Powder Canyon is a popular and scenic trail located in a suburban area of southern California. The trail offers a variety of routes, with many winding trails that navigate through rugged terrain featuring low and high points, including some steep sections with switchbacks. It is considered a moderate hike, suitable for both beginners and experienced hikers, providing a good workout with gentle inclines and beautiful scenery. The canyon is especially stunning in spring, showcasing vibrant wildflowers and a variety of wildlife such as rabbits, ground squirrels, mule deer, and coyotes. Visitors are advised to keep a safe distance from animals and avoid feeding them. The trail is well-designed and winds through shaded areas with many trees, making it a pleasant place for walks even on hot days. Fall visits are particularly beautiful, with colorful leaves falling in a peaceful, windy setting that offers picturesque views, including sights of the Pacific Palms hotel and the 60 freeway. The trail can get busy on weekends, and parking at the trailhead may be limited, requiring parking on a dirt road that might be challenging for sedans. Using the All Trails app helps hikers map their routes, which often include connecting trails like Nogales, Black Walnut, Purple Sage, and Buena Vista, leading to scenic overlooks and regional parks. Dogs are welcome but must stay on a leash at all times. Overall, Powder Canyon provides a well-rounded outdoor experience with scenic views, wildlife, and multiple trail options for all skill levels.

Nice hike. Great workout. It has many different trails to venture off too. I just stuck to the Powder trail. I would rate it as a moderate hike. There is incline, but itโs not steep.

Medium trail with a beautiful scene. In spring you can see many rabbits on the road.
