Love this neighborhood spot for household products. Bring your own container and refill. Such a great concept and glad to have them in the community! The essential oils are also a great price.

If you're looking for sustainable and eco-friendly items for your kitchen and home, then BYO Long Beach is the place to go. It stocks all the popular sustainable 'swaps' that you need to get started on your sustainable lifestyle journey. With a mix of locally harvested products as well as imported sustainable goods, BYO Long Beach has something for everyone. The store offers a wide range of sustainable sponges, paper towel replacements and lots of other kitchen and home items. Only giving a 4/5 instead of a 5 because I wish they had more food! That'd make me come here a lot more often, but I do really enjoy everything they already have.Pro Tip: if you're a local and you walk here, you get a walking local discount!

Recently been getting really heavily into living a plastic free lifestyle as many house hold products and self care products contain PFA which are considered forever chemicals that don't go away and disrupt your endocrine system and are carcinogens (cause cancer) . Our world is filled with them there's almost no escaping it ! Even if the product you buy is PFA free or fragrance free they're usually in a plastic bottle :( ! Anyways I'm super into NO fragrance in my body wash, hair , & household products ! This is the place to be if you have already containers you can use to refill it'll be so much cheaper . Love their laundry powder/salts so far has been the best alternative to fragrance free washing & it really works ! Love their non scented body wash/lotions . I splurge a bit and let myself have a bit of a mix with my lotions and put some orange blossom lotion into my lotion & their leave-in conditioner is lightly scented as well . I also got some jojoba & almond oil for both skin & hair ! So far been loving this . I find it cost efficient & love getting out the house to refill ! Please consider going plastic and fragrance free for your health. Cancer & other diseases have only appeared when we started massively using plastics , before they used to only use glass!

pros: this store is fantastic. it's really just so fun to bring all my little jars and fill them up, checking out all the new items and such. the staff has been immensely helpful the couple of times i've visited. the shop is also very light and inviting, while managing to pack a ton of items into limited space.cons: there are no ingredients lists on display, and sometimes the bottles are missing labels altogether. i imagine the ingredients list live somewhere, but i would feel like a nuisance asking the employee for every single item.not a fan of a couple products so far. nothing egregious but probably won't return for those products again.unfortunately, this is not too accessible for those on limited budgets. it's more of a novelty for me than a regular practice. sans packaging, i would have thought this would be more affordable. some products are, but many just don't make sense to buy here. i know there are factors at play that influence pricing, but it's a shame that eco-friendly solutions like this so often leave out folks of limited means.

As someone with eczema and migraines, I’ve struggled with household products all my life because of strong chemicals and over powering fragrances. All products here are simplified to the minimal ingredients. It’s reassuring I can actually understand what’s on the labels without googling what XYZ chemical is.It’s also so straight forward to buy by weight! You can get as much or as little as you want. There are lots of different options as well. Don’t like bar soap? There’s liquid. Don’t like liquid laundry detergent, there’s powder, etc. it’s also so easy to reuse containers you already have. Keep that empty pickle jar or shampoo bottle and bring it in!When you buy from a small business it may be a little more expensive but you’re helping your local economy. Big corporations only care about profit margins no matter the cost to the earth & the health of the creatures on it. Give your business to your neighbors who are dedicated to your health and community.Thank you for all your efforts.

The shop is pretty small but it gives a mom-and-pop feel. There's a good selection of zero-waste self-care items and loose teas, for the amount of space. Bring your own containers, or you can buy some pretty ones there, or maybe use a couple donated ones. I bought Lavender scented lotion and a wooden hairbrush and I'm content with both. Also, the staff is very helpful in explaining the how to weigh your containers before and after.

Eliminating all SUP in my home is a goal I hope to accomplish soon. Although, I am disappointed that these products are so expensive. At these prices, lower/middle class families cannot afford to do so. There should be some non organic products that ALL families can afford. $11 for 16oz of hand soap and $20-$32 for a bottle of 32oz shampoo simply is not sustainable in my household. Expanding your line of products with some affordable options that aren't organic and/or vegan, will allow for more people to eliminate more plastics in their households and, ultimately the landfills. Isn't this the end goal?

Have been to this location a few times and it's always easy to find what I need. I appreciate the options that their various locations have and loved the protocols they were doing during the height of COVID to keep everyone safe. Everyone has always been helpful when I've been, and just yesterday when I stopped by it was the same. It's not easy sometimes to budget and coordinating refilling but I love that we have some options here in Long Beach.
