Bank waste customer's time with bad information regarding wire transfer. Their fees has doubled in just a few years. They pay much less on their CDs than competitors, and proudly reason that because they are conservative as if that correlates at all.

The 3.3 overall Yelp review is correct,. I hold an account at F&M, going on 15 years! They do some things very right, others very bad. The "bad" part of it is their poor customer support and how righteous they are when its their mistake. So....consider this...if you have heard their marketing ploys about how strong they are in California, etc, etc, then do engage with them to get the wonderful exprience they tout, and hope you're never on the receiving end of their human mistakes!. Banking as we know is very competitive. It's more than the "$ amount" of their products. It's about the delivery. Recently, they made an egregious mistake that in 60 years of banking, experience hasn't happened to me: they posted my deposit to the wrong account. Worse, the computer didn't disvover it; I did,30 days later when I received my statement. Further, I spent roughly 2-3 hours on the phone with various associates, getting them to understand, let alone correct their mistake. They wanted me to bring in my receipt (thankfully I had it!) to show them! Most business is very slow to understand that your time for their mistakes isn't free. I spoke with one of the top executives at F&M, Phil Bond, explaining that their mistake and the time it costs me wasn't acceptable. Oh, he looked into it very quickly and declined to compensate me for the inconvenience. Still, he appreciates my business! I appreciate F&M too!. That's why I'll maintain a low balance on my account so I can get compensated "righteously" for my time and business elsewhere!.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BANK! We have been residents of Long Beach for 24 years. I have been on my mother's checking account at F&M for 24 years. Our first business account was at F&M. So when my terminally ill husband and I needed to open a personal account, we decided to go with F&M. What a mistake! While the first bank rep was quite nice, she didn't fully listen and attempted to set up the checking account as an individual account that was my husband only. I have my husband's power of attorney because of his illness and he is unable to be understood when speaking, but cognitively he is fine. After a week (was told 2-3 days) I went in to sign only to review and see it was set up as an individual account, not joint, and despite me being 57 and my husband nearly 59, a senior account (55 and over) was not offered. I of course said it was supposed to be a joint account, and then asked why a senior wasn't offered, to which she answered you don't look that old (never checked the ids she had copies of). But, they couldn't change to a joint account (for two married people that were on a business acct together previously) without presenting before the board again, which she said would be a day or two at the most. After 2 days I got a call from a banker indicating that I had made the change to a joint account (set him straight that is was what I asked for) and then after a few other comments indicated that they may need 2 doctor's letters (this was new news, we had one from UCLA that they had on file that they had not requested, I offered). So, I acted preemptively and got a second doctor's letter which I submitted. Finally after a total of 15 days since I walked into the bank for an appointment to open a joint checking account (mind you I asked what all I needed when I called to make the appointment and was told "no problem" to set up an account this way), I received a call that the board has decided not to accept my power of attorney (set up by our attorney and notarized) and denied setting up our checking account. I jumped through every hoop they presented, actually providing extra documentation before they'd ask for it. I cannot state strong enough that I DO NOT RECOMMEND F&M Bank! If I could have written this review and offered a negative amount of stars, I'd have done so.

I was surprised at F&M's 3.5 star Yelp rating. I read some of the one-star reviews. Many seemed petty, others unfair.F&M is a Long Beach institution. Over the decades, my family has relied on F&M for loans, commercial banking services, safe deposit boxes and personal checking account services. When I needed a substantial six-figure emergency loan in a hurry, I turned to F&M and they came through. I still maintain my account with F&M although I now live in Houston, because I still have connections bringing me to California.F&M is conservative and perhaps a bit staid, but it is also the soundest bank I can name. I'm only sorry they don't do the silver bar clean and j*** at their annual employee parties any more.

Racially profiled me asking inappropriate and unnecessary questions about the funds in my account. Closed my account after only having it open for barely two weeks. Never allowed me to even set the tone for my own account to access my money! I do not appreciate how this bank handled me. Do not bank with them if you are a person of color. You might be out under interrogation for wanting to pull $2000 from your account. LMFAO what a joke. I hope this banks fails miserably. Wells Fargo would NEVER. I make over $5000 a month. Never had an issue with immediately pulling my money out after I make a deposit! Farmers & Merchants is RACIST. I have other family members who went through the exact same thing. If my name was Sarah Adams no one would've questions me at all! Not even so much as looked my way. Seeing that I possess a AFRICAN name of substance I'm automatically "questionable". You guys can kindly kiss my pretty round peach. You literally traumatized me with dealing with banks! Which is completely unfair to me. You failed miserably in helping your own community. Y'all stay blessed beloveds

Horrible bank. Old school and slow. Doesn’t work on numerous online services. Doesn’t post direct deposits in a timely consistent manner. Fraud department constantly locks my account. Would never recommend. Thanks for the reply f&m. I don’t need assistance, though. Over numerous calls over 4 years these issues haven’t been resolved. This is just how your company operates.

Highly recommend this bank! They have shown my family so much respect and kindness. Everyone makes you feel like family. Amazing services and opportunities. Did you know they even have a trust department!? For people trying to figure out who to make executor of their will, I highly recommend looking into their services. Extremely professional and caring. An extremely fair way to settle your estate. Best bank in California. Account holder for over 35 years.

If you haven't dealt with Farmer's and Merchant Bank give it a try. I have dealt with two of the other major stock traded banks and there is no comparison to Farmer's and Merchant where you are treated as "family" and not just an account. The technical support is a pleasure if you need help with a Quicken product. Absolutely, the BEST!!! Steve Z

I have been banking at this location location for over 14 years I got a check late in the evening and I put it in the ATM it's 1:00 p.m. now the next day I needed to take out some money for rent talk to the manager Mr. Contreras Who was the total ahole I've been banking here for a long time never had a problem with a bad check this was a lawyer's check for a lawsuit so so it was obviously good. Even when I told him I had to pay rent and if I don't pay it's gonna be late and I'm gonna have to pay the late charge didn't give a crap at all is this a kind of community oriented place you wanna go to I think not. I wish I would have got the teller's name she was very nice. And totally understood what kind of an ahole he was. You know there's karma man and it's gonna come around for you someday. I live downtown so I stick with the bank because the bank itself is not bad bad I've had no problems with any other manager if I had any problems and they took care of it but this one didn't give a crap.

This bank is so friendly and there is never a line when you go in. During the pandemic, when two of my banks that I have been with over 20 years would not help with getting PPP help, Farmers was more than willing to help. I am now transferring my personal accounts to them as well.

Just got of the phone with one of their reps, she was acting like I was bothering her for calling in about my accounts. Once we were done with the conversation she said can I help you with something else I said no, have a good day. She just hung the phone up. WOW!!!

Just became a client of F&M Bank, Fullerton. So excited to know they are unashamed to share their Christian heritage/standards. All the staff seemed warm and friendly and very professional.
