We love our stays at Fort Ross Lodge! This hotel has stunning views of Sonoma’s rugged coast and has a cozy cabin feel to it. You get the best sunset views here and the wood burning fireplace makes for a very relaxing experience. Staff is very friendly and accommodating.

Great little space. Loved the view, and the room is comfy. King size bed is fabulous! Cable didn't work and the floors needed some help but otherwise a cozy, well appointed space. The staff was great!

We really enjoyed our stay! Amber was very helpful for making our stay special. We were in room 14 on the front with a hot tub. Views were great, felt very quiet there with nice walking trails. The rooms are a little dated and could use a few more things for the price but overall would come back ♡

So I booked this place for my wife and I to celebrate my 50th birthday.Seemed like a reasonable value for what was offered. Upon arrival, I went to check in between the hours suggested on emails (Suggested: 3-6:30pm). I arrived around 3:30pm. No one was at the front desk. Not a big deal as there was a note that it would be a moment for someone to come. I waited.....and waited...and...waited. I then attempted to call but there is no mobile service for me there (FYI ATT users). So now I had no way to reach anyone. Thankfully someone came finally. Friendly. We checked in.The first impression as we drive through the place: The outsides of the buildings are in dire need of repair and update. Why should I care since I am not using the OUTSIDE of the building? Well it is indicative of the overall care and concern the property owners have of their place. I understanding being near an ocean and that "rustic" term used often...but reinvestment could go along way. Very much is on the verge of being called "run-down".Our room inside was ..okay.. though. Clean but also could use an update. There were insects in the bathroom. Ok I can handle it but again...how clean is it? Finally though - the bed killed it for me. This was room 17 I believe I was checked into.I sat on what felt like a giant foam block and sunk in so far it felt like being in the middle of a net...trying to climb out. Very disappointing and I worried about even being able to get a good night's sleep. We had a dinner reservation up the road at another Lodge. We arrived there for dinner and on a hunch I inquired about room availability. They were immediately accommodating and let me check out the room and bed before taking action. Thats all it took. Reserved a new room at this adjacent lodge. I went back to quickly check out of our original room at the Fort Ross Lodge and lo/behold..again no one at the desk to let me check out asap. The nice person who originally checked me in did arrive shortly after (she was walking her dog...totally fair im a dog lover). I tried to quickly explain I was leaving because of the bed being too soft (there was more but I did not have time to get into it) and hurry back for my dinner reservation. She stood shocked and still did not advance toward me when I was holding the key out. Then her partner arrived and he asked what the issue was. At that point I just needed to go. I put the key in the box and felt relief leaving. I do not fault the staff for questioning my challenge about the bed. I think if you are to be in the office available between 3-6:30, someone should remain there at all times. I also think the overall facility needs a serious update, starting with the beds. I got an overall untrusting/creepy sense of the place. I would not recommend tbh. I am not trying to be harsh in the star rating, but I also wanted to provide context to any reader so they can make their own star rating. Maybe insects in the bathroom is a 1 star for some. Maybe a big foam block bed is a 5 star winner for others? lol

We enjoyed our stay. It’s not a new place and it's coastal, meaning some exterior structures are slightly rough around the edges. But that’s where my complaints end.Very comfortable and nicely designed rooms, good amenities, and their coffee shop/store/deli is walkable. All things considered, it’s a lovely place to spend some time and listen to the sea lions barking in the distance. We'd book again.

Such an amazing place to relax and enjoy the California coast and nature. The lodge is really great -- really simple-- it has ice, small BBQs at each room, a shared sauna, hot tub and small gym, some rooms have personal hot tubs, and a lot of grass and wildflowers where you can roam through, to the bluffs. Each room opens out to the grass/outdoors. Great spot to stay for a night as you're making your way up or down Hwy 1, or for multiple nights if you want to relax. They are super dog friendly as well, and there's enough space around that you don't frequently hear or run into other dogs. The staff is very kind and sweet too (note-there isn't a lot of staff, but they are all great and very helpful). Wonderful wonderful place!

