I went to the 7908 El Cajon $1 Store on Sept 27, 2025 to do a return on an $7 item. I had purchased the day before at another $1 Store.
The manager refused to do a return. I had the receipt. Manager told me I could only do an exchange. I explained that the other locations do returns. She said it's just exchange. As I was checking out, because she told me I had to do the shopping today. She told me again that online it says only exchanges. However Online it clearly says returns. Don't go to this location to do a return. I felt scammed into shopping more when I didn't want to spend the money.

I went to the store Aug 21/2025 at around 2pm to ask a question there was 2 people and the young man lights skin with breed hair I tried to say hi and he Igor me he just stare at me and I just walked out because I already knew the answer with be negative or not helpful

This spacious store is conveniently located near the I-8, with easy access from the freeway. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and ready to help.
At this store you will find a wide selection of items, including groceries, hygiene essentials, household cleaners, kitchenware, party supplies, seasonal décor, and more. The shelves were well stocked, and the aisles were clean and organized, making for a pleasant and efficient shopping experience.
The free parking lot was spacious and parking spots are easy to find.

Wow. This dollar tree 🎄 store is big & wide full of shelves and not so much merchandise. I found some great items. Will come back again.

The shelves are empty and had nothing i was looking for that I'm able to purchase at other dollar trees. Depressing shopping expereince with no music playing and half the shelves having little to nothing on them. I will not be returning.

Manager is unaware of the companies own return policy & flat out refused to do an exchange at current price of 4 items I had lost the receipt to. Not sure if it’s a lack of training, or laziness, but I will not be returning here. How can you be a manager & not know a simple policy like this, and be rude to customers? After reading reviews, seems like I’m not the only one with this experience.

Clearly a common theme here among the reviews—management at this location is terrible. however, I will try to keep things positive. As a result of this terrible management I did end up looking up some policies on dollar tree’s website, which I think is good information for everyone to have. Please look at the picture I posted for Dollar tree‘s most recent return policy- it is not what management thinks it is or tries to enforce. It is surprising how many dollar tree employees including the ones here are not aware of the current policy. Second, if you ever need a duplicate receipt because the cashier didn’t give you one you can request one from corporate. No, really there is a standard form. It takes about 2 to 3 days to get the receipt. Other than that— short review — due to the management here and how terrible they wereI was so upset with the treatment by management that I ended up avoiding over $100 of impulse buys- i.e. I abandoned a cart which probably would have been $70 on one shopping trip and I returned over $30 of impulse buys from the previous shopping trip. So overall really great outcome for me! Despite the great outcome, I don’t feel like “Management is so terrible, they dissuaded me from shopping here” — is a positive review so the one star rating is warranted . In a world where you can’t throw a rock without hitting a dollar tree don’t come to this one.

Manger horrible and mean couldn't purchase some items and someone tried help me cuz short on money and manager bans me then guy working there starts threatening and taking stuff personal always loved dollar tree and this is the worse most unprofessional one ever been to girl with glasses and short hair tho fyi always helpful

Its ridiculous that this corporation threatens its cashiers /employees with bad marks if a customer decides not to purchase a product that has already been scanned and a manager has to go and void said product, I was given the big lecture by both cashier (who was very young and I could tell the treats made to her by management and corporate had her very concerned for her employment , eventually she will realize they need her more than she needs them) and was lectured by the manager about not putting items on the belt that I do not intend to buy, the cashier and manager are not at fault for this corporate policy and will soon figure out that a paying customer has every right to change his mind at the last minute for whatever reason without having to explain themselves. Whoever came up with this ridiculous rule at the top is the one who should be fired for trying to micro manage the paying customer and causing unnecessary and hostile environments at the registers. Btw employee was great manager not so much as I do not feel like I should be talked down to like a child and lectured on how I should purchase my goods. Good day too you sir!!!
