This is a fantastic, fun, easy boat tour along the canal. You float by incredibly expensive and beautiful homes. We did this as part of a conference excursion. Staff arranged for us to have wonderful snacks on the boat and lunch when we returned to shore. It was awesome! Duffy boat staff is really great, fun and knowledgeable! Highly recommend.

I don't usually leave reviews, but my experience with the owner Leah has unfortunately been very disappointing and unprofessional.I booked a boat on a Friday in late July to take my elderly parents visiting from out of town on a ride around the canals in Long Beach. Unfortunately the next morning my mother was ill, and we had to cancel. I called the number listed on the web site, and a very nice young woman answered the phone and told me that we should cancel, and as long as someone booked the time slot, we would receive a full refund. She also reassured me that since it was summer, there was a good chance of that slot being booked. Cool, I said, we'll cancel and hope for the best. someone re-booked the time slot within a few hours. I waited 2-3 days to see if the refund would post, which it didn't. I then called and spoke with Leah (who i learned from reading previous reviews is the owner of this establishment), who said to email her all of the details of the booking and she would get back to me.Initially i had a pretty normal interaction with Leah. She responded to my email and said she would let me know about the refund "by the end of the day." Well, that came and went with no response. Many back and forth emails later, I finally get on the phone with Leah who supposedly processed the refund (and informed me many times this isn't their policy - which I fully accept, but also this is my first time booking a Duffy boat and i took what your employee said to be true regarding the cancellation and refund process), said it will post by the end of the day. This happened on August 14th.It is now September, and I have yet to see a refund posted to my account. I have spoken to Leah on the phone and emailed her as recently as this past week, and despite telling me she will get back to me or let me know about the refund, I have yet to have my money returned to my account. Now, she is not even responding to my emails or phone message. After finding out that Leah is the owner of Anchors Away from reading previous reviews, I am even more frustrated, because I cannot imagine why/how the owner of a business would A. Not know how to process a refund, B. Continue to dodge emails and calls from a customer ( and yes I am still a customer because we have not completed our business transaction yet) and C. would display such unprofessional handling of this issue.I have since filed a dispute with my credit card and am still waiting for my refund. Definitely would not recommend dealing with Leah or booking with this business (especially after learning from reviews that there is another business that rents Duffy boats).

First let me say in times where customer service is almost obsolete, Anchors Away is a breath of fresh air! I had accidentally double booked. When I called l, Leah took care of it right away! Making sure I got my confirmation email. When I called her the day before my reservation, because my crew was concerned about Hurricane/Tropical Storm Hilary, she assured me all would be fine. My reservation was for my 60th birthday (8/19). When we arrived everyone, and I mean everyone was friendly and helpful. From check in to getting our selves as well as our gear on board. Wish I could give more stars!!!! Thank you all for helping us make great memories! Continued blessings to you all!

Reservation made in advance. We requested another boat when the first one we were assigned didn't have a back seat. Employees were friendly. Boat was clean. We had no issues. Will go back again.

What a gem! Taken many duffy boats before but first time using Anchors Away - such a difference! Boat was in like new condition, super comfy, and the area you leave from has cute tables and areas to hang in before or after you enjoy a day on the water. Great staff, good price, lovely find!

Staff were also super helpful and friendly.Cruising around Belmont Shores and Naples Island is just such a pleasure and really recommend this as one of the best ways to enjoy Long Beach. Thanks so much!

I have used Anchors Away before and gave been happy. However, I rented a boat for 2 hours today and had requested a pink boat. These are new to their fleet. I was told once there that they are another $150. I asked since they weren't busy at all (and we seemed like the only customers for the hour) if we could have one of the several pink boats without the fee. I said that since I am a breast cancer survivor that I would have promoted it big/time! The guy there said his manager would not allow it...which I believed.Anywhoo...not smart business...i would have understood (kind of..still don't think it's worth $150) if they were busy and booked!Also..as a heads-up...they have a port-a-potty and no true bathroom...you have to go next door to Ralph's if you want a real bathroom.

My girlfriends and I had a great time. The staff is super friendly and the boat was easy to navigate for my group of tipsy and urban birthday party guests. Would do it again. Missed a star because the office was a bit hard to find and the boat goes super slow. Still with it because we were there to socialize.

