Mercado El Rey Lake Forest is a clean, organized, and busy Mexican market. It is a favorite place for many, described as a gem and a cool find. The store is well-stocked with just about everything needed for weekly groceries, including a large selection of very fresh, ripe, and great-looking produce, dairy, canned goods, and Mexican candies. The meat counter is really awesome, with helpful attendants and very tasty, well-priced options like marinated meats and diced yellow chicken for tacos. Inside, the restaurant serves very delicious food with homemade seasoning and a lot of variety, though some note it can be a little expensive. The market also features a smoothie and juice bar, an ice cream bar, and delicious churros on a special deal. Prices throughout are very reasonable and fantastic compared to big chain stores. While the staff and cashiers are often described as nice and great, there are occasional comments that some cashiers are not friendly. The shopping experience is fast, with fresh hot food to go and perfect for picking up ripe food to eat within the week.
I always go just for the meat market. Phenomenal selection of meat, poultry, pork and seafood. So many options and marinated items. I love the habenero chicken. Great service and prices
