Stopped in after 4 days in the backcountry looking for a shower. This hostel and gear shop offers $10 showers (towels and soap included). The folks here are friendly, showers are hot and clean. There's also a hiker box in the store.

We stayed in a dormitory room. It was very clean. They send key code via text. Room had microwave ovens, mini fridge. Room is bit small though. But it was very comfortable for just a night stay.Rooms: Clean room

No frills, you get what is advertisedConveniently near the highway. Room has fridge and microwave.Only downside is the rooster crowing in the morning which isn't there fault at all.

Great room, helpful staff, and easy remote checkin. 4 stars because our room was next to the road, it was SO noisy. If you’re a light sleeper, a loud truck driving may wake you up in the middle of the night.

No issues with the hotel. The staff is very nice and it was a good place to stay for our trip to Mt. Whitney. Quiet enough to outside noise, and it was clean. The AC unit in our room was loud and made inconsistent whirring noises and the TV wasn’t plugged into anything. So far from luxurious but that’s not really why you’re staying in Lone Pine anyways.Nearby activities: Great spot to post up in hiking in Alabama Hills or Mt. Whitney.Walkability: Located in the center of Lone Pine, you can easily stay parked at the hotel and stroll anywhere you’d like to go.

Clean dorm room, friendly staff at check-in. It felt pretty safe to leave some of my stuff unattended while climbing Whitney.

Get one of the private rooms on the back of the building as they are much quieter than the bunk room. The queen room was spacious enough that I was able to get cleaned up and have a great night's rest after climbing Whitney. Checkin/checkout was easy as they sent me a room code via text, so even though I was late coming off the trail I had easy access directly to the room without having to get a key.

As with others in the 1 star I booked a room and then had to cancel because of road work that made it difficult to impossible to get the hostel. The Caltrans twitter said not to count on the road being accessible so I cancelled my reservation to drive a different route. I did not get a refund. However, my main issue is the woman kept insisting I couldn't get a refund because I booked through booking.com which I did not. I booked through the hostel website. My confirmation email and cancellation email came from reservationcounter.com which is the system you use if you book directly through the hostel. She showed me the screen shot showing booking.com and I showed her my email that was clearly not from booking.com. Then she just did not respond and kept my $190. Also it was a Saturday night on spring break and the Dow had been full for three weeks prior so I am pretty sure they kept my money and then charged someone else for the same room...I cancelled over 24 hours before check in and they had plenty of time to receive the notice. The Dow Villa is directly next store, is comparable in price and is far more accommodating to last minute changes to traveling which happen to everyone. I have been staying at the Dow for over 15 years for work and personal travel and never had anything but good experiences including with last minute changes. They were full so I thought I would try next store but that was a huge mistake.

Great budget option for hostels if you are traveling to Mt Whitney, day hike, you can meet many hikers on JMT trail, pacific crest trail or visiting Death Valley.Speaking of the rooms itself the hostel are okay, the bunk beds make noise when someone above shifts, this can be annoying and disturbing at times. The shower doesn’t have any hooks to hang clothes/ towels. The rooms are pretty clean.

The rooms are reasonable but stay away from the rooms on the side of the highway. Ask for a room in the back as it's much quieter since you are away from the traffic. I stayed for two nights the first night was next to the road and I could not sleep because of all the trucks but the staff was nice enough to move me the second night to the back where it was quite peaceful. But for the helpful staff I would have given them a much lower rating

If I stayed again, I definitely wouldn’t recommend the bunk room. Only had to stay here for one night last August, thank goodness. It’s your basic motel room with 3 noisy, creaky bunks crammed in to it. On arrival another guest was already there but had turned it in to her own personal apartment for her extended stay (1 week +). There was no common area and only one chair which she occupied the entire time while sitting directly in front of the air conditioner and complaining that it was cold. Not the hostels fault, but there should be some kind of limit to how long you occupy a bunk room when there’s someone who won’t let other guests turn the air conditioning below 75. As someone else previously mentioned, the light switch to the toilet/shower area is on the outside of the room so every time someone goes in at night the room gets flooded with light. Also, not sure how late they allow check-ins but another guest practically kicked in the door between 9:30-9:45pm and THREW her bag and climbing equipment on the floor, proceeded to turn the lights on, take a full shower and make noise until 10:30pm. Then every time someone moved their toe on a top bunk the thing would creak to kingdom come. The savings of the bunk room are SO not worth it. After traveling for nearly 24 hours straight, all we wanted was a good nights rest. Unfortunately that just wasn’t possible.

Front desk staff are not very helpful and nice. They were not even capable of recommending places to eat. I also had something taken from my room, I left a message, sent an email and still have not heard back from them. They are many other places to stay in the town at a reasonable price.
