Great little place to stay
2024 update
Pool has been completely filled in with dirt, the once glittering little gem of the desert lost it pool. So sad to see.

I see a lot of negative reviews on here and I just wanted to chime in that my wife and I had a 100% positive experience and loved our time at the JTree Ranch House! We stayed there mid-pandemic in July 2020. Caan and his partner were nothing but wonderful, welcoming, friendly and helpful. I’m from NYC and live in LA, the pace is slower in JTree that’s why most of us go there, I can’t speak to others’ experiences with lack of communication - but that was not our experience at all, we booked everything on Airbnb and had no issues communicating with Caan. Unless the guy has become a different person in the past 4 years I’m simply not buying these bad, weird reviews. I was looking up the place bc my wife and I are planning to return in the near future. Caan I hope you see this and I hope you’re well. Thanks for helping us create some great memories in JTree!
Rooms: Very charming with an old west flair. If you want a regular hotel room go stay at one - this is exactly what a Ranch House is expected to be.
Walkability: Just a few short blocks to several restaurants & shops which was very convenient and a very short drive to the Park itself.

I advise against!
We had booked two nights at this hotel more than a month in advance. The Booking message indicated that the host had to communicate to us via SMS the room number as well as the code to collect the key.
The day we arrived, we still had not received anything. Not worried though, we arrived at the accommodation around 8 p.m. (according to the announcement, check-in was between 3 p.m. and midnight).
There is no reception on site. Only one person was present (supposedly the former manager of the hotel) who told us that we had to contact the new manager to receive the information (room number + code).
The telephone number indicated on the Booking ad was not the correct one (it was that of the former manager who was on site but who did not know how to help us, a real headache). After finding the number of the current hotel manager, no response: call, SMS, email, nothing at all.
Finally, we had to call on the Booking service (who also tried to contact the manager but without success).
Our reservation was canceled and Booking relocated us to another location.
This kind of place should no longer appear on the Booking site. I cannot leave a comment on the Booking website itself because we did not stay in this hotel. It is important to warn future travelers because this is not admissible.
To be avoided preferably as an unreliable person.

Terrible communication, as in "non-existent" communication skills. I placed a booking here, got no email confirmation of any sort. I called the listed numbers, texted them, emailed him, just to see if he received the reservation. After a couple days of no response, I wrote again to cancel the reservation, since I didn't want to risk depending on somebody who doesn't seem to have a great track record at providing the reservations (based on reading many of his other reviews). Still haven't heard anything back from him.

Great idea and beautiful design, but the price comes with a caveat. The place canceled reservations due to bedbugs and said they would refund, however it's not possible to contact them for and my refund hasn't processed after 2 weeks :( I'm broke, so this is disheartening to say the least.

Even though we had told Caan we should be there around 6 pm, and gave him a 30-minute heads up, we had to wait for our room to finish being cleaned. Then the room was not well insulated so you can hear everything around. Even people just walking across the parking lot. The bed was so uncomfortable we both had back issues after the 1st day. We had to request hand towels and toilet paper. (We talked to 4 other rooms that all were waiting for TP that day...) The second morning I could barely walk because of the uncomfortable bed and the shower dripping all night I was unable to sleep for 2 nights. The pool that is open year-round is not heated and way too cold to swim in. It's hard to get a hold of any one as you only get a text and he rarely answers back, if he does it is a long time later...Caan had cancelled a guest's reservation because he didn't want to clean the room or something... When another couple showed up and there were people already in their room things got interesting. He then all the sudden had a room for the he just needed to clean it... Managment here is joke!!!We requested an early check-out and refund because of the conditions of the hotel. We have been ignored by Caan and the owner. The only thing I liked about the place was the French press coffee pot. The reto decorations were also kind of cute...

This is kind of a motel in rustic style. Decorated with cute stuff probably from a thrift store, but with clean, nearly new kitchen equipment, good wifi (no television, but we could watch television on our iPads), great airco (to warm the room during our stay when it was cold) and a small clean bathroom (except for the desert cockroach I saw one night). But there were some issues that were not so good/cute: no white bed linen, only 2 ‘colorful’ beachtowels instead of a set of towels, spiderwebs in the corners and lamps, the seating of the chair was demolished (they put a sheephide on it to cover this up) and the cupboards under the sink were very dirty. Overall, it was okay for the price: close to the west entrance of Joshua Tree NP, parking in front of our room, on walking distance of some restaurants and shops.

This place was very disappointing. They don’t maintain the place, have a front desk, or try to respond to their customers. If you want to try it, try calling them right now and see what you get. That’s the experience they offer. You can do better.

Do NOT book here. They will not communicate or show up when you need to check in and you will end up at Motel 6. I spoke with a couple hotels in town looking for a room after not being able to get to ahold of anyone at The Ranchhouse and apparently this place stands up guests often. Stay away from this place.

Lovingly prepared, rustic ranch with pool, highly recommended! Uncomplicated owners. Located very close to Joshua Tree National Park.
