The Anteater Recreation Center (ARC) is a large and versatile facility primarily serving UCI students. It offers a wide range of amenities including a weight room with dumbbells up to 125 pounds, multiple workout rooms, and various classes such as F45 and martial arts. The center features four full-size basketball courts, three of which will be new in June 2024 after flooding repairs, as well as racquetball courts, a large pool, climbing wall, and outdoor fields for different sports. It is open early and late to accommodate busy schedules, though it can get crowded, especially in the evenings. The facility also offers numerous sports fields for soccer, tennis, and other activities. While the ARC is praised as an epic training facility, some improvements are needed. The weight room can be crowded, and the carpet is worn out. The fitness stations could benefit from updated equipment, and the loud music during classes like F45 may disturb others. Parking nearby is not free, which can be inconvenient. Personal trainers, such as one highly experienced trainer, provide professional and effective guidance. Overall, the ARC is a great place for fitness and sports, but expanding and updating the facilities could enhance the experience further.
