I just stopped to get oil for my car. Service is okay, store is always neat but not stocked at all times. Prices are okay.

For your safety and sanity, I highly recommend not going to any PepBoys. They advertise being able to visit any PepBoys location, however, when you arrive, they tell you to return to the original service location. We were on our way out of town so that made it very difficult. Complaints: - loud scraping noice coming from front left wheel immediately after picking up my car. Technician said it sounded like metal scraping but said everything is fine and it's due to how freeways are made- additional damage on my car unrelated for the service I came in for (I came in for an oil change and brake pad replace on my BACK tires)-Technician not asking or being straight forward about services rendered (he also rotated my tires without asking beforehand or letting me know when picking it up)-technician admitting he test drove my car and went over 70MPH on residential streets in an attempt to replicate the metal scraping -difficulties seeking service at other PepBoys location (as advertised) -lack of urgency on resolving the issue

I had an appointment this morning for an oil change. I've been doing oil changes with Pep Boys for the last 20 years and most of the staff I've encountered have been fair to middling. But, today when I walked into the LB Pep Boys I was greeted (remember this is 8am in the morning on a Monday) with an enthusiastic 'good morning, how are you?' by my service advisor, Betty. She was helpful and delightful. One of my best experiences at Pep Boys.

My Daughter brought her Mini Cooper in due to the car sputtering/vibrating upon acceleration. I live in Northern California so it's not like her uncle and I could just drive down and check it out. My brother is a mechanic btw, this will be important later. Anyway I tell her to take it to Pep Boys as she's had work done there before and it was late in the evening and first day of class was the following day so not a lot of places open at that time. Pep boys takes it runs a diagnostic and finds that she needs to replace her spark plugs, one coil and a gasket. Not a big deal mechanically/costly speaking so I figured the price would be relatively low. They end up quoting her close to $1,200. Immediately red flags are going off but my brother is more knowledgeable than I am with prices so I tell him what the issues were and what they were charging. He immediately was like, they're trying to rip your daughter off. The cost for what they described including parts and labor should be around $350.00. Where they're getting $1200 from he has no idea. So I call and speak first to the mechanic (didn't get his name) and ask wtf? He tries to give me the song and dance about that's the norm price wise so I say I think you're trying to take advantage of my daughter, let me speak to the manager! (Yes total Daren move but F it) Manager comes on after like 4-5 minutes of me being on hold and admittedly was a nice guy, however when I asked where they were getting that outlandish price from he said that parts would be nearly $700. Since when do spark plugs, a coil and a rubber gasket cost that damn much? I told him look we have mechanics in the family I asked my brother how much a job like this would cost and he said around $350. The manager says well if you can get the parts and bring them then we can do the work and the price would decrease. At this point I had enough of the bs and told them just put my daughters car back on the ground she'll take it somewhere else. I know the tone of this review would typically include something along the lines of "and the customer service was rude and shitty" but the truth is that even though they were obviously trying to rip my daughter off both the manager and the mechanic I spoke to were relatively nice about everything. Just not nice enough for me to forget about the price gouging though. My daughter gets her car back and takes it to Napo Major Auto Repair. They take a look and gave her a quote. Can you guess how much they quoted? Drum roll please.....$400 which is very close to the $350 my brother the mechanic said it would be. So where does that leave Pep Boys? If you want to speak to super nice people and have a great conversation then hands down go to Pep Boys but if you're looking for honesty matched with honest prices, then I'd avoid this place like a two dollar hooker with open sores on their face because you're guaranteed to feel like you got ripped off and not like what you came away with.

Today I arrived there the first thing I noticed a technician recklessly driving off the shop, someone else vehicle! Anyhow so I went there for a rideshare vehicle inspection ( something as simple as checking lights, tire tread depth, etc) the lady (Rocio) that did the inspection purposely verbaly fail the test stating that the tires need to be replaced and that either I replaced them before 5pm and go back so she can pass the test or come back the next day and pay another $20. The tires are good. I'm not stupid to do what she probably thought I was going to buy from them new tires. So instead, I went to Jiffy Lube to do the same simple inspection and guess what they promptly took care of me in less than 10 minutes. I was out with an approbed inspection! When back to pepboys and showed Rocio the approbed inspection so she can refund me the $20 , but nope, they don't do refunds she said!Got ripped off for a 5 minutes inspection!Paid musician doesn't play good music!Overall, I felt that I walked into a corrupted public service agency from a Latin America country.

They don't look upscale but they got the job done and they are always honoring their warranty. It's good enough for me. I don't need a coffee lounge to feel my car gets a better treatment like in the dealership. However it was slow. I waited 3 hours and half for a battery change.

