“We have adopted 2 puppies from this shelter over the years. The 2nd pup was scared to death, shivering in the corner. We were patient, didn't invade his space and let him come to us.
There was a hold on him from a family who still wasn't sure. The attendant told us he wouldn't even come out for them or even staff and was surprised at how quickly he trusted us. Even though there was a hold on him, the staff told us we could come play with him. They saw that he accepted us and wanted what was best for the puppy. So for 4 days, my husband and I went down there and played in the indoor exercise area with him. Staff was often observing our interactions with visable joy on their faces. They could see right away that we loved and were meant for each other. I remember writing a long email to the person in charge begging for this puppy, knowing that he had a hold on him.
They then wanted to verify that we were responsible owners and had regular vet care for previous animals. They wanted to do a home visit as well, but the shelter was going to be closed the following day and he was so traumatized we didn't want him to stay a moment longer, so they accepted detailed photographs of our home and yard in lieu of the home visit. They also verified that we were homeowners (renters just have to prove landlords allow pets). They then asked us to bring our other other dog down to see how they interacted , and when they saw that she accepted him and was nurturing toward him, they agreed to let us adopt him. My husband did not think they were going to call the other family and ask that the hold be released and had tears in his eyes when he found out we could take Titan home with us that day. That was 11 years ago and Titan has physical challenges, but because of the staff at this shelter, he was ensured a good home with owners who were 100% dedicated to his happiness and well being. He has been nothing but a joy in our lives.
I read a few complaints about this shelter here and just wanted to clarify that the people there truly want what's best for the dogs and are not going to adopt them out to just anyone. There are people who might be disappointed that they have to meet basic requirements, but I would never adopt from a shelter who would not put the dog's best interests first.
I love that they were so concerned about the environment the pups would be living in. What some people would consider overly stringent requirements, I consider basic requirements for a successful, long term match with the dogs health, safety and security put first.”

“It's a homey Barn like structure.great for summer,if it's not too hot and I would like to see it upgraded somewhat.the folding chairs that have been provided for the last 4 years are not comfortable at all! I was pretty crippled up after 2 hours of sitting on them. But at least they were willing to be open!, when most places are closed! All and all it's a great place to be if you want some place to take the family and experience that western atmosphere and check out the little train that you can ride on great fun for all!”

“I love this place! We bought some chicks here this Spring. The people that helped us were so friendly and knowledgeable! They helped us select the chicks and all the things that we would need to care for them. They offered advice on how to care for the chickens for the next few months while they are still tiny and fragile. It was the real 'Ma & Pa' small town experience that is so rare to find these days.”
