I was in the position of needing my taxes cleaned up. Onisko & Scholz and staff handled my short notice issues. The staff was fast and friendly, they made short work of my issues and have me back on track! Definitely a great find!

In my opinion this the worst accounting firm possible. Horrible experience. My family retained them to perform the final accounting for our father's estate. A uncomplicated matter of an estate where all assets just needed to be tallied and documented. Do the math and put into a written format to be shared by all involved. There was a possibility that it might need to be viewed in a court setting and that was requested as well. They acknowledged our needs and were paid a deposit. I worked personally with the accountant that was handling our account. Initially it went smoothly. Then communication stopped. After several attempts I was informed that the person had left the firm. NO notice at all and they did not know was assigned the file. After a couple of "guesses" (!) i got hold of the successor. She assured me that the accounting would proceed. I then noticed that accounting that had been done and billed for was being done and billed again. I was told that she could not locate the existing file and just started over!! On my insistence she "found" the file. Then billing did not acknowledge the initial deposit. After this "mess" was finally resolved I tried to reach out with more documents. Now she has left the firm without any notification! I was left communicating with a clerk. He actually was the only long term employee who seemed to care. There was a large file of additional numbers that needed to be computed and added to the final accounting. This person said he could take care of and I dropped it off. After a few weeks of silence I contacted him and was told that it could not be included! Basically told me that he was told not to do any additional work. I called and spoke to Paul Scholz who told me that he could not do any work that was not authorized and pertinent to the estate. EVERY family member who signed the contract with Onisko & Scholz and contributed to the initial deposit authorized the work to be done. When reminded of this Mr. Scholz refused again. I personally hired another firm to finish the accounting. Onisko & Scholz took the deposit and had their invoices paid. Repeated work done by multiple employees that did not stay with the firm. Double billed because of that lack of oversight and refused to finish the job. More details that I care to share here. Unbelievable lack of professionalism. If we hired a hack firm I might be inclined to say "Get what you pay for" We paid their price and got a UNFINISHED hack job anyways. Maybe for a large corporation this is standard procedure. If you have a personal estate I would NEVER recommend Onisko & Scholz!

As CEO of a PR company in Los Angeles, Onisko & Scholz have been a great asset to our team. They save me time and money by giving me reassurance on the company books through quarterly visits/reconciliations, training our CFO and staff accountant on best practice improvements, and are always a phone call away in providing guidance and expertise.