Beware! They have a reservation only business model (no onsite employees) and they operate at a snails pace!I showed up with my family to rent a duffy boat and, after spending 10 minutes to find the place, that's tucked behind the Nordstrom rack, I walked into an empty lobby with no workers. I called the number on the website/signage but no one answered. It's just a recording with options that all asked me to leave a voice-mail. I decided to leave a message under the section... "Are you stuck on the water?" ...and thank God we weren't actually stuck, because it took them 45 minutes to call me back. Luckily, in the meantime, I called another duffy rental company, 9 min away in Huntington Beach. They picked up right away and took care of me. I was on a boat halfway down Huntington Harbor by the time they called me back. They should change their name from Anchors Away to Employees Away!

From the very beginning to the very end this experience was just very subpar any other Duffy boat rental I've ever experienced. Came in last Saturday for a birthday celebration. We arrive promptly for our reservation at 4 pm, we get situated in our boat, and are given instructions before being let go. Well, the boat just wasn't working. We went about 5-10 feet off the dock but were merely floating without any power. So it took anywhere from 15-20 minutes until we were back on the dock, with the help of a crew member, and were put into another boat (this one seemed nicer with a seating outside of the canopy). I tried to let it go since they said they'd still honor our 2-hour boat ride. We're finally in a working boat, right? Not necessarily. When I tell you that we BARELY had any power to just keep moving forward - I'm not exaggerating. My husband was driving and legitimately said he felt unsafe on the waters. There was no power AT ALL to move out the way of paddle boarders, other Duffy boats, or bigger boats in the marina. He basically spent his time having to reverse the boat in order to maneuver it properly from hitting anyone else. You could not properly steer a boat at this speed. You didn't have full-control of it at this speed. We felt like sitting ducks the entire time just praying other boats would go around us in time. Other Duffy boats were cruising by 2-3 times as fast as us (and yes I even saw a boat from Anchors Away waving goodbye to us as they drove past us). I was SO DISAPPOINTED. When the staffers asked how our ride was, We simply replied with "Very slow" and they explained there's a speed limit that no one else follows (we're aware). I understand there is a speed limit, the other Duffy boats in the area also program their boats to go the speed limit (I've booked with many others in the area), but I mean, this was just ridiculous. We barely circled the boat once in the marina for the 1.5 hours we did. And no, we decided not to use our fully paid 2 hours because by the time the sun was setting and getting dark, we just didn't feel safe being out in the water in the dark without being able to maneuver our boat if needed. Might I add: We wouldn't have been out in the dark if our appointment had started on time.RESTROOMS - had no toilet paper and were dirty when I went inside them post-boat ride. They're basically porta-potties. Overall - this place looks aesthetically pleasing (the entrance and waiting ares are what the 1-star is for), but other than that: man, it was a total bust. I'd highly recommend the many other Duffy boat rentals in Long Beach (I've used others such as LBR), but not this one.

Thank you for an awesome experience. Entering the area to the check in for boats was beautiful. The boats were clean and the staff were great. Customer service is a 5 star! I will be back again for another birthday. It was definitely something to do in Long Beach as a resident and as a tourist.

December 2022 by Samantha P.
Update to my review dated December 27,2022. Nigel, the owner, contacted me today and told me the report from the accident was filed and the rescue team who responded to the incident made a determination that the accident was my fault. Nigel also expressed frustration about my initial review of calling them greedy. Nigel stated I would be responsible for any damages caused to the other person's boat because of the outcome of this report. So I went directly to Station 21 at the Marina and again, those lifeguards/firefighters are incredibly helpful and kind. The lifeguard/firefighter who took my report the night of the incident was on duty and i inquired about Nigel claiming the report was submitted and it was determined I was at fault. Turns out the reports hasn't even been submitted yet by the rescue team and Nigel didn't have a copy of any report and all his accusations were sadly not true, which is very concerning. It's sad to me that I was being lied to in order to be scared into paying more money then what they already charged me for. Nigel also accused me of refusing to pay for damages to his boat. Which again, is not true. We simply asked for a quote for him to have a small spot of the boat recoated/painted( I don't know the right term for it) before just paying him $800. The problem I noted in my first review is that he still charged my card without my authorization and no where in the rental agreement does it say they can do that. They used my saved CC info to charge it. And no where in the rental agreement states a specific amount for re-coating a spot either. If you choose to rent from here, please take it from my own personal experience and read the rental agreement carefully. They have a lot of legal language they can use to hold you responsible for the boat even being stolen and "upon demand" they can charge you whatever they want for damages with no quote or estimates.
