Racist experience at checkout—completely unacceptable.
I had an extremely upsetting interaction at the Woodbury Town Center HomeGoods location today. When I approached the cashier and began placing my items on the counter—focused and silent—the cashier said “hello,” which I didn’t immediately respond to as I was arranging my items. Instead of waiting a moment or continuing professionally, she called over another employee (an Asian woman), who then looked directly at me and said “Ni hao” as if that was appropriate or welcome.
This was not only racially presumptuous and unprofessional, it was dehumanizing. I speak perfect English. I don’t need to be greeted in a language that wasn’t mine just because of how I look. When I confronted the situation by saying “I speak perfect English,” the employee walked away. The cashier didn’t apologize—she just proceeded with the transaction and asked which store I work at when I placed my employee discount card on the counter.
There was zero accountability. No apology. Just quiet dismissal.
This kind of racial profiling masked as “customer service” is disgusting.
If you’re a person of color shopping here—be aware.
To corporate: Train your staff. This incident has stuck with me all day.

The front-end manager with an earpiece came up when there were only 2 cashiers and 19 parties in line. The line wrapped all the way around the turn styles and back into the aisle. She didn't log in to help push the line or call for help.

Home goods is still very affordable and has a complete range of daily necessities. Although it is not luxurious, there are many pots, pans, furniture and carpets. It is actually suitable for moving or a new house. Recommended, it’s also a national chain, and it’s convenient even if it’s not suitable for returns.

Love this mug! Made in China Winnie the Pooh with Chinese character! I thought Winnie the Pooh was banned in China! Is this why this one is in HomeGoods? Because it is illegal to sell Pooh in China??

I love that I can find things I need and things I didn't know I needed at homegoods. The customer service is great and there are always employees around to help if needed. The return policy could be better, sometimes I realize I never used an item and their 30 day only policy can leave you with a gift card and don't ever lose your receipt because then your stuck with whatever price if dropped down to.
