Firstly, after much researching, We chose Master kim based on his extensive (49 years of experience)in the arts and because he is an 8th degree black belt in Taekwondo, hapkido and karate. Our kids have been coming here for almost a year now and have seen so much improvement and confidence in them. They have made dad and I so proud!! Thanks to Master kim for always pushing and encouraging them to do their best. Thank you for the confidence and discipline, you’re continuing to instill in them!.

I was a student of Master Kim for at least 2 years and during time at his dojo at La Quinta where I first met him, I had a great time learning, experiencing the joy of tournament fighting and i first saw his sign saying that his dojo teaches Taekwondo, Karate, Judo, Hapkido and Kendo, I was excited about learning styles i even seen in Indio before. But the sign was too good to be true because:-Taekwondo/Karate: it's actually a olympic style only design to hit the upper body with body protection covering every part of the body and not allow to target the face.-Judo(Yudo): While wearing body armor, his style of Yudo is nothing but leg sweeps while only holding the body armor.-Hapkido: He only a little bit of it in his LA Quinta location before he switched to Indio and stopped teaching it after that .-Kendo(Kumdo): There were times he actually gave the students lessons on the sword swings, but most of the time we're just sparring. When COVID came, his agenda, schedule, and what he taught changed:-He stopped teaching Judo and Kendo for months- Sparring was only allowed in light contactI'm actually telling this review not only to other people, but also to Master Kim:For all the time I started learning Taekwondo from my first teacher Master Bong Jo Gu, but he moved away to Palm Springs, so I found Master Kim ready to learn the styles he advertised and finally earning my first black belt under him. But as time flew bye, I started to learn that even though his class was full of children, teens, and some adults there, he didn't teach much of the styles advertised. Only teaching Taekwondo as the base style, Judo barely teaching that style anymore, Hapkido stopped teaching when COVID came, Kendo only in sparring. My favorite activity to do in the dojo was the sparring and when the only adults was me and another senior student, I thought I was finally allowed to spar all out with this guy, but Master Kim doesn't allow full contact, only light contact. He knows I get too excited when it comes to sparring but out of all the students in the dojo, I'm the only student who's not allowed ? to spar fully. Because his classes are only 45 min, I can't learn any of the other styles. This one time when we were in the middle of Judo sparring, the class consists of younger students and the only 2 adult students(Me and the senior student), we waited for the students to take their turn but when my match with the senior student finally came, Master Kim stopped us and told to do push ups because of it was the last minutes of class. He told me day before that I wanted to have a Judo match and he said tomorrow but he stopped us didn't bother to let me have my match even started. What's the point of teaching martial arts ? if you're not going to teach what you advertise. I left the dojo on bad terms with Mr. Kim because I wanted to learn martial arts, not a sport.5 days in a week, 45 min in each class( children, teen, adult), lowest price $450/ 3moSuggestion:You could teach more if you extended your classes to (1hr-1:45) minutes that way you could teach more styles than just Taekwondo and that the prices could make more sense.I wrote what I needed to write for how I feel to the dojo and to Mr. KimSincerely, former student of Master KimJuan "Jun" Giron

Our son has been attending Master Kim class for 8 months now . He’s improve so much through out the months . I looked at several studios before enrolling my son with Master Kim. He was the only one that had 40 yrs of experience and a legit Master . I really encourage everyone to sign up your little one .

Those who gave Master Kim’s Studio 1 star, are just trying to hurt Master Kim. Master Kim is a generous, caring man who loves to teach his students. I have been taking my granddaughter to Master Kim for over 6 years and now is going for her 3rd black belt. I would never take her to any other studio. Master Kim has taught her to be a strong and respectful person. If the students are running around it’s before class. Those total high dollar amounts that the other people said that Master Kim charges are not true. Master Kim does test his students before he gives his students their belts. The belts are given to the students on a different day.

Master Kim studio is the best here in the valley. He has plenty of experience and he is great with all kids. What I like the most is that if a child does not put in the time and effort they will not get a belt. My daughter had her black belt testing and was not ready, she now has to wait six months until she can try again for a black belt. My daughter has learned a lot while having fun and building relationships.

The BEST Martial Arts Studio in the desert!! Before coming to Master Kim we tried 2 other studios closer to our La Quinta home. We didn’t receive the 1 on 1 attention there like we do with Master Kim. I’ve seen such a difference with our daughter! Thanks to Kim’s studio our girl is more confident and feels better about herself. As a parent I feel better knowing that she is learning to protect herself and at the same time exercising and interacting with other kids. There’s adult and teen classes available to accommodate all schedules. Great summertime activity so your kids aren’t sitting in front of the T.V. All day! Come down and join our family!!

Sad excuse for a dojo. No structure or requirements to upgrade and earn a belt. They give away belts like candy. Not a place to learn martial arts. Nice place to run around and let the kids play.

Please be careful and pay attention. I took my son to two classes a couple of months ago. Master Kim wanted me to pay upfront for a black belt club. Why would I pay $4,500.00 and the guy might close down next Tuesday. I seen a lot of kids that did pay. Good luck to them. I was watching my son just running around like he was on recess at school. Than we watched the belt promotion and testing. No test just gave them an belt.