Absolute hidden gem. Everything we we're looking for. This was my wifes first visit to the California coast and I had so much pressure to make it great. I didn't know where to stay, what to see, etc. My mom referred me to Fort Ross Lodge and it did not disappoint. Our flight got delayed so the kind women personally took care of us upon arrival and made sure we were already checked in so we could proceed straight to our room. Rooms are clean, updated just enough but not too much that it takes away that ole homie feel. Views are breathtaking on the entire property not to mention straight out your sliding glass door. The hot tub on your private porch really just tops it all off with bonus points. Even the homemade soap was impressive. I've already recommended this place to many coworkers and friends in my industry. We will be back next year, wouldn't stay anywhere else in this area!Thank you again to everyone that makes this place possible!

My husband and I visited the Fort Ross Lodge for one night. It was an amazing stay! We stayed in #17, oceanfront views with a hot tub on the back deck area. The room was updated and super clean. Highly recommend staying there!!We stopped at the grocery spot in Bodega Bay and grabbed a local bottle of wine. We also ate dinner at Coast Kitchen, which is just a few miles past the Fort Ross Lodge. (You won't have service to GPS there- plan/ map ahead)

I came to Fort Ross Lodge for a short 2 day getaway. The view is breathtaking, you can see it from most rooms, as well as from the trails directly in front of the property leading to the cliffside overlooking the ocean. The rooms are perfect if you're looking for somewhere to lay your head at night and a cozy vibe for post adventure dinners. They provide all the necessities for a cozy getaway. There are hot tubs on several room patios where you can relax and stare at the incredible view! They also have charcoal grills on each patio, and provide coals (super nice!)which was awesome to grill as the sun went down. BBQ tools and all other needed utensils such as plates and cutlery are provided in the little kitchenette. They have cozy robes in the rooms that are PERFECT for when you get out of the hot tub. You can also purchase one if you like em.The Fort Ross store across the street is so cute, the staff is nice, and it is very convenient to grab a last minute snack, ice cream, local bottle of wine, or coffee in the morning(they have an espresso bar!)I highly recommend booking a stay here. I will definitely be coming back!Nearby activities: Bodega Bay, Fort Ross, Ocean Cove, Gualala, Sea Ranch, tons of hiking trailsWalkability: the cliffs overlooking the ocean are walkable, as well as the convenience store across the street. any other local attractions are a drive away.

Further from the water than I expected but a great place to stay with a nice view of the ocean. I highly recommend spending a little extra to get a room with a spa. Beautiful flowers all over. Cute room, friendly staff, room had all the dishes needed for two and a store right across the street with a huge selection really made for an enjoyable stay. We will be back and now we know we don't have to pack so much.

It’s quite the drive from Sacramento but worth the behind the windshield time. I call this my glamping spot. Family and friends camp 10 minutes away from this resort. I stay the night at Fort Ross Lodge. I’ve spent many nights in past years and always look forward to visit again.

This place is awesome!!!! Words can't do it justice. Our ocean view room was awesome. I think the only thing I missed was a freezer.

I've been coming to the lodge for almost 32 years and have always had a wonderful relaxing time. Unfortunately, after our previous visit, I thought we might not be back. The bed was uncomfortable and the hot tub was just warm water. It was so disappointing. But that has changed!!!This time the bed was so comfortable, with lots of pillows and a new hot tub with a seat you can stretch out and relax in on the patio! The water is deep, the jets work great and my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We love sitting in the hot tub and looking at the ocean. Fort Ross Lodge provided a BBQ, Coals, BBQ tools, a mini frig, a microwave, utensils, and a beautiful set of stoneware dishes. There's a coffee machine with coffee pods, tea, creamer, sugar, and swizzle sticks. Plus, really nice terry cloth robes hanging in the closet for use and nice big towels for when you get out of the hot tub. There's also a fireplace and everything you'll need to enjoy it (except we spent so much time in the hot tub relaxing that we crashed before we could start it). The only thing missing in this room is a set of reclining wingback chairs, lol. Could I find something wrong, of course, but why, it was a fantastic stay. Thank you, Fort Ross Lodge. We had such a great time. We'll be back and I encourage you to give it a try