I went to get a tire repaired (nail) but was told it could not be repaired and I needed all four tires, based on bad struts. Keep in mind I just bought these four tires here about 8 months ago.I asked about struts and was quoted a pair for over 2000. I declined. I went to a tire shop on pacific ave and had the tire repaired and asked about the condition of the other 3 tires, all 3 are in good condition and my struts are fine. I wouldn't recommend this particular pep boys, things have really changed here they used to have honest people here(smh) not anymore!

I had a horrible experience at this location. First of its not towards Jesus the supervisor who did help out but it's towards the people above Jesus for their actions and bad decisions. I took in my car for a radiator LEAK, I showed the technician and the sales rep where the leak was at and I showed them that it was leaking from the RADIATOR. I get a call saying that the problem was the hoses which that wasn't the issue but I let them do the job the cost for that was around 800. The next day I get into my car and it marks low coolant I get out car and the coolant is all over the place. So I take it back in and I keep telling them where the problems is at, the technician now tells me it the fan that it's not work which is not true because I never had a problem with over heating. So fine they do the work and it runs me up to 1350. The next day my car keeps leaking and I take it back in and they finally do a pressure test and they see that the issue was the radiator that runs me up to 1000. They played the guessing game when I kept showing them where the problem was at. So then I do a claim to get my money back for the previous jobs where Jesus did try his best to help out but I was told that the people above him canceled the claim because THEY FELT THAT THE CAR WAS OVER HEATING AND THEY HAD TO DO THE REPAIRS THEY MADE because those were the issues aswell. But triggered me was that they used the excuse to cancel the claim that my car was over heating when that was never the issue, I took it in for a leak! Jesus had my side but said he couldn't do much because they overruled him. I paid 2100 dollars for them to guess what was the problem when I told them directly what was the issue. Upper management canceled my claim for whatever reason and that was not right!!!

Went for an oil change. I made an appointment before showing up and upon arrival all bays were full along with the parking lot. Once I checked in my vehicle, I was told it would be an hour and a half to two hours and my oil change would be $100 on top of that. Just go to Jimmy lube.

I took my car in for an oil change on Wednesday 11/09. After 3 hours, I received a call saying they had to break my oil cap and engine oil housing filter in order to do my oil change. I went into the shop to go pick up my car and the technician verbatim said, "We can not get to the oil without breaking and replacing oil housing filter and filter cap." To which I responded, "Ok so you didn't do the oil change?" To which the technician said no. I then asked what was going on and I was told they couldn't get the cap off. So they have to break it. I asked how much it would cost to replace it and was told the housing filter was $208.80 and the cap was $130.42 plus they added a warranty that they didn't even ask me if I wanted it of $35.50. Basically the oil change was going to cost me $498.13! They were the ones who did my last oil change and never mentioned anything being wrong. Also, they sent me a auto inspection report that same day while I was waiting for my car to be serviced and nothing on that report said anything about replacing the oil housing filter or oil cap. Anyway, I told the technician no thank you and that I would go somewhere else. I was told they were bringing my car out and to wait for my keys. I got my keys and I drove out of the driveway. Before I could get to the signal, my car started making the craziest noise and all the lights came on on my dashboard saying low oil volume. My car then started driving terribly and so I just turned right back around to the shop. I walked in and asked them what they did to my car. My car was totally normal before I took it there. I asked if they drained all the oil out and not replace my oil? And how did they drain the oil when I was told they couldn't even get to it unless they broke my oil cap? Apparently the tech who was working on my car drained the oil, didn't tell anyone he didn't finish, and went to lunch." To this day I don't even know exactly what happened other than after being told they couldn't get to the oil, they somehow did manage to drain the oil, then never put oil in my car and let me drive off. My engine almost ceased and my car has since been making a weird sound. After all of this, they were actually going to charge me for the oil change even though they didn't even do it. I told them something had to be done. The response I got was that they will not charge me for the oil housing filter and just charge me for the oil cap. Then I was told nevermind that we will just add new oil to replace what they drained and not charge me for the oil. I am not sure what is going on with this Pep Boys but their service has become terrible and definitely unreliable. Here is a photo of the work order/invoice they gave me. Most importantly though, they claimed to not be able to get to the oil, somehow drained my car of all the oil, then told me they did the oil change after all, and then let me drive off with an empty oil tank that nearly ceased my engine. I had been a loyal customer but I will never take my car here again. I am so disappointed with their dishonesty and irresponsibility.
