The rooms are small and outdated, but the hotel itself is so beautiful and historic. There are hundreds of photos of the different tv shows and movies that have filmed there. You also can't beat the location, which is really close to the subway. The wow factor when you walk into the lobby is second to none.

I absolutely love the history and architecture of this hotel. But what makes it the best in downtown LA is the staff they have there. Most of the staff we spoke to had been there for years. Paul at the Bell desk has 30+ years in, was extremely helpful And friendly, and gave us a great explanation of the history of the hotel as we were checking in. Eric at the bar was amazing. Super friendly, had great conversation and of course he gave us the best service. The front desk was amazing as well, accommodating us when we needed to move rooms, Without a question or charge. This will be our go to hotel when visiting downtown LA moving forward. Highly recommend.

Nice hotel with great history, great location. I wish the staff was more friendly and welcoming and some sound proofing would be perfect since it’s very noisy. The room was good and clean. To get to the parking lot you need to use two elevators and when you ask someone at the desk for help they would reply “I don’t know I don’t work at parking”.

Me and my partner stayed her for an extended long weekend vacation. Upon arrival, they first placed us in a room with 2 twin beds, however they did change our room at our request with no problem. They also informed us the air conditioning was currently down, and they were unsure of when it would be fixed. Needless to say, that first night was tough. By the time we woke up however it did seem to be fixed. The hotel itself has a lot of character, and beautiful ballrooms. The rooms I found to be very outdated. The bathroom was very small, and the toilet looked like one that is found in a public restroom. The tv was really close to the bed and we found it hard to put things into the mini fridge. We did get a chance to use the pool and the sauna, the hot tub was out of service. Overall we had a very decent stay besides the first night with no air conditioning. I liked how they had pictures in the hallways of all the movies filmed there and all the history shown in the gallery on your way to the gym/pool. The customer service also helped make this stay so great. Everyone was friendly, accommodating and very helpful. Do I think this is a 4 star hotel, no. The price is too high for the quality of room you are staying in, however its understandable for being located downtown LA and given its history. Overall experience 3.5/5

This hotel is an odd mix. On one level it is a gorgeous hotel (lobby, bar, ballrooms, etc.), mixed with old(ish) rooms and old fixtures. For instance the lobby area of the hotel is stunning and filled with pictures of the Oscars taking place there in the 30's and 40's, but the men's restroom on the same floor looks like a junior high bathroom (complete with broken locks on half the stall doors). Great customer service though, very very friendly and accommodating staff. I would stay here again for sure, but it feels like the hotel should do a little extra to live up to the historic nature of the place.

We were shocked by how gorgeous the hotel lobby is but that's pretty much it. The room is so outdated, it looks clean but every thing in it is either old or broken, don't believe the nice photo they put online, those are fake photos... Our room looked nothing like it...The toilet seat is off to the side, the bedding and towels were starchy from the 1 million times washes. Motel has more comfortable beddings. I guess people who gave the 4/5 stars reviews only stayed in the lobby.Parking is $50 per night. It just doesn't fit the bill of a standard 3 stars hotel, if a decent room is what you are looking for you should look elsewhere. Price was reasonable but I don't think we will stay here again. And their AC was broken for more than 24 hours, the room is more than 80 degrees and we can't sleep at all. The hotel didn't provide anything to compensate nor even bother to let us know what happened until we asked...

The hotel has beautiful iconic public spaces - lobby, dining hall, etc. The room was spacious if little dated and worn.Overall a good experience up until checkoutThe passenger elevators stopped working sometime the night before my departure. No one informed me - no calls, notes or signs. A passing cleaner told me to take the freight elevator on the 11th floor to the lobby. My complaint at check out was met with a half hearted apology and a promise that the GM would be in touch. No one has contacted me since.Rooms: Spacious room with high ceilings and a large window. Overall comfortable if a little worn downNearby activities: Pershing Square is across the street from the hotel and is undergoing a long overdue renovation. Hopefully the new park design will reduce the number of homeless people and dealers using it.Safety: Located in a more seedy part of DTLA, but a neighborhood that is definitely improving. Close to Broadway and Spring St, both of which are rich with the history of LA.Walkability: About a mile to the LA convention center and the Crypto ArenaFood & drinks: Pitchoun bakery and cafe on S Olive St, located on the same block as the hotel, is well worth stopping in for breakfast , lunch and dinner (Skip the overpriced boring food in the hotel)Noteworthy details: Stunningly beautiful public spaces from the more opulent era of grand hotels.

We had a terrible experience with this hotel. At check-in, they could not locate our reservation and we had to wait over 30 minutes for them to figure things out. And in one of our rooms, the shower drain was clogged and the bathtub was flooded after every shower. What was worse was dealing with the hotel over the additional charges after our stay. I was charged additional hidden fees, which were not stated on our reservations. When I called up the hotel to clarify about the fees, I was told that those were hotel fees that should be paid upon check-in, which no one at the hotel told us about when we checked in. What was more horrifying was that 2 MONTHS after our stay, an additional charge from the hotel showed up on my statement. When we called the hotel regarding this, we were told the charge was for the unpaid hotel room... But we had paid in full for the rooms prior to arrival. And no hotel staff could help us rectify this double charge over the phone. It is overall a very unpleasant experience, not only for the stay but also the haunting aftermath of it.

