El Dorado Nature Center offers wooded loop trails around lakes, including a two-mile, one-mile, and a paved quarter-mile accessible trail. The paths are soft underfoot, well-marked, well-maintained, and shaded, with little bridges and plenty of benches. Visitors can see turtles basking on logs, along with lizards, squirrels, dragonflies, and bass. It feels like a retreat from the city, perfect for a slow walk, a gentle workout, or a kid-friendly outing. The nature center provides great information about the area's history and native animals, with helpful staff and volunteers, and some souvenirs for purchase. There is a parking fee, which varies, and grounds are well-kept. It can get very packed, so going early is recommended for a more relaxing experience. Be advised there are no trash cans inside the restrooms.
