I started my treatment with Dr. Steve at the Functional Medicine Center in September 2023. At the age of 51, I've battled with persistent low energy and what I've termed as “stomach issues” for the majority of my adult life. Despite seeking help from various traditional health practitioners since my early 30s, my consistently normal bloodwork meant my concerns were often dismissed with general advice on diet, exercise, and hydration.In early 2023, my primary care provider’s conclusion was a possible mild depression, suggesting I consider anti-depressants. It took considerable persuasion on my part for her to test my hormone levels, a test about which she never followed up with me. Frustrated and driven by a few years of personal research, including podcasts and books, I turned my attention to functional medicine. Last summer, after consulting with several practitioners in the Orange County area, I chose Dr. Steve, who impressed me with his authenticity, expertise, and lack of aggressive sales tactics as compared to others.My primary goal was to address my energy levels and suspected gut issues, as I often felt tired and bloated. I was also struggling to lose an additional 10 lbs gained after turning 50. Dr. Steve's plan for me included a cleanse, a modified diet to eliminate irritating foods, and supplements. I committed fully to the plan, convinced of its value over occasional indulgences in dining out.The outcome has been remarkable. Within four months, I've lost 8 of the 10lbs I aimed to shed and have maintained this weight loss. Bloating has become a rarity, my energy levels have surged, and my stress has significantly decreased. A long-term issue with low White Blood Cell count, previously dismissed by traditional primary care, has normalized, and I've remained healthy throughout this winter season. There was no hormone replacement therapy in his plan, just a focus on gut health. Additionally, feeling better overall has led to a 70% reduction in my alcohol consumption, reallocating what I would have spent on wine to supplements.Dr. Steve's approach was thoughtful, professional, and effective. After 20 years of suffering from hypothyroidism with undiagnosed symptoms of fatigue, sleep problems, weight gain, anxiety, brain fog and autoimmune disease and sick of taking prescribed medication without an end in sight. I finally decided to find a functional medicine doctor that advocates a holistic and natural approach.My hypothyroidism started after I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and gone through radioactive iodine treatment.Afterwards, I was on thyroid pills all my life then I developed autoimmune disease - Hashimoto’s and symptoms of fatigue, sleep problems, weight gain, anxiety and brain fog occurred.The traditional doctors keep giving me thyroid pills and telling me that my thyroid level is normal while I suffered with fatigue, sleep problems, weight gain, anxiety, and brain fog. They simply mask my symptoms by giving me a lot of medications that come with bad side effects.After full research for the best functional medicine doctor, I found Dr. Steve. He is very knowledgeable, helpful, kind, thorough and gives you the time to listen to come up with a plan that works for you. He answered all my emails and every question I had with no judgement.Dr. Steve did a comprehensive test before treating me. We did numerous tests like blood tests, organic acid test, toxic metal, etc. to find the root cause of my symptoms that traditional doctors don’t do.Because of this detailed test he discovered the root cause of my sickness then prescribed the best natural supplements to take. All of my symptoms were greatly reduced, I slept well and lost weight. And another greatest result is the levothyroxine pills I’m taking almost half of my life was replaced with natural thyroid supplements.I highly recommend Dr. Steve Hyjek. I am so grateful for his wealth of knowledge.

Dr. Steve Hyjek is one of the best in his field. I have been his patient since 2015. He has helped me to treat/cure many gastro issues I had. He is an amazing chiropractor too.

Hear me out before judgingDr Hyjek is one of the best chiropractors I’ve seen. Great interpersonal skills and professional bedside mannerI have severe pain in my lower back, hip, and left leg. Even to the point of experiencing weakness in your left leg and needing a caneI had about 4 adjustments and stop for a while due to personal issues. During that time, I no longer felt the pain that was aching me night and day and I know he is legit in his field because once I stopped the pain came back tenfold.I would strong recommend giving Dr Hyjek a visit if you’re in need of chiropractic care

I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition several years ago. I had made some progress but knew that I could do better. Stress and sleep issues kept me from feeling like myself. I found the Functional Medicine Center and completed a 6 month program. The program started with bloodwork and muscle testing. This testing helped determine the best protocol for me. The protocol involved supplements and lifestyle changes. Almost a year later, I feel more like myself than I have in years. Thank you!

After spending half my life with an autoimmune disease, I finally decided to find a functional medicine doctor in hopes that it would help me figure out the best way to manage it. I was sick of taking a constant stream of medication without an end in sight and I needed to start becoming an advocate for my own health.I think I lucked out because I found Dr. Steve. He's done what no other doctor has done for me - which is simply to listen and look at history of lab work and work *with* me on diagnosing what might be at the root.It's been so great to work with him and I've been dealing with this long enough to know that tackling the management of my disease is a long term investigation with trial and error. I already feel an improvement overall and I'm looking forward to seeing even more improvement working with Dr. Steve.

I will gladdly recommend doctor Ihionkhan's herbal medicine to anybody looking for a cured for herpes and other diseases, his herbal medicine cured me from Herpes despite our medic doctor's claim that it's not cured able.

