Made a reservation through the Costco Travel website for a 4 day rental of an intermediate SUV. The website likens this to a Toyota Rav4. The car provided was a Ford Escape.A couple of days before the trip, I checked prices, and they'd gone down by about $70.00, so I re-booked at the lesser price. Upon my arrival, the car was ready for me but parked across the street, which I thought was odd. Also, the clerk had a small form in which he had checked the "odor free" box and asked me to sign the acknowledgment that I had examined the car. I added the word "NOT" examined... and then signed. When I got into the car, it REEKED of body odor. This little detail made me suspicious, so before I left with the car, I videoed all around it, making note of every scratch, ding or pock. Thus, the 4 star review.Upon returning the car, I reported the odor and was told that all Fords have this issue... yuck.Nevertheless, the car performed well. The price for a 4 day rental was less than $60/day, including tax. One surprise was the $200 deposit. I didn't see that requirement, but it was immediately refunded to my credit card when I returned the car. No biggie, but it would've been nice to see or read that before making the reservation. I haven't rented a car in many years so perhaps that's the new normal?Another point. I was picking up a friend on the way and wanted to add her as a secondary driver. I called the previous day to ask how to go about it as she lives 100 miles away and would obviously not be with me when I pick up the car. (Through the Costco website, the secondary, non-relative driver is free.) The clerk on the phone at this Lancaster location told me that in order to add her she would need to provide her own credit card, but we could add her at any Avis site along the way. We stopped at an Avis location along the 15 Freeway, added her as a driver, and though she offered her credit card, it was not necessary. Perhaps that's a unique requirement of this Lancaster store?

I have been a customer of Avis for YEARS! I would even go out of my way to come to this location due to the service, but it has tanked. I made a reservation two weeks in advance for a full size car. When I came to pick up my car, it took forever (which is not normal). Then, out of the smattering of cars they had left (suvs, jeeps, minivans, sedans, etc) the young man proceeds to hand me the keys to a dinky Toyota(and wasn't going to alter the price unless I said something). It was the smallest, oldest car there! I expressed that that was not what I reserved and that that car would not benefit the long distance I am travelling. He just shrugged his shoulders and said "that's all that I have." Why is that all you have when I made a reservation? I had to refuse because that car would not have made the journey (hence why I wanted full size). NOTE: from what I could overhear, mine was not the only reservation they messed up. On the hunt for another car, a worker at another Avis stated that the Avenue J site was sending their cars out to other lots. So they gave my car away. If two weeks is not enough notice, how far in advance would it take to ensure that I get the car I reserve (and pay for)? A month, a year? Let me know.The usual staff had that place running like a machine. Because of the current crews' bungling, it cost me a lot of money and completely altered my family's plans. They could have at least notified me that the car was not available. I will never do business with Avis again. NOTE: it was only because I called customer service that I got a refund. If not they were just going to keep my money for a car I didn't ask for and/or get.Joke. Do better!

The best Avis location in the Antelope Valley!!! They actually take time to properly clean their vehicles and have great customer service. Wish I could say the same for the location on 10th street.

Booking for business travel I have never gotten a less-than-decent experience or car. The cars you get are somewhat random, but always great and an absolute pleasure to drive. The staff is helpful, friendly, and, a pleasure to work with.

I used to like this location, because they were fast and I had never had any issues until today. Spoke with a rep on the phone (I know which one but leave that out of the comments), I called to ask a question about my contract. She put me on hold to "look into my contract". After several minutes passed where she did not check in to the call to give me a status update, I hung up and called back. I guess she was annoyed that I had done so because she immediately started cutting me off. Then I attempted to get the answer about the question I'd asked on the previous call. Well she started to ask questions and tell me what she thinks is the answer. I explained that what she saying doesn't make sense but could she send me the contract so I can read it. She then tels me she doesn't have the contract. I said then how are you using the contract to answer my questions? After going back and forth, she hung up on me. Needless to say...Avis will no longer be my preferred company. I will use my points until they run out...but that will be it for me; breaking ties.

Cheaper than the competitors yes, cheap rentals yes that they do offer, however that cheap rental comes at the cost of the customer service. I rented from enterprise for 10months and came to Avis when enterprise had a safety recall on there vehicle and didn’t have another comparable in size. I had zero issues with enterprise they went above and beyond to assist me however it was expensive, Quite expensive but now I understand why and I will over look the cost next rental. Avis on the other hand charged my credit card twice which was a problem having 9/k taken from my account instead of $4500 and having to wait for the refund after countless hours and phone calls to there customer service center and visits to the store. And over all the issues were handled without customer service and respect. Plus the Saturday hours posted are 8am - 2pm I was there at the door 1:15 and they were inside still with the doors locked closed for the day. Only issue I have with this is I work Monday-Friday 4am-8pm so this was yet again another issue. With that said if you have thick skin and some extra time to fix issues when they arise then yes rent here for the price because you can’t beat it, but if you want quick hassle free experience then I wouldn’t recommend Avis Lancaster auto mall location.

They treat me like a close friend and always helpful with tips for discounts on rentals plus the cars are the cleanest they can be. I'll go out of my way to rent from them.
