I came here two weeks ago when my one year old weenie dog got sick. They had to preform emergency surgery to remove an obstruction from his intestines. It was a traumatic situation but the staff was so lovely and they gave my fur baby a second chance. Very grateful!

I cannot say enough good things about this place. Yesterday I took my Fozzie here in a complete panic. My darling 17-month-old goldendoodle had given himself an extreme hotspot, raw skin, lesions, (entire flank) with a cone on. I was feeling like the worst dog parent ever bringing him in. I needed help. I had no idea what to do. Everyone, from the front desk (very kind, attentive, gentleman) to the triage nurse (who also was so kind going over aftercare with me - lovely, straightforward, lady), to the vet was so helpful and kind. Dr. Kawakita spent generous time with me, answered all my questions, gave great care, and made excellent recommendations for what to do next. (turns out fleas have become resistant to the medication he was on, he is very allergic to them, and even though I didn't see any, he has them). Yes, it costs a good deal of money, but that is what emergency care is. They need to have staff on hand to handle any manner of emergencies - that costs. I was extremely thankful to have a place to take my boy and get much-needed help on a Saturday. Every penny was worth it to help my boy. And they were great. I have pet insurance for big problems - I met my deductible for this issue on this visit. It is what it is. And now I know how to move forward. Thank you all.

I liked the first time I came here, but I think it all depends on the time of day and the doc. The first doc was great! But was told this time, she is no longer there. This second time was horrible. I couldn't get through to the front desk while my pet was in the back being "looked over". Which meant sitting by herself in a kennel for over 3 hours with no care. The multiple blood test took hours, and after I was told the doc was ready for me, sat in an exam room, for over an hour, with no doc. And no dog. Would not recommend!

this place SUCKS! i took my cat in because he had a blockage and wouldn't pee and it made him uncomfortable and in pain to the point where he was bleeding, throwing up, wouldn't get up. i took him here and they told me it would be 9 THOUSAND to get this problem treated and when i said i couldn't afford that they said to just put him down. i was not going to do that so i took him to another place & they helped him in one day, no surgery needed, and only $600. don't take your pet here, they'll either upcharge you or tell you it's easier to kill your baby. i wish i could give this place zero stars.

We were told to call ahead to notify them that we were coming. However, we still ended up waiting hours to get our pet seen who was quickly deteriorating even though we were the only people in the waiting room. The vets here may like animals but they LOVE money. Have health insurance or be prepared to take out a second mortgage to pay for their prices. I see prices for the same procedure elsewhere that are 1/3rd the cost of theirs. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to go anywhere else after being poorly recommended this place by another vet. Also, these people like the sound of their own voice more than letting you spend your final moments with your animal in peace. The small window I had with my dog while he was most alert was lost due to the vet incessantly talking and telling me things that didn't matter and could have been explained earlier. How completely unaware can you be? Overall, the staff was awkward to deal with and seemed unconcerned with the well-being of my animal. This place seriously needs new management. I would drive to an out-of-state animal hospital before I ever consider coming back here.

We took one of our cats in at the beginning of October. After hours of waiting, they said that he had issues with his heart and many other health problems; it sounded like he was going to pass if he didn't immediately get help from them specifically. We couldn't afford to pay for more after spending nearly $2k that day alone. They referred us to see a mobile cardiologist, which they then said would be an additional cost of $5000.One of the meds they sent us home with that night made him actively worse. He was lethargic, his second eyelid was visible, and his breathing and heart rate dropped DANGEROUSLY low. After searching online, many other cat owners also said this medicine (called Elura) also made their cats worse and some even lead to them passing. We stopped it immediately and he was better without it.We set up an appointment for his cardio work up at a different pet hospital, not only was it more affordable but the cardiologist said that our cat was HEALTHY, there were no concerning heart problems and no mentions of the health concerns the ER vet had told us about. This second pet hospital showed so much care and love for our son, it was clear they had his best interests in mind.Looking back on the experience, it truly feels like we were emotionally manipulated for a paycheck at this facility. There was no compassion. I hope that no pet owner should have to go through what we did.

This practice is there for you in real time. Everyone is nice and they are willing to give you triage advice over the phone if that could help and save a trip. Emergency work takes time, but your animal gets cared for well by capable people even at 3am... Thanks so much!!!

