I enjoyed my shopping experience here even though most shops were closed due to a powerful storm moving through the area. It felt like I was in a back alley in China with merchants lining both sides of the way. I would like to return when all the shops are open.

Quality/Quantity - Wow, what a find! Cheapest souvenirs you will ever find! I did not buy anything as you get what you pay for here also. This place is a maze. I entered through one door, walked through a few businesses (100 businesses) and came out half a block away in a different mall... All small business owners here. I'm surprised my wife did not buy anything, she loves supporting these types of businesses. Many street vendors also, see pictures. Atmosphere - This place is crazy busy and crazy crowded. It doesn't help that there is so much merchandise that it blocks the paths. I think all these businesses/malls are connected somehow. Like a maze. Service - Okay. Price - Inexpensive. Perfect place if you are the type of person that needs to buy souvenirs to bring back home. Owner Comment - What a cool place, I will come back just to hang out here to study the business models.

The current gold and silver building center in Chinatown is a good place to buy gold and silver jewelry, jade jewelry, and gemstones. The items are quite complete.

I've been coming to this plaza since I was a child and I've always loved it, it mimics the shopping experience in street markets in South East Asia and from minimal experience East Asian street markets. Despite this recently I was extremely disappointed in the plaza as my last two visits were a month before Covid lockdown and right after many places began to open up. I feel like the most recent time had already began to reveal how the plaza is evolving. Although there being many attractive stalls and new ones like the Korean clothing shop and the Filipino Clothing shop, and the veteran Shop like the Bahn Mi/Vietnamese place or the couple across from them selling Chinese New Year Decorations. However, I was incredibly terrified multiple times as one woman who appeared Hispanic was chasing people out of the shop for having their phones out and was generally so aggressive turning away so many customers and even threatening to shoot people who were "taking pictures" and she was selling anime figures and bags that were super cute and anime related. But I had a terrible experience with a woman's stall next to this lady's; essentially I was interested in buying pajamas from this woman and she tried to get me to buy 4 pieces for 100 dollars. When I rejected her offer she chased me as I was walking out and threatened to call the police and kill me if I kept walking out and I ended up just buying some stuff to get her off my back for less money than she originally wanted. I was so upset after this and I want to warn anyone who is a first timer or hasn't been there in a while. I don't know many names but I heavily recommend going to any of the children's shops, especially one owned by an older I think Vietnamese or Chinese man cause he has a great selection of bras and sells 2 pairs for 10 dollars and have amazing craftsmen ship. I also recommend the blanket shop owned by an older couple near one of the entrances as their blankets are a good price(10-20 dollars), super soft and coquette. I also recommend the women selling more childish pajamas as they're really soft with good quality fabric and stitching with great prices if you get multiple pieces. I also recommend another woman selling anime apparel and bags who looks East Asian. I also recommend most people towards the back of the plaza if you enter through the front that's advertised in one of the pictures in the gallery. These people are super friendly and sweet and the people near the front are more aggressive. I think a lot of people are more aggressive after Covid and feel like people are automatically enemies or unkind, but in the same vain a lot of people in the plaza have stayed the same after many years and are still extremely kind. Please support many of these people as they're incredibly kind but be wary of some as well! There are also a lot of Stanley's and thermos and home items that I don't have experience buying but I've seen others purchase and have great experiences. Also support the fruit sellers near and around the area like on the sidewalk. Their produce is amazing!

Saigon Plaza is very similar to the layout of stores in Asia and is very similar to the shopping districts in Vietnam. It is mostly stalls selling various goods and trinkets suitable for gifts. Prices here are quite inexpensive and in most places you can haggle if you know how to do it properly. However, many of the goods here are not of high quality or may be knockoffs of other brands, so don't expect too much.

This is a special place. I often visit here just to get away from the rest of LA, it's a different world and somehow feels safer. Perhaps it's the community of shop owners. My favorite part is the mystery. There are closed shopfronts, dark staircases, locked doors, all within a maze-like layout you can easily get lost in. I can't help but wonder how it became what it is... there's a sense of freedom here that you don't get just anywhere. The reality is that much of what you'll find here is cheap and maybe not the best quality ever, but I guess the experience is enough for me.
