I´m actually writing this review out of nostalgia. My hubs and I literally happened upon this place when it was still in construction way back in the 2000s. We were visiting some artist friends who were among the first to flee the L of A and I can't remember who but we stopped by while Bruce (or, eh Brian?!?) accompanied by his two dogs was busy constructing the divider walls between the rooms. Long story short, as he hadn't opened yet, we went back a few time when he was and it certainly is among the most beautiful memories of hubs and my time in the US! I don't know if it's still run under the original owner and we haven't been for the longest time because life moves fast but I just had to reminisce to the times...I have a picture of us three among the construction mess, yapping doggies in the background, chatting about our shared love of midcentury and all things retro, back when retro wasn't retro...Anyway, if it is still what it used to be, it's one of those magical, imaginative places that stay in ones heart for long. It certainly did with hubs and me! Much love to Mojave Sands and Joshua Tree (how much it has grown!?!!) from now Germany!

We have stayed here 3 times now and we just love it. We usually go for the room at the end because we like to fold into Joshua tree and pretend we live there for a few days. The room is huge (like a small apartment), immaculately clean, quite, and the little kitchen has everything you need to rustle up some tasty food. The games and record player are also nice touches which we always use. Thank you for another lovely stay ✨

Absolutely dreamy lodging just outside of Joshua Tree NP. The space is so serene, building and rooms are beautiful and location is central to everything we wanted to do.

We loved our cozy suite and the community space provided in the center area. Beautiful spot, with a wonderful host. Can't wait to be back again next winter! Incredible design and decor, clean beyond clean, comfy as hell, locking gate for us scaredy pants. Highly recommend this place if you're out in the Joshua Tree area :

A friend recommended this motel. It's even more serene and gorgeous in person. I took the advice of another reviewer and asked for Room 4 which is away from the street traffic. It's a standard room. I love everything about the design of the property. Simple, smart, clean, intentional design. No staff is on property 24/7 as clearly stated but I texted about the A/C remote and they responded promptly. (User error on my part). If you're looking for a clean, peaceful place to sleep, I highly recommend this place. I'll be back next time I'm visiting friends!

What a lovely place to stay if you're in Joshua Tree visiting the nearby national park. It is conveniently located very nearby the main commercial street, the national park visitor center and the main entrance to the park. Entering and leaving was made very easy by the dutiful staff. The grounds themselves are nestled right by the main roadway but enclosed by a private wall. The automatic gate to enter and park on the grounds was very fun to use. The entire style of the location is rustic modern and honestly whomever designed this place deserves significant praise, it's lovely and captures the Neill Young kind of vibe I was hoping to experience in Joshua Tree. My suite, which was very spacious and comfortable was also meticulously designed and I thought the design details were exceptional. The bathroom and shower were particularly breathtaking. Some notes I would offer are that while I felt my privacy was intact, I found it odd that there were porthole windows on each door at about average male height. I also thought it was not insignificantly loud, though my room was closest to the roadway where that would be expected. I loved the dimmer switches but the main lighting in each room was a bit too dim overall. And while I respect the choice to not have carpeting from a design and cleaning standpoint, a few carpets to allow guests to have a non cold place to touch their feet to the ground would be welcome. Overall though I really loved this place and would recommend it for your stay.

Such a gorgeous and serene property. The rooms are sparkling clean and have a modern, minimalist decor that blends perfectly with the desert. Room 5, a suite, with an outdoor shower and tub, is fantastic. I'll definitely stay in 5 again if it's available. The location is super convenient to the park and the shops/restaurants. The Manager is friendly and gave very detailed directions and info. Huge fan of this place!

The Mrs. and I are wrapped up our overnighter in Joshua Tree and our stay at the Mojave Sands Motel. This motel is much more than a motel. It's a compound for contemplation, a cocoon of serenity, a bastion of the basics one needs in life. You enter Mojave Sands off of a dirt road and arrive at a rather imposing large rusted metal gate. You enter the gate code that is provided to you and the gate rolls back and you're in. We stayed in room 4. All the rooms have a small patio area in front of them that has a fountain, two chairs, a table, and a bench. Room 4 is very minimalist in its design. The walls are concrete. The ceiling adorned with wood. There is a bed that appears to float off the ground. Two chairs, some lamps, and a typewriter that is the vessel of information for your stay. There is no tv. The bathroom is large which surprised me. The shower is very large so I guess if you wanted to have company...4 people could easily fit in the shower. There is a record player with records available for your listening pleasure. I opted for some Jim Croce. And for your culinary needs. A fridge and a French Press for your coffee and an electric tea kettle to warm up your water for coffee or tea. The grounds of Mojave Sands are beautiful. There is a pond with some Koi in it and several areas to sit and enjoy the scenery. There is a large table that I could only imagine piling food on and having a great meal with family and friends. You can even have a fire when conditions weather conditions allow for it. Mojave Sands is in a great location. It is about a 10 minute walk to the Joshua Tree Saloon, Crossroads Cafe, and the Joshua Tree National Park store.
