“Working with this place twice got me thinking about what makes a local business worthy of a 5-star review.
It’s not a 5-star business in the conventional sense, where everything goes so smoothly and perfectly that you thinking, “My God, that was high-level.”
It’s not about being low-cost or offering incredible value for money. In fact, I paid $100 for 100 business cards because I needed them the same day—about four times the usual cost. The staff isn’t overly friendly or preoccupied with sparing your feelings, either.
Still, I’m giving them 5 stars for a few specific reasons.
First of all, this is a truly local business. You’d be surprised how many print shops claiming to be local are actually virtual offices with remote dispatchers outsourcing your orders to somewhere like Arizona. When I needed to print a step wall for my event, I called 15 places, and only two were genuinely local shops.
Second, these people are professionals who work like professionals. I worked at a newspaper for 20 years, so I know the vibe. They’re hardworking folks with a real connection to the community. They don’t upsell or pressure you.
So, if you’re looking for a fancy shop, go somewhere else. But if you just need your printing done, this is a place.”
“Caliber Signs and Imaging in Irvine absolutely nailed it with the sign for our wealth management firm. From the get-go, they held our hand through the entire process, patiently navigating through my numerous changes during the brainstorming phase. In honestly didn’t know what I wanted, but Martin helped me define my vision into a sign that really illustrated our values and meshed with our vibe of the office. Martin, Mary, and their team walked us through material options, sizes, lighting, etc., ensuring we got exactly what we wanted. I also really appreciated Martin’s candor and guidance through the entire process. He would often tell me to NOT go a certain route because it was too pricey or out of scope. He is a rare businessman in the sense that he will tell you to choose a lower cost option if it fits your needs, despite it meaning his company will make less money. He really is in the game to serve the client!The installer they sent was super precise, making sure every final touch was perfect. AND post-installation, they willingly came back for a second round, all on the house, because they thought they could make a few tiny tweaks to make the sign EVEN BETTER! Now, our office sign is a showstopper, and everyone who walks in wants to know where it's from. Major kudos to Martin, Mary, and the whole crew at Caliber Signs – they are the real deal! I've already told a bunch of my clients to hit them up for all their sign needs because their service, patience, and attention to detail are second to none.”
