AVL Moving are the WORST! Complete RIP OFF! BEWARE! During pickup I paid in full for the complete move including final delivery. Then I continued paying monthly for storage. When I asked for final delivery Suraj (the owner) insisted that I must pay for delivery charges again. That Thief! I refused and said I would arrange for my own pickup from the storage unit. He was pissed and threatened me that he would not give me my stuff if I did not pay him again. Finally, he reluctantly agreed, but still gave me another nonsensical story of why I must pay storage handling charges. When I show up to pick up my stuff from storage he again asks for storage handling charges, when there was nothing to handle. It was my stuff, I was paying for the storage, had my own mover do the pickup/loading ...what storage handling fee? He started abusing and cursing me and I had to finally threaten to call the cops before he relented. All my stuff was completely trashed and broken in storage. Those AVL thieves were using my storage fees to pay for the whole storage unit and had stuffed it to the brim with stuff from other customers, while stealing storage fees from others as well. Based on this experience, If I could give zero stars I would! These guys are thieves, and you can tell just by looking at the owner Suraj. This guy is prime scum, and had I not threatened him with calling the cops he would have licked my feet to get a few extra dollars from me. Definitely a case for scam investigative reporting in local and national news. Beware! If after reading all the 1 star ratings, you still give them a penny of your business ... well, you must be his family!

I haven't used them, but I was shocked when I got a call asking for a list of my items to be moved--no introduction, nothing. (I had submitted an online request which to be contacted by several moving companies.) When I said no, I've received enough call-backs, the caller said, "But we pay ten dollars for your name and number!" I told him that was not my problem. I was curious, so I decided to check AVL reviews and I am so surprised....not.

If I could do a review with no stars I would. If these people call you - run for the hills - do not take the call - they are a nightmare. My move scheduled for 8 am on a Friday morning was confirmed the night before for between 3 and 5 - I didn't actually speak to somebody but I was sure it was a mistake. When I called Friday morning they said no we will probably be there closer to 5 - duh - this is a gated community - no trucks allowed after 5 - what the heck are you thinking. They new all of this. From the beginning I felt like it was a scam - now I know I was right - find a real moving company save yourself the stress.

Wow, years later and I notice this company has scammed everyone, it wasn't just me. This morning I happened to look through my emails that I kept from years ago, one conversation was with a company called R1 MOVING & STORAGE. They scammed me so bad and ended up being really late with my stuff, a whole month, and charged my card an extra $2000. I googled them today just to see what I found, and it looks as though they were on the news in CA for a superior court case and 310 filed complaints. But ironically what I noticed when I clicked on their (old) website in my email.....www.r1moving.com, it took me to this AVL Moving Systems website. Hmmm, looks like they changed their name.....wonder why. Google their old name.....R1 Moving & Storage.....Yup.

Should have checked Yelp first. The whole move cost us $1500 which was more than twice of what we had talked about in estimate ($65/hour - 2 BR which would be about 10 -12 hours). It would had been OK if it was only because of the amount of stuff we had but unfortunately it was also because of the inability of the employees who showed up causing a huge amount of delay and a bad moving experience. The foreman said his helper was so slow that he will be fired the next day. The foreman himself was complaining about back pain and how he is too old for the job. That didn't help us, we still had to pay the overtime caused by the voluminous helper and the sick old leader. I must say they were polite and were only swearing when they thought nobody was listening. - They started at 8:30 am and moved already packed and disassembled furniture into the truck till 4:30 pm - 8 hours for a 2BR apt!! - There were times where one of them was just carrying one folded chair. My husband was the 3rd helper throughout -- working hand in hand -- and he made 3 trips while the other two barely made 1 in that time frame. - The garage which they mentioned should not take more than 1/2 hour took more than 2 hours - They mentioned they couldn't fit in one table which we said was ok to leave. But when we checked more of our stuff was missing including -- Our stainless steel trash can which had new shoes and a bunch of stuff that we had packed -- An Aloe plant which had sentimental value (we had it for last 15 years) -- Another plant was missing as well. -- few things were broken (which I think slipped by mistake and is understandable) - They were simply miserably slow and if my husband had not helped they would have charged OVERTIME even more. This was not acceptable as it wasn't our fault that they took their time in moving.

