About Van Damme State Park
Van Damme State Park is a beautiful campground located just five minutes from downtown Mendocino. Visitors appreciate the clean bathrooms and showers, with some noting they are among the cleanest they've seen. The park offers great hiking trails right behind the campground and easy beach access across Highway 1. It is a perfect spot for exploring tide pools, although the swimming beach may not be the best in the area. While the campground is well-loved, access involves navigating a temporary bridge and a winding road. Some guests have encountered roaming bears at night, adding to the adventure. Overall, the park provides a serene natural setting, making it a favorite destination for many.

Clean bathroom and showers. Very close to the water. Only 5 minuites from downtown Mendocino. I will be going back sometime.

This is a great campground. I have been there several times over the years and always look forward to opportunities to go back.

6 mile loop in redwoods, ferns, creek, shade. Moderate to easy. Jump or climb over one stream.
