About Mono Basin Scenic Area Visitor Center
The Mono Basin Scenic Area Visitor Center is an excellent place in a beautiful setting. It is a great and informative visitor center with a museum, interpretive signage, and exhibits about the lake and tufas. It features a great viewing area and very beautiful lookout to Mono Lake from the back observation deck. There are clean bathrooms, a nice gift shop, and a good size parking lot. Helpful and friendly USFS staff offer knowledge, permits for hiking trails, and assistance to campers. Visitors can enjoy a short film, hiking trails, and suggested donations. It is a must-see stop with very beautiful views.

Definitely should stop here for the short trails down to the lake, the theater, the nature exhibits and chat with the rangers if you plan to hike nearby. A bird event was happening so lots of photographers around with their bazooka 500mm lens.

Nice visitor center. Has lots of information and great views of Mono Lake.

Good views outside of the visitor center. Very helpful staff giving us suggestions to see a place we didn't plan initially.
