I often go to Korea. Citi Bank has ATMs in Korea and you can deposit and withdraw money right away just by paying a fee.
So I went to Citi Bank on March 4th to open an account. I went there without making an appointment, met Irene Kim,but actually, I needed to make an appointment. That's why I made an appointment schedule with her and applied for a business account the next day, the 5th.
That day, I took my Social Security Card, Driver's License ID, and other documents needed to open a Small Business Account. She reviewed my documents at the account opening department and explained to me that it would take about a week for my account to be opened.
I also prepared cash to make a deposit that day, therefore I didn't understand it at all.
On the 10th, Irene called me. She said she needed my utility documents. I took them on the 5th, but she said she didn't need them and returned them to me, so I brought them back. On the 10th, in spite of raining, I stopped by the bank and gave her my utility documents.
On the 13th, I got another call from her. She said she needed my Social Security Card and Driver ID, Those were I had taken to her on the 5th, but she had returned them to me saying she didn't need , and I felt a little wronged. I didn't want to go to the bank again. It was annoying. I asked if I could scan them and email them to her, and she said yes, so I emailed them to her. Monday came and I hadn't heard from her, so I emailed her to ask what was going on. The next day, I got a reply saying that they were still reviewing my documents. I told her that if I made a deposit of $5,000 or more and kept it, the bank would give me a bonus cashback, so is that why? It has been 14days, and is it normal for it to take this long to open an account? My credit score is excellent, and I've had a business account at another bank for 8 years, so I don't understand why. I went to Chase today and opened a business account right away and came back.I gave up to open my business account at Citi bank.

Met with one of the banking, staff members, José. He was extremely knowledgeable, personable, and helpful. I'm generally not impressed with Banks or their performance but I will say José Espinoza did a great job!

RACISM if you are not Korean forget about this location,I am a CITY GOLD CARD member with Cd’s and checking accounts ,Jennifer lee attend me I have some questions about investment,also want to make a deposit of 10,000 she told me to wait on line that is ok with me but when I see a Korean guy who asked her where to send 3,000 to Korea she made him skip the line and be treated like royalty straight to the window so I told her hey we are waiting why he has to go ahead of us? She just smiles and she don’t care also she supposed made order a new card for me when that never came I call and that the order never was made :( and if you want a make a appointment with your health advisor here they never have spots available to attend you but don’t worry if you are KOREAN just walk-in and you’ll be very welcome with out appointment, I saw it with my own eyes
