In Los Altos running errands and wanted to pick-up shampoo/conditioner. Called to ask if they had what I needed in stock at Los Altos location (it's routinely stocked at the RWC location), but call went directly to voicemail. Parked and went inside. Warm and genuine greeting by retail clerks turned into condescending comments. They suggested I walk to Walgreens because the brand I was asking about is a drug store brand. Seriously, girls? Words matter and yours hurt. You can do better. Three stars because the downtown Los Altos location is perfectly located, store is modern and clean/well-stocked, but deducted 2 stars for condescending comments and crappy attitude.

I echo everyone else's feedback who mentioned the rude staff. Won't be going here anymore.

It makes for an uncomfortable shopping experience when staff are visibly bored and objectively disinterested in helping customers.Below are conversations with different sales people that took place when I was attempting to shop at the store last week (there were 4 sale people present and it was not busy):Senario 1:After failing to get any attention at the makeup counter, I put 3 shades of eyeshadow on my hand and walked over to a sales person chatting with two other staffers.Me: What do you think of these shades (for me)?Sales person: Pretty? The sales person barely turned to deliver this comment in an annoyed tone before resuming her conversation with fellow staffers.Senario 2:Me: I am looking for a light weight cream for my face.Sales Person: I like Augustine Badger.Me: That is a $200 cream. I would prefer something less expensive.Sales person: Okay. The sales person shrugged, stayed on her stool and continued applying makeup to herself.Senario 3:Me: I am $12 shy of spending $250 which gets me 20% off. What products have you liked this season? Anything you consider a must have?Sales person: I know what I would like for me….I have no idea what you would like …….......there are gift bundles up front. The sales person's tone was dismissive. At this point I left the store and will not be returning.

I hate to give bad reviews but I feel like I should in this case as the staff was rude. I stopped in looking for a face serum. When I asked questions about the difference between two products, she read me the name of the product and said "you don't know what that means?" I won't be going back there. The two employees were just standing around chatting. The point of going into the store is to learn more about the products.

I was so happy to find this place on the way to run some errands! I just wanted to give a shout out to the lady who helped me there today! I was not sure about what type of foundation to go with because my skin has been so clogged and congested lately. She went above and beyond to help me and gave me some cute little freebies/samples to try on top of the foundation and primer I purchased. Also saw they had some of my favorite skin care brands I can't find elsewhere (only online) I will definitely be back!

I have never seen an employee so excited to assist a customer and talk about skin care products. The team is incredibly knowledgeable and really helps find the best product for you. They are also incredibly welcoming and friendly. I left with some great products, but also feeling like I made new friends. It’s rare to have an experience like this but I witnessed the team interacting with others in exactly the same manner. They also loved my dog (and the feeling was mutual), so that says it all! ?

I found Jodi, who works there very informative and helpful. She speaks to the everyday needs in a common-sense sort of way, which I find useful. I use Chanticaille which is sold at Bluemercury. Purchasing it here is better than at a larger store. The only down side is that I the store needs more staff, it's often busy and I feel the staff is rushed.

The location is perfect and they have exactly what I need, but asking if you need any help is more of a formality and not genuine. You're interrupting the ladies conversations if you need help and half the time they don't know much about the products and then one person will currently give you the answer and then proceed to ignore you. I like being able to shop without being bothered but at the same time the coldness made me feel like I was not welcome especially when I was ready to check out and I had no idea how to go about it because they do not have a very designated counter and I guess you have to go up to them and their tablet to do so. I didn't know this and it was such a snotty attitude. Also the website makes it sound like you might receive some nice samples with your purchase and I feel like for the amount of money spent there you should definitely get samples which I was not offered and when I was offered a bag it was almost like they didn't want to give me one because I wasn't good enough for one. This location is definitely made for local yokels and not plebs with money like me. They were more interested in this local lady walking her dog who had no intention of buying Who was quite tedious by the way. I don't understand why you need to put on a smiling face for people like that but people actually spending money get treated coldly because we don't fit in the neighborhood People in your staff may not even live in either. Absolute bootlickers at this one. I'll keep shopping at Bluemercury just not up this one. When I shop for beauty products I like to be treated like a customer not someone in everyone's way.

This store is hugely disappointing. I was a loyal customer of Peninsula Beauty for years, which carried more variety of products. I read in Forbes the strategy of this store is to carry fewer products so as not to overwhelm the customer. But there is such a thing as too little selection. They carry only a handful of brands, and only a few products from each brand. When I asked about whether they carried a some brands and products I used to buy at PB, the salesperson was a bit snotty, saying I should shop elsewhere because BM carries only luxury brands. I was asking about luxury brands. Anyway, whenever I go in, the store has maybe one thing I actually want, where as PB often had several. It's a total waste of time to drop in for one item that maybe they will have. I've been in about 6 times, hopeful the store would improve, but it hasn't. I've completely given up. I won't be going back.

Dropped in last year to browse for holiday gifts. Service was excellent, so I bought all my office gifts here. I've been back many times since to purchase more gifts and to purchase items for myself.

Sandra was very rude and assaulting. Jody and Gina were full of gossip. I was very surprised with Jasmine as she was very helpful although it was her day off and she happened to be in the store.
