I truly believe that they found all the kind hearted people in the world and hired them. I wish that I could give them 10 stars for everything. Counseling, employment, ID services, physical health, food, lots of resources to help improve your life and more. I want to give a shout out to Katy, she is an angel - a resourceful angel, She has helped me a lot. Another shout to Zeena who works really hard to get housing situated among other needs, and another shout out to every member of staff that I have come in contact with. I always look forward to going to the downtown women center.

Every little helps these women get back on track. I donated blazers and blouses for interviews, tracksuits, sweats and sweaters it's been a long winter. Also a big pile of almost new jeans. Socks and bras etc are very needed as well. Hope you love my donations ladies! Praying for you to find your light.

Every day donations are arriving at the center. However. Those donations NEVER reached the intended recipients. Everything is hoarded by the staff. They never are satisfied enough. (Food and clothing) staff keeps the best. Toss the crumbs they don want to the clients.

December 2022 by Its not me, its you
Why is it that no one answers telephone lines or the messages left? voice mail full. why are you so picky ( look at Goodwill) you have several security guards that can easily accept donations at gate instead one need to schedule an appointment? Come on you you act as if are asking you for favors. people need help why do donors have to beg to donate ? pffff your staff isn't as nice as one would think . Thee people are homeless depressive, lonely in many cases, they need love understanding ad patience overall. and your staff isn't any of that. i have tried contacting several of your staff for months left messages an no none has ever return any of my calls since the Spring. what does this tell you? not cool! Seems many are there for the paycheck no sympathy or car for the lonely and homeless.

I give it one star for being a safe place to eat and shower. They make u wait a month or two for a caseworker if they don't know u. If they know you from their hood or if they where in the program with you from their past lives, then they make sure you get housing and other resources. They talk to people really rude and swear they to busy to assist. Donations they have but say they don't. My caseworker still haven't called and when I first met her she lied and said she been looking for me. Just to try to schedule me another intake for two weeks of meeting her.

Horrible comments from women they should be helping. The only reason They score high is the comments from people making donations and not the ones in need. Seems the CEO needs to look into the treatment by staff and their business practices.

This is unfortunate because the cause is good but the agency is dysfunctional. I'm a former employee here and the more women I managed to house the more retaliation and hostility I endured from the agency. They don't pay the rents of clients so they burn bridges with land lords causing more trauma for clients. The clients get to treat the workers how they want which is terrifying most of the time. Staff will not support you if a client literally attacks you or is having some form of psychotic break. They don't take serious work seriously. But they take their egos very seriously. The agency doesnt handle feedback with grace. Additionally they retaliate and blame. Highly immature environment. They stole wages from my check and were not accountable. Pregnant staff were threatened they wouldn't get time off unless case notes (that they don't even check or train you on) were completed. They challenge workers rights to say the least. While saying they are making a difference. I truly believe this agency is stealing funding from the public. They are truly horrible people to work for. They truly took the joy out of identifying housing for people who need it. They truly drain the joy of helping people by exploiting their workers. The environment is disgusting. It's just overall terrible. HR is a mess, they are highly disorganized, clumsy and overall goons.

I was homeless in 2019 and had gotten my Section 8 Voucher, but I couldn’t find anywhere within my budget to move to. The Downtown Women’s Center assisted me in finding an apartment when I was in jeopardy of losing my voucher. Here is a picture of me signing my rental agreement. I’m still here today in 2022. It didn’t stop there. They blessed me with pots and pans, pillows, and other miscellaneous items. Til this day I am still connected with my caseworker and she calls me each month to make sure I’m doing well and to see if I have any new concerns. In fact she’s assisting me with a new concern that I have now. Downtown Women’s Center has been a total blessing to me especially during this time of covid-19. I have nothing but the highest regard for this organization.

This place needs to do better. This was my experience 3/4 years ago. I left this review on their MADE by DWC page and I will share it here too as it is one and the same organization!!! Might be posted out of order but you should get it the point.

Her gossip, violating my HIPPA while paramedics attended to my ailing symptoms in this excruciating heat wave; her attitude, actions, behavior, mannerisms, and throwing water where the splashes wet my ankles and tennis shoes all triggered fear and intimidation in a place meant as a haven.NOT A SINGLE staff person stopped her berating nor personally punishing for expressing her unacceptable demeanor...I filed an incident report, she made face & body gestures to continue her judgement on my person.I will never return to a place not safe to express thoughts nor discomfortanle feelings...
