I used to get great service from my credit union. However, over the last year and a half (since I retired) it has been one problem after another. First, they had me drive (45 minutes each way) to create a trust account in person, only to find out they misunderstood the type of account I was asking for and they said they couldn't do it. I received poor service with their home loan agent, to the point where I switched to a loan agent with my bank while in escrow. Looking into opening a CD, they only give good rates to NEW customers, so I took that business elsewhere as well. Also, over the last year and a half, the wait times on hold have been ridiculous. While on hold I am prompted to press "one" to get a call back, and it doesn't work. I could go on, but I think I've made my point.

I've been a member since 1979. It's been a positive experience since.

Today my husband and I visited this branch after being told that we would need an appointment at the Spring street location. The young lady from that location stated that she messaged someone at the Main Street location and they said they we could come in right now. When we arrived, the staff had no idea why the young lady said that because she had not spoken to them. It was time for them to close for lunch. But instead of turning us away Mike (MSO) and Evelin (Head teller) went out of their way to not only help us, but to provide excellent customer service! What an amazing team at this location!

This was a merger with the California Bear Credit Union. As I've learned from my early days, credit unions offer pretty decent loans for car purchases, if there are no dealer incentives. Last month, there was a five percent APR Savings promotions for new money, and will likely go up as interest rates go up. The location provides free parking at the State Building, and is right in the Center Center near everything, and is walking distance to J-Town, City Hall and the various destinations, such as the Broad and Disney Concert Hall. Although I'll miss California Bear Credit Union, this new credit union offers more resources with more local branches to choose from.

Going to calbear office in LA downtown was the worst ever. Not only they didn't validate my parking and had to pay $20, but the manager at the calbear office made me fill out forms over and over for little mistakes and at end the manager said they couldn't help me because i was missing a document i had provided. Manager seemed he didn't want to process my membership form. Receptionist was polite but the manager didn't make feel welcome and I was wasted my time and didn't recieve the service I was expecting. I decided not to open the membership nor any service they provide. I wouldn't recommend anyone to waste their time with this credit union.

I've been with this credit union over 15 years. Most of the staff are great. Somethings you should think about before joining is they are not open in Saturday. So if you needed to speak to anyone or go into a bank it's not gonna happen you will have to wait until the next business day which is pretty inconvenient to me. They are a small credit union and only have two branches I believe which are both located DTLA. I just feel they need to have someone LIVE that we as customers/members are able to talk to and feel confident and safe about our funds. I also tried applying for a loan which was a disaster. The loan agent wasn't very helpful as others in different financial institutions. They have a few things they definitely need to Work on catch up With the times make things easy and accessible to their members

The bank customer service is horrible, I have spent a year trying to get them a single document. Multiple attempts and they could not care less! Do not open an account here.

California Bear Credit Union was late on paying off my auto loan to Capital One and of course they sent me to collections. Getting someone to rectify this at Cal Bear is impossible! The supervisor Lissette Moreno does not answer her phone and does not return phone calls.

Wish I could give negative stars. Do NOT use for shared branch services. They refuse to fax my disability check to my credit union so they can release the funds. Management has been unresponsive

Beware: They do not offer most online services such as: Apple Pay & Zelle partnership. I warn you, you will have no way of transferring funds or using Apple Pay. Ive emailed/chatted with them about this extremely inconvenient issue and all they had to say was that "They were a small bank"... The excuses are unprofessional and quite absurd.
