I am 75 years old, and went into the Ling Beach DMV office to ask about renewing my drivers license. I told them that woman up front that I don’t have a computer, and asked what forms of ID I would need in addition to my passport to get a real ID. She told me to look online. I again told her that I didn’t have a computer, and asked if she had something written that I could see. She handed me a paper, and then asked me if I had my paperwork with me, and I said that since I hadn’t known what to bring, I didn’t. I asked her what I needed to do next, and she said to fill out an application. I asked her to give me one, and she said to do it online. I again told her that I don’t have a computer. She then said that I would also need an appointment. I asked if she could make one for me, and she said that I had to do it online. I once again said that I don’t have a computer. She turned her back on me, so I left. I wish that I could leave a minus rating since this didn’t even rate one star. I tried to call the office to complain to the manager, and only get the state system’s number. When be I finally got Miles, the virtual assistant, when bc I said that I wanted to file a complaint, he went on and on about commercial licensing. This is why some people would like to see privatization of some government functions!
Fortunately, I was able to go to another office.

Absolute worst dmv experience. First off, the parking lot is so small. It took 20 minutes just to find a parking spot. I went to take my behind the wheel test and had to wait in the line for almost 2 hours starting 10:30 on a Tuesday. The people working there are so inefficient and don’t care about our time. The restrooms were also out of order, so I couldn’t use the restroom there.

I have come to this DMV many times and never ever had an issue with any of the employees here. Except for this last time I was here this one lady Named Joanna was very rood and with a terrible attitude. She was not treating people with courtesy and dignity. Her tone of voice was not kind at all! And I did confronted her because we had an issue with our Documents needed for the process. And oh my gosh her attitude was the worst! They totally forget that they work for us! And they have a job because of us! People like her should be exposed and their Superior shall called their attention. To anyone who works in this type of job where you work with customers you need to leave you're personal problems in your house and outside you're work area. And give the best of you, it actually looks like their frustrated and unhappy. Give the customers a smile and treat them like you like to be treated!
All I'm asking is that they treat us with courtesy, respect and dignity.

It's not very useful, if you want to go there, do your CDL exams, class A written. Because they feel like it and they're racist, they don't give it to you on paper so you can do it.

1. As an international student, I made my appointment to take the Driver's License written exam. After waiting for a while, it was my turn, and the woman tells me I can't take the exam, because they have to send my documents to Sacramento to review them, and that will take 4 to 6 weeks. The website didn't say anything about that, but it's OK, I get it. 10 weeks later, I haven't been able to take the exam.
2. I registered a used car I bought (which I can't drive yet due to not having taken the written exam). Everything went fine at the moment, and the very kind man told me they would mail my title. 9 weeks later, I haven't received my title.
Today I called them again. Obviously, there was a "more than 2 hours waiting time". I waited a couple times in the past, and they never picked up my call, even though both times they said the waiting time was around 1 hour and 30 minutes and both time I waited in line for more than 3 hours. This time I preferred to be called back. They called me back 4 hours later. "Press 1 when 'name' is ready to pick up the call". I pressed 1, nothing happened. The message repeated. I pressed 1 again. Nothing happened.
The DMV is absolutely incompetent.

It was very easy for me to pay because there were almost no people. I also used the ATM and it was even better. There was parking available and I was in and out very quickly.

My appointment was at 12pm for 3 real ID's of my kids. They made a mistake by adding the wrong picture on the wrong name. 4 hrs later, here we are, still getting told give us 5-10 minutes.

I was there 8:00 am in the morning on 6/18/2024 standing in the long line of people outside of DMV. Finally the security guy let me inside of the building where I had to stay in the line more while a DMV employee helping other customers from other line for appointments and disable people only. My line was not getting shorter at all. The other employee came to look what she was doing and came outside to announce that DMV is not renewing DL and car registration there since June 6, 2024. I came and standing in the line for 1hr 30 min for nothing to get copy of my car registration. What a waist of my time.

Worst parking lot for a DMV. Very small. Drove in circles for 1/2 hour until I was lucky to get a parking spot.

I really wondered with all the technology and the budget. . all the government department have .. they still have lack of professionalism to fill their existing wich helping the people and to make thier life easier.. that office have bad attitude employees and the system to got service or appointment backwards.. they will tell you to come early 7.00 am. then you wait in line to take appointment slip so you can come in time after they start the service you wait in line to get in with another slip and number..then inside the office you wait until your number called so you can see the representative who will help you.. but if you have more than one issue like driver license and car registration.. they will tell you you have to tell the representative by the door about the anther issue you have .. why we go in circle !!
when you try to renew your DL. using the kiosk ! it will take many trying to go through!!! because there are too many questions you have to answer.. and if the machine asks you to go back bottom .. go look to get through.. weird system
Government agencies should find a better way and make it easier for people.. social handicap!!
