of 395. They held the toiletries bag that I forgot until I could return. They were kind enough to recommend that we eat before we reached Independence because there wasn't anything open at that time.

We stayed one night here because of closed highways from snow. The owner was so kind and had a room for us when we called. She recommend we eat in Bishop because there wasn't much near her motel. Our room had 2 full beds, it was clean, and quiet. Parking was good (just snow piles were in the way ). Bathroom was clean and a there was a very low light night light by the sink for night time restroom breaks. We will stay again. We feel good we supported small local business.

Old motel needing updates. Clean room and common areas.Owners are very nice people, and will go out of their way to help as needed.Recommend this motel.Nearby activities: It's in the Owens Valley, so tons of activities nearby in the mountains.

I stayed here with a friend while hiking the thru-hiking the PCT. The owners were the most accommodating of anywhere else we stayed on the entire trip. They even went out of their way to pick us up and take us to a local taco truck. It was the best. Thank you for the amazing stay.

We had a lovely stay at the Courthouse Motel for a night. The host personally waited until after 10pm for us to arrive (we were super delayed and he was so gracious!) and greeted us with cookies! When I called to book the room, he warned us about some of the speed traps in Bishop and Big Pine as we were coming from the north. He also advised us to get dinner before reaching Independence as most restaurants would be closed by the time we arrived. Our room was super cute, really nicely appointed, and had amazing water pressure! The AC blows cold, there was room for us to park our two trucks, and we felt super cozy and well taken care of ? thank you!!

This place was so quaint we stayed in the economy rooms and it was just right for a quick stop from our long road trip. The owners were very delightful and they even gave us a welcome gift basket filled with snacks. The only issue we had was with the toilet but it wasn't that big of an issue to ruin our trip.

We stayed at the Courthouse Motel while hiking John Muir Trail. It is a great place for the PCT and JMT hikers who need to resupply in Independence. It is more affordable than Mt. Williamson Hotel. The owner, Geeta, is the most hospitable, caring and friendly person. For a small extra fee you can leave your resupply box at the hotel and get your laundry done. She also has phone numbers for the drivers who can shuttle you to the trailhead. She goes out of her way to make sure your stay at her motel is comfortable, and provides a lot of information on where to eat or buy food. Rooms are sparkling clean, have a microwave, fridge coffeemaker and TV. Enjoy your stay!

Friendly, really clean place with cozy rooms and thoughtful touches. Easy to find. Hot shower with good water pressure, and good heating in mid-December. Way better than similarly-priced alternatives in Big Pine.

Very nice lady running the place when we showed up about 9pm. This motel is very hiker friendly though I stopped by on a road trip. Will be keeping this place in mind for future through hiking in and out of onion valley
