Good quality food and a nice atmosphere. Strongly recommend this place.Had to wait 35 minutes to get a table, regret we didn't prebook a table.
About the restaurant: Restaurateur Jean-Louis De Mori (The 3rd Stop) and executive chef Antonio Tommasi are behind Maccheroni Republic in downtown L.A. along the Broadway Theater District. The restaurant has a homey, rustic feel ---- you'll find no tablecloths or cloth napkins here. On the side of Maccheroni Republic, adjacent to a quiet alley, is a shaded patio lined with olive trees. During the day there's a business lunch vibe, but at night the tables are packed with locals out for good food at a good value.Food & Drinks: The menu is simple, straightforward and split into appetizers, soups, salads and homemade pastas. Your server will also bring around a chalkboard listing desserts and daily specials, like a fennel and orange salad with organic salmon scallopine. Start with Polpettine di Gamberi (crispy pan-fried shrimp cakes served with caramelized onions) before selecting from more than a dozen pasta options including fettucine with wild boar ragu, and fusilli with sautéed Scottish salmon. There's also an affordable list of wines. For dessert look for authentic cannoli, tiramisu and panna cotta.
