I just got fired from here the other day due to me requesting 5 days off of work to take care of my mother and her 2 year old toddler because she's having abdominal surgery. I'm 17, and my mom is having surgery out of the county, so of course i would have to go with my mother. the owner had asked me if i could stay with relatives after i profusely explained to him that my mom has having surgery, and needs help and needs to be taken care of, along with her 2year old son. In the interview, I told the owner that my mom would be having surgery, and that I would be needing those days off. he said we would talk about it, but i didn't think it would lead to me getting fired. I just want to make you all aware that if you come in the store to shop at 6:55 (when the store closes at 7) that the employees might not be getting payed, as we don't receive payment after 7, and before 10. The owner told me that I was using this job as a "Social Club" because I would conduct small talk with my coworkers. We weren't allowed to talk when there were customers in the store. My coworkers would tell me how the owners wife would verbally abuse them by calling them stupid, and she would get when they weren't able to understand her over her thick accent. I know that most people want to support business that treat their employees with respect and care, so if your one of those people, then don't shop here!

It is best to just find a black-owned beauty supply store. There was a non Black lady there that was watching me like a hawk. It made me very uncomfortable. I will not be shopping here again and I would suggest that no one else should either considering their selection is nothing special anyways.

They had good stuff, great prices BUT GOTDMN the lady had a horrible attitude. Just awful. That's enough for me to spend elsewhere.

Would not recommend rude customer service . I haven't had a loyalty card in years but they said I still have to pay .50'cent for a new one . Why would I need to pay for a new one if they expire after a certain time..

I bought some cuticle remover today for 5.99$ and it worked great. It's called Cuticle... Away and it seems to get the gross stuff off the sides of your nails that we carry around from the street. I had a lot of yellow stuff on the sides and top of my toenails. It leaves a really nice, clean, appearance afterwards so this is why I recommend it. That and asking the health dept. to take better care of our streets that the chemicals that are around us which contaminate our bodies daily. Yes, everyone, so I'm talking about you and me.

Always go their best for black, brown or yellow skin. Hard to find products that r for hair or skin for us White Girls. I still buy there but I stay away from shampoos n conditioners for the hair. Or any product like makeup for the skin. They still have Cocobutter which is a great skin product for any shade of skin. They also have other products good for all.

It saddens me to walk into a store knowingly able to buy anything you desire. And yet being suspected as a thief before you pick uan item. Since my visit to Joy Beauty Supply I have moved completely away from the Long Beach/Lakewood communities. Both areas constantly are plagued with high crime and theft activities. As reported on my Ring security system. This store carries a basic inventory with unimpressed wig selection. My only reason for shopping at Joy Beauty Supply is that I was toldit was an African American business, yet I found out otherwise.I now shop in Torrance and/or Cerittos. They cities have a muchrather acceptable approach to offer an amicable shopping experience to a more diverse clientele.

My new go to beauty supply? We'll see. I'd passed this place up so many times and finally decided to go in. It's on the larger side which I love, have a wide range of products with everything being reasonably priced aside from the natural curly hair products (they tax on those at every beauty supply I've been to.) Sad to see there's no black women working here but the women who were working there were relatively nice. To the business owner: hire some black women (!!) because let's be real, that's who majority of your customers are.
