### 2023 review 47/100 ### It's that time of the year....... Pro tip: do call and double check that this CVS (or anywhere you go) is *** IN- NETWORK ### with your insurance. Otherwise you would be getting a bill in the mail for a couple hundred $$ if insurance doesn't cover. Yup. That's how it goes starting this year since pandemic is "officially over" per the Gov't. Book your Covid-19 booster online on CVS website. Check in on the link sent by text when you arrive. Wait by the area with the sign "covid shots" Get your booster shot & while you're there, flu shot as well. Wait for 15 mins, per nurse instructions. Just in case you turn unto a zombie. LOL. All done. Easy peasy.

I don't get the low reviews. Never had a problem here at all. Staff is cordial. It's not a gross location, it's like any other chain pharmacy. There are homeless in the area, but that's not whatsoever their fault. What the heck is wrong with you people.

Your pharmacist send me to watch a YouTube video or to make an appointment on how to use trulicity. I needed to take my weekly injection yesterday it was my 3rd time. The other 2 times pharmacists at other CVs stores guided me through it. I work full time. I couldn’t make it to another pharmacy yesterday or today. It takes month to make app with doctors. & if this YouTube video is so informative why doesn’t she watch it? Your pharmacist lacked knowledge on how to use a product that you carry & I got from you. Literally didn’t know how to lock or unlock it. How I would know if I got the dosage.I tried to approach her twice. She was dismissive like I am waisting her time & she has other more important patients to attend to. Like it was not her job to make sure that I knew how to operate the syringe. & I am to dumb to know how to watch a YouTube video. I am a diabetic sending me on my way when I clearly stated twice that I don’t know how to use the product literally puts my life in danger. & her passing the ball to YouTube or Dr that take forever to see for a medicine that needs to be taken right than. It’s not only incompetent & irresponsible it’s dangerous.

Worst pharmacy ever...their own employees don't know the process of transferring prescriptions or conducting consultations. Would not recommend this pharmacy to anyone. 0⭐

From pre-to-post customer service, this pharmacist was unprofessional, disrespectful, and lacing in all-around service... the corporate office should look into this pharmacy and clean it up from top to bottom... Transfers are in order and more in service training required.

TL;DR:The pharmacist (Adrienne) didnt like my original review - called my doctor and was weirdly emotional with the front desk person about a prescription that was backordered, informing them she is refusing to fill any more prescriptions for me after lying and saying I filed a complaint and also saying I had chosen another pharmacy to fit my needs (which one is it?). I was totally taken aback as neither thing was true and my Dr's office was just as confused and here we are.For the record I have never been inappropriate in any way while interacting at this pharmacy. I may have been visibly annoyed at times to the point where it was easy to tell (e.g. after I had to go in to the store in person 3 times to sort out 1 script because they never pick up the phone), but I never one time stepped out of line with or ever tried to put blame on any pharmacy employee. That is the truth. The situation:Adrienne seems to have had a very strong emotional reaction after seeing the below review, seems to have looked up my name here against open prescriptions (is that legal?) and proceeded to call my doctor (wildly unethical) and say I had chosen another pharmacy to serve my needs (that was not true. In fact there was another filled script there waiting to be picked up at that moment). In truth - I had transferred ONE prescription in June to Westwood because they were out of stock and on backorder - but all others were filled there regularly for 5 years but she chose to mischaracterize that one transfer (a transfer that SHE called to facilitate mind you) to serve her emotional agenda. She then told the Dr she would no longer be filling my prescriptions because I had "filed a complaint against them" (I didn't file any complaints, she was clearly referencing the below review). Also which one is it? Did I choose to move on or are you moving on due to my "complaint?" Let's stick to one story? That kind of behavior is confusing and concerning. It is also unprofessional at best and unethical at worst. When I called to discuss it with her directly she said she she had tried to call me and update me on the current medication situation and said she "always" does this (this is likely true - when she recited my number back to me they had it wrong in the system by 1 digit so I never got a call and voicemails didn't come to me - but I checked and my number is correct in my CVS account) but then AGAIN chose to mischaracterize that I had said I was moving to a different pharmacy. Even if I did (I didn't) IT IS A CVS - I can fill scripts at 30 different locations if I choose, and that is the point of a CVS. Their network - for convenience. So subtext - I am banning you because I am having feelings about your comments on Yelp. And yes, my comments on Yelp were me having feelings about the impossibility of easily communicating with them and not getting many prescriptions filled in a timely manner. Which is what Yelp exists for.For a store that has a 2.1 TOTAL rating overall (it is not like I am one bad review in a sea of praise), perhaps be more reflective on the experience you provide customers and less vindictive when a bad Yelp review comes thru and you won't get such bad reviews. Now I probably will be filing a complaint with BBB and CVS Corporate because this is weirdly petty but worse, it is an abuse of her power. I expect medical professionals to be truthful at the very least and not to try and cut off access because they are upset about social media. Also - she could have discussed all of this with me directly and we probably could've reached a better understanding, resolved the issues and maybe I would have even deleted the review. Alas. The original review:this pharmacy just can't handle life as we know it. you'll wait on hold for hours. they just don't pick up. they left me on hold for 40 minutes then just closed the pharmacy and never picked up. i'm sure they're busy but that's unacceptable. the CVS app is a tragedy and has zero functionality so phone is

