Love this place! Our family has been shopping here for a long time. Yes some things can be a little pricey but we're paying for convenience and almost always great quality. Great burrito place in the back that has outrageous tortillas. I'm not sure what's up with the other place two blocks away that seems like it's trying to be La Tropicana. Also, the most amazing cookies!

Renee has an amazing place. The drink selection is excellent, the produce section is surprisingly robust.

Can't say enough positive things about La Tropicana, I've been coming here for years! Rana is warm and welcoming and really invested in her community and her customers. She wants to get to know you! The coffee and juices are awesome, and the back food area always serves something delicious, even if the name changes (they've had a few diff restaurants back there over the years). They have fresh produce, good pantry and household items, a nice wine and beer selection, and is perfect for whenever I need to grab something quickly. I'm writing this review now because another business opened up down the street (Carla's Fresh Market) and I don't want La Tropicana to get overshadowed. The new market is overpriced and catering to the new hip HLP residents, and basically offering what La Tropicana already is - but with a higher price tag and less selection. La Tropicana feels accessible to EVERYONE in the HLP neighborhood and you can see that from what they stock, who they employ, and their prices. 10/10.

Great drinks. And you can also drink coffee with pastries and have a delicious meal. Friendly staff. Take a look, you won't regret it. I recommend.

Their stuff is a little pricey, but they have some pretty solid offerings for when you want something a little fancier than standard groceries. Good spot to grab some food to go, eat at one of their tables, or sit in the big park nearby on Figueroa. Also a good place for wine and cheese if you're on your way somewhere where that sort of thing would be appropriate.

La Tropicana is kinda local, kinda hip and has almost everything that you may possibly need! I initially came here to try out their kombucha bar but to my surprise they had things you typically get on your grocery store runs and more - all quality products too from organic, natural to local brands. They also offer sandwiches, craft beers, acai bowls, coffee, etc. It's definitely a one stop shop whether you're a local or passing by the neighborhood!

Fancy market with a wide selection of high end drinks and snacks. Also an espresso bar and juice bar. Last but not least, La Palma burritos in the back, and frozen ones too!

Great small family owned market. They have delicious hot food options from las palma, fresh juice and coffee, baked goods, produce, tons of specialty drinks in the fridge, and kitchen staples.

A great market. It's not where you'll necessarily do the bulk of your shopping, but they have a lot of harder to find items that larger grocery store or markets in the area don't carry. As far as pricing, it's not discount by any means but I think for the quality of products offered and at a convenience of being in the neighborhood, they're largely fair if you shop smart. An added bonus that cannot be forgotten is that La Palma burritos recently opened up a kitchen in back which is 5 stars in it's own right. The staff are always very kind and helpful.Worth a visit, for sure. You'll probably be back!

The remodel turned this place from a bodega/corner shop vibe to a total organic oasis. It’s a total vibe. They’ve got a coffee bar, a sandwich counter, and an açaí/smoothie bar. Unique alcohol, exotic snacks, and attentive service. Ultimately, a utopic, miniature Whole Foods…without the corporate demigod above.Family owned (it seems), great product (I regularly get açaí here, & coffee,or smoothies occasionally too).Frequented by the typicalNELA re-gentrifying cool-kid crowds….always feels alive, and there’s some great street side tables to sit and people-watch at.Prices are typical for LA…last time I went, it was $40 for an açaí bowl, a smoothie, and a piece of coffee cake.
