I went yesterday to get some bread and decided to pick up stuff for ceviche. Staff was friendly but I cannot explain how grossed out I am. I got 4lbs of fish and I found a hair in it. I had to throw everything out. If I found hair in this I can't imagine what else was in it. And before anyone says it's my hair, it's not. My hair is long and dark. I found this toward the bottom of the bag.

Yesenia was very helpful checking me out at the register, making it a speedy process and was very kind during my transaction. The food here is always very underrated and I always find so many good deals here! Appreciate you NGM.

My mom came back from the store and SPENT $30 ON SOME VERY DRY WINGS. These wings look like they have been there alll day long and when we all bit in to the wing it was so dry it was so hard to bite. It is so sad to even say she bought them....$30 waste in the drain

I had the worst service today, as I stood in line mind you there was no other customers, took the lady a minute or 2 to call me over, there was 2 other girls but the one who was supposed to be working was on her phone, she then rudely called me over and did her job upset as if she was being forced to. She hands me the receipt to sign and then snatched it away didn’t even let me finish my signature, and then went on to shove the other receipt though the opening. Never had this happen to me there before but the girls you have hired to work there lately are just plain rude.

I don't know why this has 2.5 stars. I adore Northgate Markets. I've been going to them since I was a kid. The deli is quite literally one of thee best I've been to. Their ceviche, guac, and salsa is unmatched. It's the only market I'll go to to find quality food, made with love. LOVE YOU FOREVER NORTHGATE

This review is based on the service deli/hot foods area only. I purchased a couple pounds of cooked carnitas to go as well as some tamales, beans and rice. The meat was not only overcooked, but it was rancid. I know it wasn't from sitting under the heat lamps, so I'm guessing they cook a lot of their meat that is going bad and sell it in the hot foods area. Definitely inedible and I'm usually down to eat anything. The tamales were pretty hard and dry, but the biggest complaint is the health issue with the meat. They really shoudn't be selling that stuff! On a positive note, the refried beans were great. I still don't think I'll be coming back here for any foods in that area tho.

Really bad customer service. Everybody seen to be in a bad mood. They don't say hi, they talk you in a bad manner. It used to be different when there were different managers and supervisor, but not anymore. I got two decaffeinated coffee container by mistake and went back to exchange one of them for a regular coffee container and the cashier keep telling in a really bad mood that they don't accept return because of the Covid I9 she told me the same thing like 4 times and make me feel embarrassed. I just go there for the convenience since is really close to my house. But I will try to get all my shopping need at a different store so I don't have to go there anymore.

Great variety, the hot food is good and total store has value pricing. However the store is dirty and the bathrooms are disgusting. Not that you go to a grocery store to use the restroom but I can't imagine the employees have to use them. The store needs remodeling as it is GROSS. The store itself though is dirty

This store has great service and food! Not one of the best Northgate Markets, but still always great service. The workers are attentive and helpful. Good deals and food is always fresh.

This is the Long Beach store on Cherry and 10th.I was excited to hear about Northgate since moving to Long Beach as I was in need of a local hispanic grocery store. Before moving to Long Beach, I was a loyal customer of Vallarta for 25 years and had been driving to Downey before finding out about Northgate. I want to support hispanic owned businesses, but I won't be returning. My first visit was on 5/26/20 in the evening (6-7pm-ish). I grabbed about $50 in groceries and headed to the cash register to pay. I went to the first open register and noticed there wasn't an employee present but the line was empty and open and the light was on. I put all of my groceries on the belt and then I noticed a young lady walk over to the register (I can't remember her name...Yessenia N.? Yessica N.? Jessica N.? She didn't greet me. She quickly said, "this is express, you need to go to another line." I didn't realize it, so I quickly counted and I was over by one. I already had everything on the belt and had my wallet out and she refused, "that's too much" and she nodded her head. There was NO ONE behind me in line. She had no other customers. I didn't say anything since our grocery store employees are essential and saving us at this time. I loaded everything back into my cart and went to another lane. As I did this, I noticed the cashier went back to where she had been standing before, at the employee clock where another employee was waiting to clock out and they were socializing. I got into the next line and paid. As I was paying, I noticed there were customers at the express check out waiting and homegirl was still chatting with her friends. Another employee had to call her over.Yesterday (6/30/20) I decided to give Northgate another chance. I am in line to pay and the cashier (Athena S.) doesn't greet me or even look at me. She is looking around and has 0 interest that I am there. She rings me up and gives me the total. I look at her and say, "hello, how are you?" and she seemed annoyed. I pay and she is bagging my groceries and a man walks over and asks if he can cash in his lottery ticket as she is still bagging my groceries. She hands me my receipt, no "thank you", no "have a nice day", no "please come again." She walks away from the register and leaves half of my groceries unbagged and the rest that is bagged on the counter, nothing put into my cart. Just walks away. So I bag the rest of the groceries myself, put them into my cart, and left. I am never returning here. I am trying to support my people and their local businesses and this is how you treat customers. The WORST customer service I have ever experienced at a grocery store. This is embarrassing for hispanic businesses that are working hard to make it and then you have employees that act like this. Not a good look. Management should be ashamed of themselves. I am taking my business back to Vallarta and am willing to drive the distance. You better hope a Vallarta doesn't open in Long Beach.

This is a great local market. The produce is cheap and delicious. The employees are helpful if you can't find something. Highly recommended.

The employees should be trained better there was a lady on the food area and bakery area talking loud without a mask, also some of the people handling food without gloves.

Horrible management. They caught a young girl stealing milk. Milk! and they completely humiliated her in front of a packed store. I understand they're trying to shame her so she doesn't do it again, but that's not what a security guards job is. It was so sad. I'm not going back to a store that treats people like scum. She looked so scared- I wish I could've helped her. Someone stealing milk (and some produce) is obviously in a bad place, and they didn't need to attract the entire stores attention to the situation. Kick her out, call the police if you wish, and leave it at that. Don't humiliate, shame, judge and condemn her in front of a crowd. You're a grocery store employee, not God.