Ah, CVS, a chain where the average rating is somewhere between a 1.5 and 2.5. I can't believe I used to invoke it when making the case against romanticization of mom-and-pop pharmacies. (The case went like this: CVS at least pays its workers robust benefits and has a wage floor, but from a consumer perspective, you can also call up your prescription anywhere in the country without the hassle you'd face if you had to use a mom-and-pop.) That latter benefit is the sole reason why I tolerate CVS's 1970s oil crisis length lines (a sign of "labor squeeze) and constant bungling. This location is definitely in the 1.5/2.5 range: didn't prepare one of my meds, and when they finally did, the pharmacy closed, so I couldn't get the other one and had to waste another day to get it. As a business, a pharmacy isn't a hard one to replicate, and it's only a matter of time before a shrewd start-up breaks the CVS-Walgreens-Riteaid chokehold.

I've been going on and off to this pharmacy for about 6 years now, not because they're any good, but because the nature of my conditions make it difficult to travel far for medication. The pharmacists here are not only callous, but actively read the worst into all of their clients. If you are unfortunate enough, as am I, to require using medications which fall under the egregiously bad Controlled Substances Act, you will be treated like a criminal by the pharmacists at 8985. Never once have I felt like I was treated in good faith as a patient just trying to stay alive; the pharmacists here assume you and I are coming in bad faith: either we are addicts, or are actually criminally reselling the medications on the black market. If you ever lose a bottle, or a few pills, as one might genuinely do when dealing with mental or physical conditions, the pharmacists at this CVS will give you no quarter - they'll tell you to pound sand. Not only that - but they are constantly running out of critical medications and will often refuse to tell you where else you could go to get them - again - because they assume you are a criminal looking to case the joint - not a patient just looking to get healthcare. I highly recommend against ever patronizing CVS if you can avoid it - and the pharmacists at this particular location, 8985 Venice, get the absolute lowest of marks from me.

a cvs experience is usually the same as the last: employees don't talk to you, you don't talk to them, you see drug store things you need that are a bit overpriced and tell yourself you can find it cheaper somewhere else. and gosh forbid considering giving them a call if you need something. i needed to change pharmacies bc my pcp messed up on something. i gave it a shot bc i saw yelp gave this cvs's direct local number and not a 1-800. i was hopeful. as like anywhere else, the automated machine at first was annoying but after it all, i pressed 1 and it took me to the front desk. the staff who answered was so kind and sent me straight to the pharm. the kind pharm on duty at this time was swamped busy, you could hear it in her voice. after a short conversation, she learned i had been without some medication for an infection for a few days. she collected the necessary info, didn't promise it could be done today (very honest) and did what she needed to do and we got off the phone. she even set up my cvs account for a smooth process when i come in without even me asking -- even tho she was so busy! got a text within a a few minutes saying it'd be ready in the morning. i am here now and the line is long but the staff is going through it seamlessly. they have good attitude and the wait is not long. what a rare experience. thank you cvs venice blvd. i got a text

18 days later, I haven't heard back management, or received a call, or message, not even a reply to this message. Just left, and the same anus pharmacist is here. Undoubtedly providing biased service and endangering the lives of people like me. We wonder why people self medicate. Why now, when faced with prejudiced service at every level of healthcare. I hope that one day, you guys need medical help and care, and I hope you get the same kind of service you provide.

I went here yesterday for a shot. I know that it’s not that bad; however, as someone who gets filler and botox, there is clearly an art to it. I was ready for something more on the jarring side, but it was surprisingly pain free. The nurse doing injections is one of the best. I’ll be going back to this only from now on. Thank you!

Janelle in pharmacy went above and beyond for me. I should have done this with you sooner so I could have a more accurate recollection of exactly the chain of events all I know is I was very frustrated because my text kept telling me that my medication was available and they couldn't find it and she was so good at calming down and using every avenue and she did eventually track it down and did it with a smile on her face that's good service! And this part is about Dennis. I have seen Dennis throughout the year frequently overworked and understaffed and still serving customers with a smile and being patient and taking things as they come to him without losing his temper getting mad or anything. He is one of the most even keeled and friendly staff members at CVS I've ever encountered.I complimented him today and telling him I come in here a lot and I see you always dealing with a nightmare and you never let it get you down you're always on it even when there's not enough people to help you and there's 20 people in your line, Dennis maintains composure and handles it like a champ! Janelle and Dennis are excellent employees! In a world full of people who don't want to work, CVS should consider these two employees valuable assets!