If you're considering to give a try to a chiropractor or you're done with back pain I highly recommend Dr. Hyjek. I have dealing with back pain since my 20s, I have being on and off with different painkillers. Before I met Dr. Hyjek I used two over counter painkillers and famotidine to protect my stomach. I am in my fifth session and there's a big improvement. I am not taking pain killers and the pain has reduced in more than 90 percent. I am doing the exercises Dr. Hyjek recommended and attending to my adjustment sessions. The office set up is very clean, comfortable and welcoming. The staff is very professional and kind. I can't recommend The Functional Medicine Center enough. Now is up to you to give it a try.

I have no doubt that Dr. H. is a brilliant chiropractor and super knowledgable Functional Medicine Practitioner. When I first came, he did some serious blood testing, muscle testing and gave me a prescription for a variety of supplements. However, he is not an MD and is not allowed to prescribe Medicine. Had I needed that, I still would need to pay for an additional consult with an MD specialized in Functional Medicine to get any prescription medicine. When the business name says "Functional Medicine Center", I find it very important to inform your patients what your limitations are, so that they are well informed prior to committing to paying for a consult. Seems just a matter of practical honesty to me. And therefore, I would rather prefer to consult with an MD specialized in Functional Medicine, as to avoid additional costs next time.

Dr Steve is excellent. I would recommend him to help solve chronic health issues. I have seen numerous doctors over the years that were not as successful. Dr Steve has a lot of great tools and very good intuition to help me find my main causes of my health issues. I feel I have made great progress in a very short period of time and now I am on my way to long term good health.

If I could give The Functional Medicine Center more than 5 stars, I most certainly would. And let me tell you why... The onset of me first becoming sick occurred in April of 2017. The first round of symptoms were subtle- things like fatigue, headaches, irritability. I didn't think anything of it until it got worse- digestive issues, massive brain fog leading to major cognitive decline (the worse symptom), shortness of breath and everything went downhill from there. I can't tell you how many doctors i went to the first year this happened. I went to doctor after doctor. I remember my first visit to the emergency room the first short weeks this all started. The doctor assumed it was due to anxiety and was going to prescribe me anxiety medication. Are you kidding me? I'm over here telling the doctor my lungs feel tight and that I can barely breath and he writes me a prescription for Xanax. No thanks. I didn't give up there. The next doctor said I have asthma/anxiety. Didn't believe it for a second. They based this off no real tests. It became a guessing game. But desperate, I took inhalers after inhalers and rounds of prednisone. No difference. It only made me feel incredibly worse. Next doctor believed I had pneumonia and prescribed me antibiotics. Desperate again, and feeling hopeless at the time, I took several rounds of antibiotics. Did not help. Similar stories followed for years. No doctor that had a real solid corrective plan. After so many doctor visitations I became an expert at interrogation. I wasn't going to trust just anyone with my health. My health was bad enough as it was, but doing it on my own for the last 3 years, I was better off on my own than the first year under several doctor's care. But then something prompted me to look into a Functional Doctor. I came across The Functional Medicine Center and scheduled my initial consultation. Within the first couple appointments alone, with proper testing Dr Hyjek was able to pinpoint exactly what was going on. I was so relieved, after 4 long years, I finally got the answers I was searching for all along. I'm so glad I gave him an opportunity because 1 week into starting the treatment, my long battle with brain fog is lifting. THAT WAS THE WORSE SYMPTOM OUT OF ALL. I'm so grateful to have my brain back again and SO glad I sought treatment at the Medicine Center. Dr Hyjek is truly passionate in his work and is just the kindest most sincere doctor I personally have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I will be sending many referral his way. Thank you Doctor. Thank you for listening to me and believing me, and not thinking I'm some kook.

I had been struggling for a couple of years with horrible headaches and just overall not feeling well. Then I started getting deep muscle aches that felt like they were going to my bones. I kept gaining weight no matter how hard I worked out or what diet I tried. I felt miserable! I went to numerous doctors and they all told me I was fine. One even told me I simply needed portion control. I purchased a book about how to heal my thyroid naturally and the author mentioned functional medicine. Magically Dr. Steve was close to me. I made an appointment and was instantly impressed with his knowledge and the fact he actually listened to me and did not dismiss anything I said. After multiple tests Dr. Steve figured out the problem and got me started on a diet and supplements to start the healing process. I will admit sticking to it was not always the easiest, but I am sure glad I did. I have never felt better! I am able to workout again and see progress. I no longer feel the need to nap during the day and rarely have a headache. Please go see Dr. Steve today!

I was searching for a chiropractor for a while after moving from NorCal to SoCal. Finally found a one similar to the chiropractor I was seeing in NorCal. Dr. Hyjek definitely knows his stuff and strong enough to execute. Started me off with adjustments and routines to get my spin back in shape. After a month and a half of regular visits I definitely feel more balanced and more flexible.

I was referred to Dr Steve by some friends in the fitness industry and Lord I'm so thankful for the referral. Entering Dr Steve's office after hours due to full time father scheduling was welcomed with a smile. After a silly mountain biking accident on the 4th, I was left with what I believe is a fractured or cracked rib, and some really gnarly abrasions on my shoulder, scapula, and ribs. Although doing my best to wince through the pain, Dr Steve helped me immensely with his laser treatment, massage and adjustments that had me back on the bike in no time. Thank you Steve for restoring my mobility and getting me back on the bike. I'll definitely be coming back.
