A driver made a dangerous maneuver and almost hit my car while driving. I was hoping to resolve this by making a formal complaint, but was told that the only way to resolve the issue is by contacting the police. There should really be a way to resolve the issue without having to resort to law enforcement.

If I need a truck for the second time I would not reserve from this company, they are just scamming people, we got the truck then I checked the full it showed it is full but the mileage was 299 we moved and put the fuel back it took 20 gallons even I had 100 miles and the mileage went to 400 then I noticed we paid $100 extra without the another $100 just for fuel, they set the timer on the way that shows the truck is full but it is not they are just scamming people.

Reserved a 12 foot truck well in advance, showed up at the business (very rough and untidy place) and was told the truck was not there. No apology given, I was simply told there were no trucks available. The clerk went on to tell me there are no 12 foot or large trucks available at any rental place anywhere in California. This was a complete lie as we went to Home Depot right after, which had 4 trucks available. Incredibly unprofessional and I have no idea why Budget let us reserve a truck if its not available.

I used Costco's website to reserve a truck through this company a month before my move. On the day of the move we go to pick up the truck at 8:00 AM, that was in my reservation. Out front there were a bunch of people moving things from one truck to another. I attempt to go inside and the owner asks me if he can help me. I say I am there to pick up a truck, he says he doesn't have any, I say I have a reservation, he says what do you want me to do, I don't have any trucks. Needing the truck that day, I leave and go to Penske in Santa Ana, (2000 E Wilshire Ave, Santa Ana, CA 92705) where the service was great and the truck was wonderful. The worst part of the experience was a couple of days later when I received a charge of $75 on my credit card from Budget for not showing up for my reservation. Skip these people and go to Penske:

If you want to rent a truck from a garbage dump, then this is the place for you. It is hands-down, by far, the most atrociously disgustingly dirty truck rental business location that I've ever seen. I've rented trucks 25 times from various locations in my lifetime in various cities. This was so unreal it almost as though it was out of a movie from the future where the world has gone to hell. Think Mad-Max.When you arrive, it feels as though you've gone to a motorcycle gang's hangout because there are several Harley or similar bikes there out in front. It appears that I arrived on a movie set and that a brawl was about to commence, and that you should be afraid too. If that wasn't enough, they have a tent outside like the kind you'd typically see at a swapmeet. Under it is a bbq and a table with food and all sorts of garbage and crap sitting in front of the office with chairs. It's their lunch and dinner table. Of course, with ashtrays so that everyone can smoke just 4 feet outside the front door of the rental office. All of this is so completely and ridiculously unprofessional, just like their attitude. When you arrive to rent the truck, they act as though you're bothering them. They are not welcoming but rather quite the opposite. First off, they blatantly ignore the law. Smoking is not permitted in any public place in California, but they don't care. I asked an older gentleman who appeared to be in charge, why he was smoking. He ignored me. Then I asked him why he wasn't wearing a mask. He told me to focus on myself and not to worry about him. Only one of the reps, the only one who wasn't rude, wore a mask, and didn't smoke. The other two elder gentlemen refused to reasonably acknowledge any ordinances or the health concerns of their patrons. The state mandates that all personnel in public places wear masks for protection in transmitting or acquiring Covid-19, and patrons (which I did). Nonetheless, they didn't care about this either. Just completely rude.It doesn't end there. The office was disgustingly dirty, as was the truck. When I asked, they told me that they were not allowed to wash the trucks. So basically, no one can grab some Window cleaner and some towels and at least wipe down the dashboard and the windows so we can see through the window??? Nope... they refused that too. I don't know if this location is a franchise or corporate-owned, but if I were in any corporate management level for Budget truck rental, I would shut them down or fire the two smoking employees who refused to wear masks. I'd also require a major cleanup and revamp. Perhaps it time to call CAL-Osha. I understand that fines can get up as high as $100K. I hope that their smoking and their choice not to wear masks are worth that price and likely losing their franchise or their jobs. As an ex-smoker, I wouldn't imagine it would be. Do yourself a favor and go to U-haul or anywhere else.

Getting the truck was a little tricky over phone, nothing too crazy though. However, once I got there, Eddie was EXTREMELY helpful. We had a storage unit right next to Budget that had super tight alleyways and my first time driving it, to load up the storage unit, it took me over 30 minutes to maneuver the truck. Eddie volunteered to drive the truck for me and help get it into the storage place. He made everything so simple and was incredibly helpful. It may not seem like the most upscale workplace but old school values and thoughtful work ethic is something that isn't seen often anymore. Thanks for all your help Eddie.

Most of this was an awful experience. First and foremost, Budget's website is horrible. The site does not refresh properly, so when you thought you had secured your reservation, it says the truck is rented. I finally had to move up from a 14' truck that I wanted... to a 26' truck. It's a monster. So when I got the keys, they were super nice but the truck was not clean. The seat was covered in cat hairs. There was an empty water bottle on the dashboard. There's not even an instruction manual. The truck was not comfortable ride wise, and hard to maneuver, and intimidating. Even refueling was an issue, and it was hard to tell how much was in the tank or how much to put in. The return was easy, but I got a missed call from the owner a day later, and he didn't leave me a message. I called him back, and got his staff and they didn't know why he called. I tried him back the next day and one of his associates told me when they looked up my account that I was charged extra for fuel. The owner would not take my call or bother calling me back. Never going to use these guys again.

Neither had the truck nor the dolly that were reserved well in advance. Lied that they tried to notify me about it stating that I gave them "wrong" phone number. So we had to completely scramble our plans last minute because they failed to fulfill their reservation.

The Budget place we used to go to is no longer in operating. This is the next closest place. Far different environment than what we were used to. This place is a moving company and more of a rough and tumble operation. They are straight forward and the rental pricing is about the same as the last place, but don't expect an inviting place of business. It's been around for quite a few years and it shows. The office probably hasn't been cleaned since they started business. Carpet is filthy, decor is just whatever from the 70s and there is clutter everywhere. It's a little uncomfortable with nowhere to sit while you wait and if there is a chair available you probably wouldn't want to sit on it. Seems like Budget would expect a little higher standard. But in the end I got the truck I needed at a fair price.