This was the worst experience I have ever had moving. I usually movie myself and the few times I used a mover it was pretty good. I have to move often for work (5 times in 5 years). The phone service is terrible. There is no way to reach a representative. All you get is some operator who tells you to leave a message. When I finally did we agreed on the phone that I will be only charged for "GPS distance" not time. When they arrived the guy called himself a regional manager and told me that I either sign the paperwork or he leaves. They used an unbelievable amount of materials to repack my things most of which were already boxed. They even used tape to reseal a factory sealed box! I was so surprised I took pictures. When we arrived the amount was much higher than the quote and I was told to pay now or they will dive off with my furniture. That is basically extortion. They charged for time of course, and every inch of tape and wrap including where they re-wraped a TV set in its box and an empty plastic bin. We called their office and were given the run around to finally talk to the creepy "regional manager" My next step is, I think, to call the better business bureau. I wish I looked them up on Yelp first! M.S.

This is not only the WORST moving company I've ever dealt with in the LA area, but possibly the WORST business I've ever encountered, ever. AVL Moving is a SCAM. Here's how they operate: He will quote you a low hourly rate over the phone. Once they arrive, as others have mentioned, they will essentially repack your already packed items in order to increase the hours worked, and charge you for materials. They'll even charge for blankets that they keep after the move. Upon arriving at your new residence, they will give you a summary of their outlandish fee (which is usually double to triple what they initially quoted), and threaten to run off with your belongings if you don't pay them. Most people usually pay to avoid the drama. The "general manager" is actually just a lame douchebag with a child predator vibe who gave himself a title to feel important. He'll pick up a couple guys from Home Depot, and show up at your door. He feels like a tough guy because he has leverage over your possessions, and will definitely try to intimidate you with that.. which is fairly comedic once you see his beer belly. To those who have been ripped off by this con man, think about it like this: For every person he rips off, he's losing a potential client who has read these reviews. At the end, he's killing his own business by ripping people off. To the "general manager" - why don't you sit down and calculate how much $ you're losing due to your unethical business practices and bad reviews, B1TCH!* *Say it like Jesse

I have never evaluated a business before but feel compelled this time. I wish we had checked yelp before hiring these people. I have moved four times the last five years. This included long and short distance moves in Chicago, Arizona, and California and had my share of good and bad moves but nothing worse than this. I should have been wary after speaking with the first person on the phone and getting a confusing quote. I called again and ended up speaking with a much nicer person. Everything will seemed to be set. I even called back twice to confirm the estimate including the mileage and how I will be charged. Like others commented here, the person showing up was surprisingly rude and brisk. He introduced himself as the operations manager. He basically told me that if I didn't sign the papers he will drive off and I will be left with my furniture and containers at the receiving center. He also repeatedly told me that if I don't pay them they will drive off with my furniture. This was the closest I've ever had to a threat from a mover. Then they started using packing material and tape on everything and I do mean everything. I am a very neat packer, and already had almost everything in boxes except one bed, two chairs and two ottomans. They even used tapes to reseal some boxes already sealed with tape including factory boxes like the TV and DVD. Of course, I was charged for the materials (10 per roll of tape). I took several items in my own car to stop them from trying to use packing materials on them. There was grease on some of the items which I pointed out twice but was ignored. When it came time to pay the operations manager insisted on my writing the check to him personally before my furniture was unloaded. I wasn't too comfortable but had no choice. It was either that or cash which he kept pushing me to do. Not sure why but probably to avoid taxes. I would not recommend this company to anyone moving long or short distance.

CROOKS. Used them last July 2012. Thought I was paying $79 an hour for 3 movers and truck. I got a man, his son and boy. I also paid $300 for materials! Move took longer due to applying the unneeded materials. Total cost $972. Just made the same move back with another company...$350!!!! AVL offered slight discount for cash.....hello IRS.... This was not Anaheim. I booked them up north but got them from Craigslist. Looks like they all operate the same way.