Our go-to hotel when we're in town. We have stayed at other properties in the area, and the cost and value does not compare to the Biltmore. We love the architecture and historical aspects of the hotel. Plus the rooms are well appointed and always clean. The staff are friendly and helpful as well. Recommended if you're staying in DTLA.

This hotel has it all! From a legacy with the Hollywood movies that were filmed here to the wonderful ambience which truly impressed my wife and I. The location is within walking distance to everything in LA downtown and price of the room was very reasonable. Last but not least, the staff were very welcoming and helpful. We had a chance to chat with the manager Valentine and he is an incredible man. I look forward to booking here again on my next visit to LA.

Room felt like 3 stars rather than 4 stars.Housekeeping was excellent. Location is also nice, in walking distance to a lot of different eateries and shopping. The only big highlight to this place is that it's basically historical and if you like old timey 40s-50s interiors this place is it. Lobby is pretty spacious too.

If you’re looking for a normal/basic hotel experience this is not the place. We were sent multiple confirmation emails and not a single one mentioned that we would be paying a $400 security deposit. I even called making sure we had the correct price and they never mentioned the money. Once we got there they surprised us with the $400 fee and we were scared we would have no where to go in the streets of LA. Luckily we figured it out with last minutes, but only thanks to calling a few family members. On top of that free breakfast, something any hotel would include, was not included with our package. Our view was horrible, just straight up bricks and pipes. We would hear a very loud high pitched beeping noise which gave us all a bad headache. When I asked one of there workers what it was for and if we should be concerned about it he told me “it’s to get them out and make them stop” “Them” was referring to the strikers who were not being paid fairly. I was extremely shocked to hear this and made me feel guilty to be staying. This hotel made us more than eager to leave as soon as possible. Something no hotel should do.

A sneaky $35/day fee is sure to surprise you during your check-in.I booked the Biltmore because of the price; at 160/night it was a great deal for attending a conference in the area. What they don't list is a $35/day 'facilities fee' that covers what most hotels would consider complimentary services. Coffee, the exercise facility, and so on. I would've preferred that they just raise the price of the room nightly and be honest about it; instead I was surprised with a couple extra hundred dollars of expenses for my trip with the only option being to find somewhere on the other side of the town. The staff were lovely but the rooms were mediocre. At least two mornings I didn't have anything above luke-warm water when showering during peak morning times. The door to the room had a gap under the door that let noise and light in from the hallway. The beds were comfy and the room was otherwise fine.Great location if you want to be in the downtown/financial district area.

This hotel is horrible. The staff is rude and made the whole process a nightmare. Starting from the beginning, I pulled into the parking garage and found that the first 8 floors were “reserved for valet parking” and were completely empty. Valet parking is $65 so unless you can afford that, your only other option is to pay $45 per night parking just to park all the way at the top of the parking garage. And in order to get back to the lobby to check in, expect to struggle with your luggage down the winding staircase. I confirmed with the front desk that there is no other way that doesn’t involve stairs. The hotel is directly next to an outdoor event venue. I was on the 5th floor and my hotel room was literally vibrating from the concert that was going on. It was extremely loud and went until 10:00pm.They charge a $35 per night “destination fee” on top of the hotel price that says it covers internet, pool access and water bottles upon request. I called room service the next morning because they didn’t have water with the coffee maker and after waiting 10 minutes for someone to pick up the phone, I was informed I had to walk all the way down to the lobby to get a water bottle. This is crazy to expect guests to walk down there to access a basic need. I went down there and asked the front desk how to get water and the lady pointed next to her where there was 4 water bottles on the counter. I asked if I’m supposed to reach over and grab one and she ignored me.Online it also says there’s a cafe, this is not true. I asked 3 different hotel workers and there is no food anywhere on the premises.I paid for a King suite with a pull out couch and was given a small room with two double beds which is much cheaper than the room I paid for. The window had gang signs tagged all over it and the room smelt moldy. The carpet was pretty gross and made me feel like I needed to wear shoes the whole time I was in there. This place is an absolute rip off and is not what they advertise it to be. Do yourself a favor and stay ANYWHERE else.Nearby activities: Outdoor event center is super loud.

It is the cheapest hotel in downtown area! We got amazing big and clean room with no technical issues. (However, water bottles are available only at the lobby, which I would not mind if people there would a little more nice, but it is simply not convenient to have such a walk for water). Halls are gorgeous, so entrance into side rooms was allowed, they always have someone too white who paid a lot to have a party there. This is physically nice, but mentally...I don't know if it is "big city" thing, but for out two day stay literally no one at least smile to us, none of the people said Hi and nothing about small talk..I felt like outsider
