I agree 100 percent with the latest reviews about rentals...he did not explain the contract at all and rushed me to sign it and then filled out the rest which included commitement to "8" months which he never informed me about. I had no idea that I couldn't return the instrument sooner. I thought it was month to month. Also, he charged me for cleaning kit, reeds, "starter fee" and all these other things...I walked out with a 115$ dollar bill to rent a clarinet when I thought it would be 25$ per month!!! I don't even know what he charged me for!!! Ridiculous! He needs to be more honest and upfront about what the rental contract is and what I was purchasing. Terrible experience!! I even told my school how horrible the experience was because the PTA handed out the flyer referring to him.

I walked in and whoever was in charge was being really impatient with a mom and her kids. He looked past the mom and flatly asked me if he could help me, I said, "Oh I don't mind if you finish helping her." The poor mom. I started looking at music books and when he was done with the mom, he just started restocking and ignored me. So, I went up to him and said, "Hi! Can I ask you a few questions?" He wouldn't look at me and replied, "What KIND of questions?". I said, "oh..I...maybe I should just wait for the owner if my questions need to be qualified before I ask them? :/" He said, "yah. you should"! He was so unkind.I wasn't upset or anything-I'm a really a friendly person-I was just so confused at the treatment. There was no one else in the store at 3:30 on a weekday-no teachers or students at all. All the class rooms were empty and no one was teaching. If the owner reads this, I had money to spend, but walked out :/

He's too busy to give patient, thorough service. Signing the contract he waved my questions aside and said he'd fill it out. I have no idea what I signed. It's too rushed. There are always people behind you pressuring you. Sometimes he isn't there or cuts you short to go in the back.

May be ok for classes, but I don't recommend them for renting instruments unless it's a short term rental. Anything longer term (including 'rent-to-own') you're better off just buying a new instrument. If your kid(s) decide not to continue, even after a year, you can sell your instrument and come out even or better than paying the fees here. Most instruments are used and you're getting charged as if they were new.

Planning to rent an instrument for school? I suggest you DO NOT go to Tim's!!! If you're not sure if your child will stick with it, the school district has instruments available. They are as good, or even BETTER than what you will get from Tim. (At least as far as my son and daughter's violins are concerned). You're thinking his rent-to-own program may be beneficial? He will value the instrument to which your rental fees will apply at list price and only provide you with a USED instrument. In the case of my son's violin, it was pretty beat up. Functional, but aesthetically very poor. And the case had a broken hinge. I've attached some photos. This is how it came. My kids know how to handle their instruments. Also, if you start with an instrument below full size, your child WILL OUTGROW the instrument. He will not just switch out to a larger size, like you'd expect. He wanted $490 EXTRA in the last month of the full contract length to switch out my daughter's 1/2 size to a USED full size violin. The violin model he provides can be purchased NEW for that amount or less when on sale or you ask for a deal (online or at JIM's Music in Tustin, who by the way also has lower rental fees!). I will get her a better and new one and donate her old one. I had been trying to get her the larger size for several months, but he did not have any available and asked to check again later. Never did he mention that he would charge EXTRA for the swap out until he finally had some available. I would have cancelled the contract way earlier. Early on I made the mistake of returning the instrument each summer. This breaks the contract and you start from scratch. He claims to notify people of that, but must have forgotten in my case. Several times. So with that, over the years I spent over $3,000 in rental fees for my children, and even knowing this he still has the gall to charge $490 for the proper size my daughter needs. In summary, big time buyer's remorse on my part here. Especially with a seller who just keeps pointing at what's written in his contracts instead of trying to make something right for a customer. If you do decide to rent from Tim's, take someone who knows the category of instrument you are renting, and do not accept any instrument that does not live up to your expectations. I only know my way around guitars and simply assumed that the instrument and agreement would be fair.

I love the place. What more can I say. All different medias for music, pretty cool assortment of DVDs across all genres, and great merch from all types of bands (shirts, posters, etc.).

We adore Mr. Tyler! Our 8 year old is learning the bass guitar with him since 2018. He is a great teacher, always on time, pushes her to learn and perfect what he is teaching her and a great communicator with parents. We are always excited for bass lessons.

Everything is over priced! We went here hoping to get some help and all we were told was that we should go online and find a different instrument. The person they have on charge was rude and looked down on us, very poor manners, never going here again and definitely not recommending my other friends to come here!

We had a trial lesson here. My son loved Brenda as a piano teacher. We tried to schedule for piano lesson, but the guy who was answering the phone ignored me several time. One time he hung up on me, and one time he put me on hold for 15 min and he didn't answer the phone.

I can't believe that a small store in such a nice community could have such... malicious interests. We bought 4 sticks of $15 dark rosin for the cello which were extremely poor quality. On top of that, we bought cello mutes which were $20 each which were ineffective, inefficient, and CRAZY OVERPRICED. We went to guitar center to get $3 mutes which we use to this day.