The Vet called at 2:54pm to check on my cat Alley (left vm) I called back to say thank you @3:33pm and to also request my bill itemized. She said of course and also told me they would be refunding me $237.00. Why was this disclosed in her message I received at 2:54pm? It does not sit well with me. I had called the night prior to taking Alley in and was quoted $178.00 and again $178. 00 was quoted when I arrived the next day. To my surprise that $178.00 is bundled with a charge of 163.50. I was never informed of the "bundle" charge until I received my itemized bill that I had to request. Going back to the refund of $237.00, I figured that would reflect on the bill with a description but it is not. I have emailed my concerns to Long Beach Animal Emergencet vet. No response as of yet. Not even acknowledgement that my email has been received. The doctors were very nice but the young women who pushes and pushes you to agree to treatment you already said no to was unprofessional. I would stay cleat of this place. It is stressful enough dealing with your sick pet. You shouldn't have to be subjected to the sales pressure or extra charges that are not disclosed.

I'm rating my experience on the result of my visit and not the staff. The staff was very welcoming when I came in on 11/11/23 as an emergency since my cat, Lola, was suffering from a nasty nose problem, mouth sores, a high fever, and was limping and unable to walk. The front staff and techs were very sweeet and made sure I was provided comfort as I did not know what to expect. That is what that star is for. The release vet that treated my cat misdiagnosed my cat which then led to my 2 other cats contracting the same sickness Lola has about 3-4 days later. They ran bloodwork, was given antibiotics, and was given anti-inflammatory for stress. Bloodwork given back shows stress/infection. The infection that was undiagnosed was feline calicivirus as told by my primary. After paying $750 for them to misdiagnose my cat I now have to get treatment and pay additional pet visits for my other 2 cats when this could've been prevented if Lola was diagnosed correctly. My cats are now also limping, weak, and with a nasty nose as I try to ease their sickness since I cannot afford to take 2 additional pets for the same symptoms Lola was dealing with. I have called for a resolution on this and I am getting the runaround. I requested to submit a complaint with management so this won't happen to anyone else and their furbabies and I have yet to be contacted or provided a solution. Please go elsewhere as I will not be coming back to this place again.

Took my almost 8 year old dog because she had a lump. When we first took our dog she wasn't walking or anything but she looked ok but once they took her to the back and they brought her to us she looked sad and looked worse than we took her in. Long story short we got a call from the doctor at 11pm that it doesn't look like our dog was going to make it threw the night and that he suggested we go back to the hospital to spend our last moments with her . We had to put her to sleep :( there prices are a little high .

The vets here are absolutely awesome!! They are kind , patient, and knowledgeable. I love how this place is open 24 hours and the location is clean. And that is why I gave 4 stars. And ultimately the treatment pets receives is main focus in emergency situations.HOWEVER , this needs to be said, I feel that the front desk/reception lack bed side manners. They do not show compassion/decorum for people/pets. I’ve been twice by the way. When I came in the first time as soon as I walked in a lady told me immediately “ your dog needs to be leashed.” I have zero issue with that what I do take issue to not a hello, not a how are you. Not even a simple hi or acknowledgment to my pet. It would be nice in an environment where people are working with animals to acknowledge the animal as well in some form or fashion since they are a client. They have feelings and know they are in a stressful place. This shouldn’t be hard for people who genuinely see pets as creatures with feelings. Something as simple once they learn the pets name while getting information and leaning over to say “hi fluffy sorry you’re not feeling well” or something short would go a long way not only for animal but for owner. But if not at the very least not Hearing staff giggling about favorite tv shows ect while I watched a couple crying holding their dog that was also crying 1 foot away from THEM , to me , this was completely unprofessional and imconsiderste . It’s called reading the room. They clearly know their policies and procedures and that’s where they stop. They came across cold and very matter of fact when discussing matters of my pet. Imagine coming in and thinking will my pet make it and your first encounter is with people don’t show much empathy and treat you and pet like a number. On top of overhearing what they think about the movie Coraline. If they did have compassion/ interest in animals I could not tell. A training /education in bedside manner would be useful for them even if they are not the vet they still represent them.

These people saved my baby. My puppy's name is Bunny and what seemed like a situation in which I'd never be able to bring her home, these lovely people took such great care of her. She needed some aggressive treatment as she was so tiny and weak, but I was able to bring Bunny home thanks to the lovely staff. Bunny is now a big strong puppy that's thriving and enjoying life.

Unfortunately, visiting an emergency animal hospital means something is wrong with your pet. Twice it’s resulted in making a difficult decision for my fur babies to end their pain. This last time, my new kitten was in distress and the outcome was much better. He’s back home and healthy, happy, and playful. The staff at the LB Animal Emergency Hospital are always compassionate and caring, very open about procedures and prices, and do a wonderful job with the animals they care for. I hope to never have to bring a pet there but know if I do, they will be well taken care of.

One of our small chihuahua mixes was an attacked by a big dog and we rushed her over to this hospital. They did emergency surgery and took care of her. We have no complaints. Good customer service and Vet explained everything. The price was reasonable. Had to use a credit card but was able to pay it off. If I ever need emergency services which i hope never again, I will take my pets here.
