I have posted a review with the corporate office as well. The employees are great to with but be aware… Promotional rates are just that. Once a couple months go by you are hit with rent increases of 50-90%. I have been with the Ladera Ranch property since it was Smart Stop before they were Extra Space and returned to Smart Stop. I am paying more than people just renting from the property at street rate with no promotion. The employees are not empowered to do anything except email their district manager. The process takes weeks to resolve with multiple call backs. In my last incident the district manager agreed to roll back my rent to the old rate which was still $50 higher than street rate, but 30 days later I was hit with another rent increase that was higher than before the roll back. Unless you really need short term storage or
the proximity convenience I would stay away from Smart Stop. Their promotions are just gimmicks to get you enrolled but expect sharp rent increases within a few months!

Michael was very knowledgeable and helpful in showing us around the SmartStop building. He was accommodating when we weren’t satisfied with the first storage unit. The storage unit itself was clean and had air conditioning! Appreciated the excellent customer service!

3 stars because the employees at the branch, especially Michael, are awesome and super helpful.
That being said, beware the predatory practices that the corporate office employs. They will offer you low “promotional” rates to lure unsuspecting customers in. After just a few months they will significantly raise your rent, hoping that you either will 1) not notice or 2) roll over and accept it. This practice has really soured my view of the company and I will spread the word to friends and family to stay away for that reason.

Excellent storage place. Mike took me around, explained everything very well, showed me several options. The premises are clean. The process is easy. Highly recommend. Be sure to ask for Mike. Very knowledgeable and professional!
