I love this place. great for hiking, massive views, steep hikes, very educational. Philip Lambert, is a very hard worker, silverwood's resident manager. I've never seen anybody work harder. I have volunteered out here and I'm a very hard worker, but Phill, he puts me to shame. The pictures below are from our Trail clearing just a few months ago, while I was volunteering. Sincerely. Daniel Neale.

This was such a lovely find! Not crowded at all, even though there was a large group in the bird watching area (and tons of birds!). Very friendly docent at the front to greet you and give you a trail map.

I was eager to see what this place had to offer but they were closed when I visited on Saturday 6/5/22. Not sure if this means they are temporarily closed to the public or whether they happened to be closed that specific day. I'll return soon to give it another shot and update my review. The drive out through Barona alone was awe inspiring. Make sure to also visit the Barona Reservation History and Welcome Center a few miles up the road.

The place were the bird feeders are looked like a junk yard. There was even a truck with its hood up looking like it had been abandoned. The guy working there was rude. The worst part was that the bird feeders looked dirty and half of them were empty.

Even though you have to make reservations due to covid, it is worth it! It was so peaceful, and since they aren't allowing a ton of people in at once, it makes it even better. The trails are nice and I love that there are signs that say which trail you're heading on. And it's easy to find where you're at when you read the map. We seen some neat plants, and a nest as well. I will definitely come back.

Walk up the slight incline to the benches to watch the birds at watering holes and bird feeders. Canyon wren, california quail, scrub jay, Anna's hummingbird, spotted towhee.

A treasure! Go check it out and let the ranger take you on a tour. So much to learn about our natural environment.

Lots of relatively easy hiking trails with great birding and butterfly-watching opportunities and some nice views of East County. Like that the plant markers are in English, Latin, and Kumeyaay. If I had to name any complaints about this place it would be that it's only open on Sundays and, because of high fire risk, only for a limited time of the year.

I don't know how to best describe this place. I'm not much of a hiker, birder, a trail Blazer or a plant guy, but after taking that tour and talking when the the staff I think I could have have found a new passion. I don't want to tell anymore because I think that being on site tells so much more than any pictures I e posted or reviews online. The tour guide draws you in and explains at a very fast detailed level (So be sure to ask questions about everything and regret nothing). I couldn't type fast enough and think you should take an audio/video recording just to go back over. It was fun. You will see what I mean when you get there.

Shhhhh...Don't tell anyone!!! This place is fabulous! Volunteers at the entrance having you register and there to answer questions. A sweet, informative little visitor cabin. An area with benches and binoculars and bird feeders. Saw orioles. Lovely. Nice volunteer there, too. Lots of well maintained trails. Thank you, Audubon Society. Only on Sundays, except in heat and big rain. Best to call ahead of visit...Just to be sure.

A beautiful area with hiking for all skill levels as well as an observation area suitable for those with limited or no mobility. The volunteer docents are great and able to answer many questions about the local ecosystem as well as assist with identification of flora and fauna. There is even a small cabin with indoor museum-style exhibits.