This company was comedy! First of all, I was given a quote of $95.00 per hour flat fee for 4 men and a 26 foot truck and I quote "no hidden fees". So on my move day..... A large male looking hung over with a big ole beer belly hanging out of his shirt hops out of a broken down moving truck (which was not a 26' truck) with is his zipper down no less and comes into my house with clip board in hand (breathing hard from the 4 steps he walked up to get to the door)..... He looks around and says so we charge for the wrap and we will need a lot of it because you have nice furniture.... boxes are extra...double the drive time...unloading and wardrobe boxes are separately charged and for insurance....60 cents per pound if something is broken.... (so my $2,000.00 dining room table if it gets broken will net me a whopping $24 bucks).... then goes on to quote $5,000.00 max fee for the move. I asked what happened to the flat rate of $95.00 per hour and he says well no one can do that really! So, I call the main office and speak to the "operations manager" and I explain the situation and the differences that were originally quoted to me and he says don't worry I have sent my best men! My whole family broke out laughing when I said to the guy you mean to tell me that this over weight man with his beer belly hanging out and zipper down, the old man with him, the skinny biker dude and the young under age kid is the best you've got? His response....the dial tone. Needless to say, I sent them on their merry way with no move from me! However, I booked on the very same day 4 men from Valley Moving Services....they accepted my request to move the next day...they came recommended....Hopefully these guys will be better...I doubt they could be worse! It was such comedy as angry as I was my entire family laughed for hours!!!!!

This is the perfect company if you'd like to do an investigative report. Start out with a pleasant conversation, a cheap quote, and an agreed to time for the move. When they get to your place pay attention and get ready to get screwed and not in the good way. The contract they want you to sign really quickly with a few initials has a lot of things you should read. The actual price you'll pay is close to what the limit is on the contract. The actual quote i received was 500 with a minimum time of three hours. Also pay attention to the over time part of the contract. If they go over the time you asked for then you pay huge amounts. Basically they try to scam you anyway they can. The packing material is work 20 dollar and they wanted to charge me over 100. They told me it wouldn't cost more than 1750 even though i didn't have that much to move and the place i was moving was 2 miles away, They should not be allowed to operate. Try calling or getting money back after you pay and it's like the con artist have fled.

RIP OFF. Worst experience ever. I had a similar experience as the previous comment. I thought I was getting a deal when I received my first quote at 4 Men - Truck - $89 per hour. When they arrived I had only furniture to move since I had already moved all my boxes , clothes, pictures etc myself. My place was 2000 sft. They wrapped all furniture in so much packing material that was unnecessary. When they gave me the $1600 invoice, over $600 was because of the packing material! BTW, they kept the packing material afterwards so I am pretty sure that they reuse it for the next job. I knew not to discuss the bill while my furniture was on their truck and I was fearful of them in the first place. On top of all this they left some items back at my old house. My television was bubble wrapped and boxed sitting on the family room floor in my old house. I have moved eight times in 12 years and have never paid more that $600. This place is a scam!

Save money & time & go w/ a nationwide mover even if its a local move. I thought I did my homework in choosing a mover. I've moved 5x in 10 yrs so I should have made a better decision. The sales guy, Jack knew the size of my home so not sure why he sends a 26' truck. If I knew that in advance I would have chose a different company. All the stuff didnt fit. My husband had to rent a truck the next day to pick up the rest. Good thing it was a local move! The movers, 4 of them seemed to be working very hard but I just can't figure it out why it took 11 hrs. I don't think they were very organized. But all he kept saying was, we are going over & above to get this done. When the stuff was brought to the house we unwrapped a lot of the furniture. We've NEVER had to work so hard ourselves during a move. The owner eventually paid for the rental truck my husband had to rent. It was a $1250 local move plus tip, lunch & drinks. The last local move I did w/ a nationwide company who didn't nickle and dime me was $850. A lesson learned the hard way.

DO NOT I repeat DO NOT ever use this moving company. I used them and got a pretty good deal on the price but I got what I paid for. They damaged all my furniture including my 60 inch plasma TV. I have filed a claim with them and it has been 10 months and I still do not have resolution to my claim. They damaged over 15,000.00 they are trying to offer me less than 200.00 to settle. THIS IS THE WORST EXPERIENCE i HAVE EVER HAD WITH A MOVING COMPANY.

I just couldn't wait to find a way to express my thoughts about the horrible service this company rendered me in April 2012. To get my business customer service was great but.they failed to reveal hidden charges until the day of my move and after the movers had begun moving my things. During the move they moved each item one at a time after they wrapped and wrapped even each little item with tape, bubble wrap, then card board. Using excessive boxes, tape and wrapping which added up to more than half my move. In the end they threatened to take my furniture if I didn't come up with the money at that moment. I was a very abused taken advantage of woman and hope no one uses this company to move them. They will rip you off!!!! .
