Never got a chance to visit when I was a student. Didn’t realize the school owns this fabulous place too, wow. Why didn’t I study oceanography or marine biology? Must be super fun.
I had a wonderful day here during the homecoming event! Saw lots of amazing creatures.

The main aquarium was not opened, but they had additional areas to explore and learn. Wish their website was clearer. Will go back when the entire thing is open and update the review.
Please be more strict with guests, they disrespected your exhibits, and climbed on places they shouldn't. This is too precious a place to have people act like fools.

I don't think how much we paid for was worth how much they currently offer. I understand that they are still expanding but dang. A land lock state like oklahoma has a bigger aquarium for the same price. You would think with it being so close to the coast there would be more to see. You're better off going snorkeling. In total we saw everything they had to offer in about 20-30 minutes.

The aquarium is 60% closed. The entire north wing of the aquarium is shut down. Until summer 2025. No octopus, no jellyfish, no eels, no turtles, were visible. Prices should be adjusted accordingly or be made free because honestly there are aquatic fish retail stores in San Diego that have as interesting of a collection as what is being offered at Scripps currently for $26/person.

This place is always a pleasure to visit. Great for bringing your kids and exploring what the sea has to offer. I love the layout of this space and how it has indoor and outdoor experiences. They did a nice job setting up the penguin viewing area and made it really immersive towards the left wing. I appreciate how close the bathrooms are and how well-thought out the space is.

Worst aquarium I’ve ever been to. We spent over $30 per ticket and walked the whole thing in 19 minutes. Do not waste your time or money, do not go here. The ocean view from the back was the best thing they had. The “shark” tank is dirty. They had 50 sea horses and some (very cute) penguins and that’s about it. Half of it was apparently closed for renovations but why would they continue to charge full price for half of the experience. Would never go back. Go to petsmart to see more exotic fish

The first time I came here it was a great experience. I took my kids with me this time thinking that we will be able to see everything that was said on a website, pamphlet that we got, and what we saw last time but this time over half of the aquarium was closed and my wife and I had paid all that money for those tickets to see almost nothing. They should have give us a heads up or say something on their website stating that a lot of renovation was going on. They should have just closed the aquarium until the renovation is done. We feel like we could have seen all that out of fish store.

We have been visiting Birch Aquarium on and off for several years and it never disappoints. The exhibits are well maintained and provide ample information. The creatures are fascinating and just awe inspiring. The ocean views from their outdoor touch pools are absolutely breathtaking. We also love sitting down and just watching the kelp sway back and forth and the ocean friends go about their day in the aquarium’s large tank. The only downside, when visiting on certain days, the place can get quite busy/packed. We visit maybe 1-2x a year and we would definitely visit again. We paid $84.85 for 2 adult tickets and one child ticket.
