Do not go here! Very money hungry hospital, I don’t even know if my pet got adequate treatment. I just got a call and was notified that my rabbit was opened, barely even having a heartbeat. 5 minutes later I was told he was dead. I only left the hospital for a few minutes and even the receptionist couldn’t even tell me he was in surgery. I would give zero stars, and if an other vet recommends me this Emergency hospital I will not be taking my loved one here.

I have brought a few of my dogs here and have always received great care. Of course its a little pricey but that’s to be expected. Tonight my dog had an allergic reaction swelled up pretty bad in his face and broke out in hives once he was ready to be seen the swelling went down and he looked better they still looked at him gave us some advice and sent us in our way. They were exceptional and calmed my nerves!

Bad reputation I know we've taken animals here before and not always the best. Lastnight my senior dog had a seizure and the said it would be an extremely long wait but they did give me a name of somewhere else local which I appreciated and they were good

The staff was super attentive and nice. They took great care of my pup for two nights and I appreciate everything they did for him. They communicated well and even let us visit our pup. They answered any questions I had. Only downfall is the billing was a bit confusing as I was charged more than expected and no one at the front desk could explain why. I am still waiting for a call back which I have still not received. But aside from that everything was amazing. Hoping to hear back from them soon

This has always been the emergency vet for the La Mesa area, and it has always had a sketchy reputation. I've gone here for various emergencies over the years, knowing it will be at least 3x the cost of a regular vet, and that they will suggest every expensive test under the sun, but that's what happens at a 24 hr vet right? Today, I walked in at 6:30 am with my dog (not life threatening issue, but needed emergency care), and was told it was the shift change and I'd be seen by 7:30. Not happy, but ok, it's an ER. By 7:30 I was told at least another hour so the hospital patients could be checked on. Another lady in the waiting room was told the nearest alternative was ESCONDIDO and she left for Escondido. When I was told it would be at least 2 MORE hours, I left and took my dog to Mission Valley, where she was seen, treated and done within an hour.

Didn't give my dog pain meds & had to leave her there all day while she was in terrible pain. The pain meds they gave me didn't work or help her1

I had to put my guinea pig down today
my guineas eye needed to be removed, and they needed to take an x ray of his bladder as well. It would cost me just about 4000$ for everything. The price went up to about 6500$. i dont have the amount of money. On the bright side, Ms. Messiah Was very professional and soothing. She even brought me lettuce, blueberries and green beans when i had to say goodbye to my buddy. Thank you again messiah

I brought my dog Calla in a couple of times to PESC and each time the staff has been terrific with her. Calla was diagnosed with Copper Storage Disease and has to be on medication for the rest of life. Calla is seeing Dr. Chisholm who is a fantastic doctor and is keeping Calla's disease under control, I couldn't ask for better care. Thank you to all the staff for being so caring and compassionate.

We had to take our wirehaired dachshund here on a Sunday night after she was stung by a bee and was having an allergic reaction. We called ahead to let them know we were on the way, when we arrived they grabbed her from me and took her straight to the back. The front desk girls were super sweet relaying updates from the back and also explaining initial cost expectations.
The vet, Dr. Henry, spoke with us and reassured us that Pixel was doing better and gave us 2 different prognosis and discharge scenarios depending on how Pixel responded to initial treatment. It was decided she needed to stay the night and again, they clearly communicated our new estimate (both high and low) and collected payment for that low estimate before we left. The overnight vet was kind enough to call us with an update around 1 or 2 am and let us know we could come get her in the morning. When I arrived to pick her up I was thrilled to hear we actually were getting a partial refund on what we paid the night before since she didn't need all of the care that was initially estimated.
I felt that Pixel received the appropriate amount of care and was well loved during her visit. They even let us bring in her favorite blanket during her stay. Hopefully we don't need to go back here, but if we do, I know she'll be in good hands.

If you care for your animals, take them somewhere else. I would never take my animals there again. After waiting 8 hrs for them to see my dogs, who were injured and attacked by two other dogs, they refused to even clean their wounds for me unless I agreed and paid for them to keep them overnight, which they did not need. I had to take my dogs home and take them the next day to their vet, one of my babies got a bad infection because this vet would not clean their wounds. Horrible place, I don’t understand how they are even in business?
