This place is the place. It’s got class, charm, tranquility, nostalgia…all with superior service, cleanliness, exquisite taste, and thoughtful grace.
If you’re looking for a place with AC, modern flair, kick a** WiFi, and room service, this is not your place. Those places exist aplenty, but this isn’t it. If you don’t like wood paneled walls, giant pools, bespoke trailers plucked from time 74 years ago, nature (and all the awesome natural things that come with true nature), this is not your place.
For the rest of us that love silent, no frills luxury away from the city; for those of us that miss the finer things in life, and can make do with a pool and rotating fan on a hot day with a cocktail in hand (byob, but no glass), this is the place.

We stayed for President's Day weekend in February 2024 as a surprise bday getaway from the hubs. The rooms were clean, comfortable, warm, and felt like home. The little touches here and there, like the tampons in the bathroom, Bluetooth connection to the bumping speakers in the living room and the comfy bed sheets made it feel inviting. We didn't want to leave. We preferred this location over staying in downtown Julian since it can get crowded and seems like you get more property than the usual bed and breakfast room. I would not recommend this property for small children as it has stairs that I myself had to be careful, especially at night when using the bathroom. It has no TV as it's a cabin like feel but has central air. The area felt safe, quiet, would love to stay here again.
Rooms: Comfy sheets, extra sheets in downstairs bedroom closet with extra foldup bed. Felt warm with central air heating the place. You could hear the frogs at night from the loft bedroom upstairs. The heater and central air turns on every so often at night. If light sleeper bring ear plugs.
Nearby activities: Hiking and eating downtown Julian.

Had a wonderful stay even though the weather was horrible. You definitely have to come during summer when the pool is open, but we had a wonderful time playing around on the piano in the clubhouse

This review is in regards to the vintage trailers. Pinecrest is a beautiful location, and the vintage trailers have a lot of potential. We stayed in September and it definitely was very hot. I wish that all of the trailers had AC.I was disappointed to learn that the trailers don't lock from the outside. They tell you to keep your valuables in your car. A. This is inconvenient, B. I am not sure if the spartan locked from the inside either. I feel like the locks are something that they should definitely invest in fixing. The spartan also has a very small water heater. I think that they told us 2 gallons when we called. I couldn't even get through a shower without it running out. We called because we thought maybe it could be fixed but they let us know the water heater is small but they have public showers available. Since it was hot I toughed it out.My brother stayed in the mansion and it had a bad smell in it. It bothered his girlfriend a lot. They did have AC and their hot water was fine. Their trailer also did not lock from the outside. The trailers are cute, and we liked the vintage decor but they need some work done. I feel like their trailers have a lot of potential if they would just invest in them a bit. My husband and I stayed at another location that had vintage trailers. They were definitely nicer. AC, hot water, new linoleum, locks and keys, and did not have a bad smell. I hope that pinecrest can improve their vintage trailers. I think that if they improved them they would have a lot more return business.

To our family, this is better than disney land. Pinecrest refreshes us, regrounds us, make us feel like Norm at cheers, and makes our soul complete. Pull in through the gate and relax.

We stayed in the 1959 Safeway and had an awesome time. Everyone there was super cool, it was affordable and our trailer was incredible. Beautiful location and so much to do in Julian. The pool was great and our twelve year old made new friends. I highly recommend Pinecrest.

Pinecrest Retreat was a perfect weekend escape for my boyfriend and I (plus our dog). We rented the Traveleze and it was adorable. The camper was clean and provided enough room for us to comfortably cook, eat, sleep and hangout in between hikes. We would definitely come back again!

We have been going for five years now and each stay gets better then the last! Pinecrest never disappoints in its hospitality, hikes, pool and stars! Walking the park is one of our favorite things to do, the beautiful Vintage trailers, exquisite trails throughout the park and views you can't beat. If you are looking to rent a place or camp I highly recommend Pinecrest Retreat!!

We LOVE this fantastic, quiet retreat away from all the noise of the city! Keep on doing what you are doing, Pinecrest family!

Used to be a really nice tent-camping spot. There was camping in the midst of trees and a natural setting. The tent camping has been moved to a parking lot. Literally, a dirt and gravel parking lot. This is also not a very family-friendly place. There are noise restrictions before 8am that are difficult for families with small children. The pool hours are limited for kids as well, particularly during the week. Generally would not recommend for families.
